The day started with PitchCar. It was being set up at the same time as Fearsome Floors, with three players interested in each, so we decided to play the one that was set up first, first.

I got off to a good start, second with a good bit of space behind me, but I wasted most of it and came equal third at the end.

As soon as PitchCars finished we all moved to the next table to play Fearsome Floors. After the game was explained *to its owner*, we set off. There was somewhat of a bottleneck at the beginning and the end. With five or six players (I forget), apparently it's more of a race than anything tactical. The zombie did very little damage and the game was over quite quickly.

It was still fun though. The way you handle multiple characters, and the way the movement is varied but fair was pretty cool.

Next up, Hey! That's My Fish! Four players this time, as that's the game's maximum. I won, but I'm sure it was luck more than skill. Though I did help cut off one player, and I noticed a cool way to cut other players off from a run of fish, so I don't think it was all luck.

Not a bad game, but I'm fairly sure I could knock up a functional clone with a few photocopied hex sheets and some Icehouse pyramids. If I don't care about the hexes (or if it's a perfect match), it might be doable with a few Icehouse stashes and a couple of Piecepack sets.

A friend arrived towards the end of Hey! That's My Fish! and so I asked her if she wanted to start up a game of "UberFluxx". What I'd done the night before is combine Fluxx 3.0, EcoFluxx and Family Fluxx, along with about a dozen promo cards, into one gigantic deck. All duplicates were removed (which reduces the percentage of Play X cards, so I might add a couple back in) and I'd packed them into Pandora's Fluxx Boxx. A couple of other gamers joined in and we had a couple of games. I won both, which was probably a little unsporting, but that's how it played.

Just as the second Fluxx game was starting up, a couple of nice gamer people I met at GenghisCon showed up. We were all interested in playing something other than Fluxx, so I suggested Gnostica, which I'd been wanting to play since I first heard that it used a Tarot deck.

I'd brought a 1972 Rider & Waite deck, so we went through the instructions and started a game.

Hint: When a game says it goes to "9 points", but a quick game is 8 and a long game is 10, *it's a long game*.

That said, it is definately one of those things you get into the swing of. Once you realise that there aren't a huge number of different moves and you see how things interact, the pace picks up very quickly. Even so, we cut it short at about the 5-6 point mark by deciding to end when the group beside us ended their game (of whatever) so that a whole pile of people could go off and find lunch. I was winning at that point.

I'm definately going to make some reference cards for this game. I think I spotted some in one of the other photos.

From there, 6 Nimmt! An interesting game, but one of those things where once something goes kinda wrong it can really collapse badly. In a three player game I barely avoided coming last. Nice pace though, and it is one with symultaneous action, which is quite party/event-friendly. I'd like to try it with more players.

As 6 Nimmt! was winding up, a game of Settlers was being setup. Settlers is one of the games I'm really pushing myself to play at every opportunity, because I'm thinking of buying one of the 10th Anniversary sets. Either that, or I'm going to make a similar game with Icehouse and Piecepack sets.

Unfortunately for the 10th Anniversary chest, this game (which was only my second ever) played much the same as my first. I'd picked perfectly fine numbers, statistically, but the dice just didn't roll evenly and didn't get much. Also, I got cut off pretty badly. It was a five player game and another player was also fairly sidelined. Early good luck seems to be very important.

Then a couple of us from the Settlers game jumped on the Looping Louie that had been unpacked and tested our reflexes with the owner and a young girl. I won both games.

It has its moments, but it really is a kid's game.

We decided we wanted a different sort of game next, so (and I can't think exactly why) I pulled out Aquarius. I started explaining it two three players and another one spotted the colourful cards so then we had four.

The few games we played were the first I'm played since I added the wild card from the Nanofictionary Blanks pack. It's a very powerful card and changes the dynamics of the game considerably when it's in play. Definately worth getting.

I can't recall if I won any games, at most it was one.

Just as I was packing up and heading out someone yelled out that Hive was up for play. I think they'd remembered that I was interested in playing. So I had one "quick" game.

I say "quick" rather than quick because the game itself my be quick, but you have to read all the instructions from beginning to end pretty much before you play your first tile. And, at least for my first game, reference them continually. It looks interesting, but I got seriously out manoeuvred and basically just watched my queen bee get surrounded without being able to do much about it.

I believe it's cheap at some place I intend to get to soon, so I'll probably pick up a copy.

And that was the end of EuroGamesFest, Perth.
