Completely derivative list here. Spawned from David Molnar's list.

I've logged a ridiculous 3047 games played sine July of 2003. That number is bolstered by two things: One - I have a game buddy at work, so we play games 3-5 times a week for ~45 minutes, Two - I log my plays from online gaming with human opponents, between SpielByWeb, MabiWeb and a few others, I'm in anywhere from 10-25 games at once. Also since many people don't log their games, including some of the more active folks at those websites, this list should be taken with a grain of salt.

(I already spent too much time on this list, so I'll be back to it later this weekend.)

734 plays logged and I'm still sitting at a lowly 6th. I still want to play this more often, but I doesn't seem to hit the table. Like Chess, Poker and Bridge, this game can be, and is for many, a lifestyle game. I lived that lifestyle for 8+ years and still dabble. The variety of play continues to intrigue me, even aside from new sets being released. I enjoy deck building, especially for strange formats, including Artist Decks and Letter decks. We've done all commons and decks with a minimum 250 cards (instead of the usual 60). Draft and sealed deck are a blast, formats I'd happily play even if we had to "make-up" our own boosters. (And I have done this many year back.) I would seriously pursue a designing job at WotC if they were only in the Midwest. Washington is too far away from family.

I've played it 147 times since April '06. That lands me in 5th. I probably wouldn't have played so much, but I am really into the variable maps. (Using the Westpark gamers tool and then uploading to SBW.) Hits some of the same buttons than Ticket to Ride and Through the Desert do for me. Do I draft those cards now, or play some land/animals? Can I work on this part of the board and then go over there later, or will I get cut off? Throw in some money management and you have a winner. HUGE hit with my father-in-law, so we play a lot as well. I would happily buy some expansion maps if HiG or RGG released any.

92 plays of this fun and quick card game land in me in the #1 spot. 83 of those have been at Mabiweb. I'd happily play more in person, but it hasn't as much of a hit with my opponents. Other problem is my allegiance to the cult of the new and a desire to play those games of mine that haven't seen much table time.

Ah, bakelite, how I love thee. Add in the twists that this game with present and the every shrinking board and I racked up 80 plays. This saw a lot of play during my lunch time. I'm certainly no master, I'm certain that Stephen Tavener (and many others) could wipe the floor with me. That said, I'd love to play it more and against better players to improve my game.

Blokus addict here, I'm always happy to pull this out. It's been a hit for me with family and friends. Again a victim of me owning perhaps too many games, so it doesn't see as much table time as I'd like. I prefer Trigon over the squares. Blocking is definitely more interesting here. Played with two, we shrink the board down by 2.5 rows. Alternating 2 and 3 rows blocked off. The board looks odd, but seems to provide a nice tight game. I prefer a board small enough that it is a rarity for a player to get all their pieces down. I've logged 60 plays of this since acquiring it in July of 2006.

For me, this is a classic, I fully expect to be playing this in 10 years. Easy to teach and appealing to a wide variety of folks. Family and friends have enjoyed this. Add in the chance to play it over at Mabiweb and I've logged 58 plays (42 on Mabiweb). I know I've played it a lot more, but many of my in person plays were before I started logging. 58 plays puts me in 3rd place.

I enjoy Reef Encounter, but I'm pretty bad at it. At least against the sharks roaming SpielByWeb. I managed to learn this monster online first, reading the rules left me befuddled and playing it online only helped some. In the end, playing more online and reading Mike Doyle's review lead to understanding (the rules, the key to winning escapes me). I'd play this more in person, but it is a hair long for lunch gaming and my game group has so many new games to play that this is brushed aside. "We can just play that on SpielByWeb they say." 48 plays for me, lands me in 9th. My physical copy has seen a mere 3, THREE!, plays. That said, I'm still happy to own it.

Another of Michael Schacht's games here. My wife enjoys this one, we'd probably bring it out more, but the kids really get in the way of game time. 46 plays of this, leave me in first place. 37 of those were on MabiWeb. I could have sworn that I've played it more than 9 times in person, but apparently not.

I have a misleading 46 plays of this logged. (Landing me in second.) Truthfully I've played this probably 500 times or more. I'd LOVE to play this more, but only in person, abstracts online don't thrill me so much. Before I started logging plays, I played this for years on and off with my Dad and Brother. Years later, after we stopped playing MtG at work, my friend and I played this for almost a year. (If we gamed 200 days in a year and played 5+ games a day, we'd be at 1000, so my 500 number is probably conservative.) Over and over we tested opening strategies and their counters. At the height of our playing I'd have said I was ready for any tournament. Looking back, I'm sure there must have been tricks we didn't know about because of our closed testing. I have the tube edition with the lovely faux leather board. More games should come on such an excellent surface.

Like pringles you can't just eat one. I don't think we've ever pulled this out, played once and put it away. It demands "just one more go". The finely molded plastic bits with the lazy-susan board makes this a pleasure to play. (Although the bits do have just a bit too much draft on the surfaces for off board doodles.) This works well with adults and very well with younger cousins. I have 45 plays logged, landing me in 4th. I think this is another I had started playing well before mid-2003.

Reiner Knizia has many, many excellent games, but of them all, this is my wife's favorite. I picked this and another game off the shelf at my FLGS and let her pick one. She picked this and while I hadn't played it before, I'd her some good things about it. With a bit of a pout, put the other game back on the shelf. Good thing I did! Ingenious is excellent, for 2, 3 or 4 players. With couple friends, gaming buddies and family this has been met with a positive reception. In fact this list reminds me that I should bring it to my parents more often, they enjoyed it and they complain that I try to teach them too many new games, so they don't get a chance to really learn them. I'd played this 44 times, landing me in a terribly low spot of 19th. I think maybe 5 of those plays are from BSW.

39 plays lands me in 15th place. I had a chance to play this many years ago and immediately fell in love. That night I stopped at the FLGS on the way to a friend's house with my wife. Picked this up and introduced it that night. (With just the husband, my wife was even less of a gamer then.) I've continued to enjoy this, even with three and four, regardless of supposed problems. I burnt out on two player for a while after playing it repeated at lunch. After picking up Taluva, by the same designer, I felt an urge to bring this out again. My father-in-law, who I've completely converted to the land of designer games had not played it yet, so I trounced him twice just last week.

Stealing fish for fun and profit, does it get any better? A cute theme layered on top of what can be a very nasty abstract has wove it's spell around me. I enjoy analyzing the board to decide where to place my initial penguins, how I might cut my opponent off onto the smallest iceberg. Bearing some similarities to Zertz, the board shrinks in odd ways through the game. Played more lightly, this is a good game for family, being super easy to teach and grasp some strategy. That said, I do have trouble playing it lightly, my wife WON'T play this with me, I "play mean" she says. 38 plays lands me in 6th place.

32 plays of this lands me in 8th. I'm actually quite suprised, I thought that I would place much lower. This dexterity race game brings all to the game table, including my mother-in-law who claims to hate games. I win my fair share of games, but other times I seem to lose all ability flick anywhere but onto the floor. Like a wire gets shorted between my brain and my hand. Regardless, I'm proud to own the PitchCar microbadge and will play at the drop of a hat. I've picked up two expansion sets in addition to my base set and I think I'm good for a while. Most of our layouts leave some pieces left over. Longer tracks can be fun once in a while, but they also can drag on. A nice short track, with 2 or 3 laps for the win is better most of the time. Jumps are both super cool and terribly frustrating. I'm think I may need to implement a house rule about three failed jumps places you at the next piece just to get people moving. If I had any skill with tools, I might consider making some custom track pieces, but instead I'll drool over the pics here on the geek.
