This game is by Philippe Keyaerts, the designer of Small World and while the games share the themes of exploration and combat, this is much more focused on generating resources to buy discoveries for in-game enhancements, and wonders for end-game bonuses.
Olympos is just as cutthroat as Small World, but the game itself also has some nasty tricks up its sleeve... as Tom found out. There are five points along the time track (actions cost time) at which special Olympos cards are revealed. You do not want to be the played with the fewest Zeus tokens at these points, because the penalties can be quite severe. Tom got hit by these cards for most of the game, which sadly kept him out of the running.
Hugh on the other hand played a storming game, planning his actions so he often got a double turn (the player who has used the least time for their actions goes next) and grabbed some really good bonuses for the win.
