Next up taught this one to Dan and Sophie out of the rule book. Ended up being quite enjoyable. It was played at least 10 times as Sophie was mad about it! Dan ended up subbing out and Adrian subbed in after an unfortunate death in wings of glory!

3. Board Game: Tragedy Looper [Average Rating:7.28 Overall Rank:592]
Adrian had a fantastic time teaching this one to James and I. James and I both agreed it was hard on the brain and we only made it one game. Hard to say who won; there were a few hiccups along the way as it's been a long long while since either me or Adrian had played but highly recommend it as a game.

After the brain punishment that was tragedy looper James made the intelligent decision to play Stone Age out of the green box. It is one of my favourite worker placements and everyone enjoyed it. Close game as well!

5. Board Game: Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game [Average Rating:7.74 Overall Rank:66]
Adrian, James, Keith and I played this with one other (sorry ?name).

It was a lot of fun although being torn apart by the cylons at the end was punishing. I managed to successfully put both cylons in the brig but it wasn't enough. We could have been so much closer if it weren't for all those distance:1 planets along the way but what are you going to do when your military leader is a cylon in disguise!!!

Marin won this as the door prize.

We leaped on him, pinned him to the top of a table and with our trusty knives, bid him "open that crisp new game box or die". Yes it's that sort of game.

Players being Prof Martin, Senator JKuan, Chef Penny, Harpist Amy, Sergent Nic and Stoker Noisy..

I don't recall who left with the money..

A shadowy soul slid this onto our table whilst important items were in motion off stage left. Our Hoax crew was joined by Agent Anneke and Dog Whisperer Dave..

We soon realized there was no way to leave the table without engaging in this crazy party. At which point non of us could recall the card we had in play..

Gotlief the Ent, had recently purchased this new game. After letting us sense the aroma of fresh ink. He invited us to punch flats with him and smuggle a rouge chook past the city gates..

See my disclaimer below, but I believe we had; Prof Martin, Senator JKuan, Chef Penny and Stoker Andrew all happily packing our sacks with the games owner.

So conservative government cutbacks mean the town ranger only works three days a week and only had a two 2 litre diesel ration for the council Hilux. This being the case, it's not surprising we were all soon overrun with random canines.. After holding my eyes shut to the complete works of Eminem. I woke to find my aglets had been stolen.. My house keeper also seemed to be motionless and bleeding profusely.

Loads of people ran in ever decreasing accusative spirals..
Put your names below so we can get you next time.

Mal taught this new LCG implementation of Fantasy Flight's corner of the Cthulhu mythos. It's a coop that seems to share some DNA with the Lord of the Rings card game, although I've very limited experience with that so can't really compare.

You're basically moving from location to location trying to investigate and play cards to increase your chances of surviving when the beasties inevitably show up.

We played the introductory scenario and both died having uncovered the goal. Mal was killed outright while I went mad.

The games seems pretty good, although the first play of LCGs is always laden down with rules and timing questions. I like how the scenario cards allow flexibility.

Next up Christophe, Celine and myself played this euro game from this year's Spiel. We had all played it as a two player game before and felt that it would be better with more. Turns out we were right! Three players opens up some action spaces on the board that allow some flexibility for important actions.

This is a worker placement / engine building game in which the usefulness of your workers varies from turn to turn, as dictated by a die roll (that affects every player's workers similarly). It's a lovely puzzle with some great combo building opportunities. This has just been picked up by CMON for north American release, I'd highly recommend it.

Next up the same group played this fairly new game about spy networks in Europe. Each player is placing dice and taking actions to complete mission cards and crack codes. Cracking codes gives you equipment which can be used to complete missions. Multi-use cards, a VERY cut throat action selection system and unique special abilities all combine to make this a far more thinky game than you might expect.

My first play of this had been a two player game and we were both unsure of what to think about it, but it really clicked this time, and moved along at a much better pace, despite having an extra player.

I don't know if I'd rush to play it with four, and it's definitely not for those that suffer from heavy AP, but I really like this one.

We played a normal difficulty 4 player game, and alas we all died It was pretty close, we had what I consider the 2 weakest roles (being water carrier and meteorologist), and no awesome jockey and rider combo.

I taught 5 other players, and they all seemed to get into it. After our 6 monsters were done, I reached the final 3 before someone else won on points.

I also saw this being played at least 1 more time.

Played this game twice with Warren who had just delivered it to me (bought from WABA games for sale). I'd only played Timeline once before a few years ago, I'd forgotten how to play, so easy to pick up, rules explained in about 2 sentences. I can't remember who won, I think I won one of them. Lots of laughs at our ignorance!

As I'd also bought this one, Warren and I started to play it but were quickly joined by Martin & Godlief. I really liked this version of the Timeline games as it mixed it up a lot. Again lots of laughs (& groans)

Eric taught Alana(?) and I, and refreshed Warren in this tile-laying type game. In game 1, Eric won on 29 over Alana's 21, Warren 16 and me 11. Having gotten our heads around it, we played it a second time, with Eric again winning on 23 over Alana's 20, Warren 19 and me 15.
