This math trade is for those attending Lobster Trap in 2015. Only those who will be in attendance should participate. (It is acceptable, but not generally recommended, to have a proxy who will be attending make your exchanges. Should you choose to do this, you must explicitly list who your proxy will be on all of the items that you list.) Anyone who ends up not attending will be responsible for all shipping charges (i.e., both directions).

Brief Rules and Information:

* You must verify and accurately describe the condition of your items, and state the language. Referring to the picture is not sufficient since those don't appear in the OLWLG. However, choosing a picture that matches the version you are offering is preferred.)

* If you do not state when you will be at Lobster Trap, it will be assumed you will be there all four days. If this is not the case you must say when you will be there in each of your item descriptions.

* We will be using Jeff Michaud's OLWLG (On-Line Want List Generator) for both generating and submitting want lists - see: (obsolete thread, please use guild, see base post) Math Trade Online Want List Generator (OLWLG) - Discussion, Problem Report, etc thread if you aren't familiar with the tool.

* Only games and gift certificates are allowed as main items. Other items are allowed as sweeteners; however, cash is NOT allowed.

* We will be using Users Trading as the tiebreaker, with 91 iterations using seed 1428571.

* Duplicate protection is enabled; see Jeffy Jeff's Jeffy Jeff's OLWLG: Duplicate Protection For Dummies for how-to instructions.

* If you no longer wish to trade an item, it is preferable to simply add a comment saying that you will be submitting a blank want list, changing the item to "Outside the scope of BGG", and changing the description to:

This is a crayon rails (Empire Builder family) game set in West Virginia. It is (of course) smaller than other such games and has some play differences, e.g. every card has a coal load but coal loads need to be generated by players building to mine spaces.

This was made by Mayfair in small quantities for a museum exhibit back in 1991 and is consequently extremely rare.

This copy is generally in good shape and is quite playable. It also has extra laminated copies of the card sheet so each player can have one (instead of using a deck of actual cards players roll dice and reference this sheet). The flaws:

1. The crayons are missing. Crayons from any other set will work fine, as will various kinds of erasable pens.

2. A few of the bills (standard Empire Builder money) have been wrinkled. The rest appear unused.

3. One each of three of the railroad contract sheets is missing (used by a previous owner). There are still four copies of each of these and five of the fourth railroad. One or two of the remaining sheets have minor marks on the edges. These are used to track the "cards" and available coal loads each player has - they can easily be copied (permission to do this is given in the rules).

4. The outside of the tube has some water damage and some tape was applied to this area. The inside was not affected.

First Fantasy Flight edition (the good one in the large box, NOT the Silver Line edition). In English. The components are in excellent condition and complete except for one shield token; this does not affect play. The box lid has a few paper bubbles.

Small World, Schmall World. How about a game where you can actually make out which terrain is which and easily see everyone's pieces on the board?

This is the second English edition, aka the one where the English rules aren't full of holes; the first English edition had awful rules (and at least one counter error).

It's been played but is complete and in very good condition. The box has minor shelfwear.

In the early 1970s Ravensburger published a number of sets in their Präsent Series. Each of these had a large reversible board (mounted on wood) which could be used to play two different games, plus a wooden box to contain the pieces.

The only original game in the series was Ishi, designed by Alex Randolph, and as far as I am aware never published anywhere else. The other side is a Go board.

The board is in very good condition. The box has slight discoloration to the wood in some areas, but is otherwise fine. The pieces (Go stones) are mostly fine, but one or two are broken; since you don't use all of them in a typical Go game, not a problem (and you use many fewer in Ishi). I have not counted the pieces, but there are lots of them. The rulebook is missing, but Go rules are widely available and I will include my English translation of the Ishi rules (I think the German rules are online somewhere). The set is packaged in what appears to be an original Präsent Series cardboard box, although it is labeled for a different set.

This is an Ishi Press Go board. It is NOT a complete game - it is just a board (it was sold that way - you buy the stones separately). It is a 15mm-thick Katsura-wood board. It has not been used. The cardboard storage box has some scuffing.

It looks pretty similar to the one in the picture, and might even be the same board; the one in the picture is from a full Ishi Press set.

This is a set of all three Kosmos boardgames produced as tie-ins for the Lord of the Rings movies.

The game for The Return of the King is the most notable, as it was designed by Martin Wallace. As it's never been made available in the US, if you're a Wallace fan this is one of your very few chances to get it. Also, it has a neat plastic Mount Doom (forming the end of the board):

and Der Herr der Ringe: Die Zwei Türme

All of these have been played once or twice, I think. The components for all of them are in very good condition. The box for the Fellowship game has a little damage on one corner.

All the games include printouts of English translations and are not difficult to play with those in hand (there isn't much card text).

This is a set of games played with pieces that make the board look like Celtic knotwork patterns.

There have been a number of editions of the game over the years. This is the first one called Project Kells. It has rules for two games in the box; there are rules for at least three more on the official website, and you can play any of the games with any of the editions as far as I know.

In this version the board is cardboard and the pieces are plastic. The rules are in English. The box has some minor dings but is intact. The components are in fine shape.

A classic Karl-Heinz Schmiel design. It was originally published by his Moskito Spiele; some people like the cartoony artwork in that edition, but I think the Avalon Hill edition is easier to play with since all the environmental aspects are different colors.

This is the Avalon Hill edition. Naturally, it is in English. The contents are in excellent condition, with the counters unpunched and the cards sealed. The box has some shelfwear and a few minor spots.

This is an old German abstract strategy game. Aficionados like it a lot - see Eamon Bloomfield's review - but I am not an abstract strategy person so am not likely to play it much.

The rules are in German but English rules are available on the game page. The board has a little wear around the edges of the folding sections but is perfectly usable. The pieces are fine. The rules have wear and a few small stains. The box has wear and some small torn swatches, but is intact.

An old Martin Wallace design; it's a multi-player game in which players are gods trying to get as many followers as possible.

This is the second edition, in color. It's been punched but used very little, so the components are in fine shape. The box has some light spotting. English and German rules.

This game is conceptually similar to Lords of Creation (see above), but has very different mechanisms. Here players are also gods controlling followers, but in this game the players get to design their own races of followers using cards. The landscape being fought over can change during the game, since some followers might have powers such as summoning rain to cause floods, etc.

This is an Israeli production and is next to impossible to find in the US. (All the pictures on the game page are of this copy.) On the other hand, I believe that the recent release Athlas: Duel for Divinity is a remake of this game. On the other other hand, Athlas is a bit pricey for a two-player game (Gods is playable by two or three, it says) and seems to have some production issues.

The rules are in Hebrew, but an English translation is provided and the cards are in English. Now, the game has some issues condition-wise. The box and board have spotting. The insert (which had a LOT of spotting) is gone. The counters are unpunched. The cards are very poor quality and despite being unused show wear, but since they are not randomized, this is not really an issue. (Players each get a set of cards and choose from them to create their followers.) If you don't like using a board which has spotting (I wouldn't blame you), note that it's a small, simple board, so making a copy wouldn't be hard. And, it has exactly the same layout as the Lords of Creation board, so if you get that from me as well, you can just use that board for both games.

An interesting, quite abstract game in which players place tiles to trigger rock-paper-scissors style conflicts in which some tiles get to move up to higher levels. Players each have the same set of tiles but get them in a random order.

This was redone as Message to the Czar, but the publisher made changes which ruined the game (I hear, I never played that version). The original game was never published in the US.

The components are language-neutral. A copy of my translation (which includes the two-player rules from the publisher's website) is included. The official English rules are also available in the Files section on the game page. The game has been played several times but is still in fine shape. The box has a little shelfwear.

This classic game by David Watts has had a number of editions over the years, some called Dampfross and some called Railway Rivals. They're all basically the same, but have different maps (and there are lots of other maps floating around).

This is the Dampfross edition from Schmidt. It comes with four maps (on two double-sided boards):
1. Eastern United States
2. Western United States
3. France
4. Germany

The six colored pencils are included, although I can't swear they're the originals. They have been used, some more than others. The rules are in German but this set includes an English translation of the Schmidt rules and a photocopy of the rules from the Games Workshop edition of Railway Rivals. The components are in very good condition (aside from the pencil use). The box has some wear and a split corner.

Two abstract games:

1. Geominos. This involves playing tiles which are spotted like dominoes but have a variety of different shapes. The components are in very good condition. The box (which is a pizza box and so somewhat flimsy) has a little wear.

2. Great Walls. This is played with stones, which players place on the board to try to make patterns. The components are all present and in fine shape. The original container (not sure if it was a box or a tube) is missing; the game is in a plain cardboard box.

16. Board Game: Future [Average Rating:5.67 Unranked]

This is a very unusual game. It was produced by Kaiser Aluminum in 1966 to celebrate their 20th anniversary. It was designed by mathematicians and engineers, some of whom have other game design credits (such as Summit and Square Mile - this isn't all reflected on BGG yet, but I will submit corrections).

The game is about predicting trends over the next 20 years. Players select event cards they want to happen, which get mixed together along with random events and "news events;" these get revealed in turn and players can bet on what will happen and/or spend money to influence developments. Each event can affect the probability of other events occurring.

It has neat plastic displays for tracking the probabilities of events and players' bets:

This copy is complete and the contents are in very good condition overall. Some score sheets have been used but there are some unused ones (and you don't actually write on them in the advanced version of the game). The money is still shrinkwrapped. The rules have a little wear and a stray pen mark or two.

However, it does have a problem, which is that the box has lots of old mold spots. The mold is long dead and the interior is not affected with the minor exception of the small box that holds the chips, which has a few spots; there are other cardboard and paper components (the rules, event cards, and score sheets), but they have no spots.

If someone gets this and doesn't want the box I can repackage it in a different box of some sort.

17. Board Game: SuDoku: Die Spielesammlung [Average Rating:4.43 Unranked]

Not a standard Sudoku board game, but a set of six games (on different boards) played using Sudoku-like placement rules. Designed by Reiner Knizia. Never released in the US.

The rules are in German but a copy of my English translation is included, and the components are language-neutral.

The game has been played a few times but everything is still in excellent condition.

Sweetener: Challenge Sudoku. This is a multi-player Sudoku game which is apparently decent. There are also rules for a solitaire game and a set of 50 Sudoku puzzles you can solve with the set. (And of course you can use it to solve any other Sudoku puzzles.) The tiles have different colors for each number. There are also a lot of tiny number tiles to use when solving a puzzle. It hasn't been played and is in fine shape, although the small tiles have been jumbled. The box has minor wear. The rulebook has multiple languages including English.

1. Till Eulenspiegel. This is by Karl-Heinz Schmiel (designer of Die Macher, Tribune, etc.). It is an evil memory game, while while aimed at children is quite challenging enough for adults, believe me. The components are in good shape. The box and insert have noticeable wear but are intact. It includes an English translation and the components are language-neutral.

2. Supernase. This is a real-time pattern recognition game. Definitely hard enough for adults. It's been played once and is still in excellent condition. The box has very minor shelfwear. There is an English translation on the game page and the components are language-neutral.

Tori Shogi is a 18th-century Shogi variant played on a 7x7 board with pieces named after birds. It's difficult to get, at least outside Japan - there is a guy in the UK who makes sets, but they're rather expensive. The set I am trading is one of those.

The board is blue vinyl. The pieces are wooden. (The picture in this entry is of this set.) The board and pieces are in very good condition (and there is an extra Sparrow piece). The rules (in English) have minor wear. The tube has one end taped shut and the game name taped to it (probably not original). The board has a tendency to curl a bit at the edges, but the picture was taken about five minutes after taking it out of the tube - if you reverse-roll it a bit it will lie pretty flat.

Another Dirk Henn design: Texas, the original self-published version of Rosenkönig. It's the same game; the only rules difference is that this version comes with the rules for four players (the best way to play the game).

This has been played very little. All components are in excellent condition for a db-Spiele game, which means the cards are curved - this always happens. They are still perfectly usable. A printout of an English translation is included.
