I finally got a chance to play this after having watched it played twice. Tim and I were taught by Ian and Christophe.

I really enjoyed this game. I loved the little art selling mechanic and the variable play area. It's a game where first player can be anyone's but you're probably going to have a lesser turn for it, but the reward is definitely there.

I liked the constant competition across every section of the board. At every turn, someone is being blocked from doing something, either because a space was taken, resource requirements were changed or a certain type of art sold. There's plenty of good ways around it but the optimal path is forever veering off course. You can almost never not take an action but it's probably not the one you had in mind at the start of the round.

I taught Ian, Stu, Christophe and Tim this quite cool deck builder.

It conveys theme really well with things like a wasteland junk pile that is initially ripe for plundering but dwindles as it is pillaged and even polluted by the players. It has a great skirmish mechanic where the toughest tribe wins in a brawl for the best of the best. It would take a page to go into detail but it's a pretty standard deck builder that you've probably seen before but the theme is what makes it really interesting.

One thing I would note is that the base game is a little flawed on its own. I would always recommend you play with the Medic card from the expansion. There's a finite number of medical symbols in the junk pile and if one player gets them all or even a decent amount they'll probably run away with the game.

Ian, Christophe, Tim, Stu and I sat down for a game of Adrenaline. Christophe, Tim and Stu hadn't played before so we taught it.

This is my second game of this one and my opinion is still much the same. It's an OK game but nothing special. It is quick and simple to teach so when you've only got an hour it's not a terrible choice.

This game is one of the reason I joined WABA. I love weighty games and unfortunately my gaming group doesn't really play a lot of them (well not enough to sate my insatiable desire to play them).

Ian, Stu, Tim and I sat down to play this one after dinner. Overall I quite liked the game and would definitely play it again but I was sort of left with the impression that it's a game where they've tried to jam too much into one game. It's not just that you can never complete all of the things that can be done on the board by the end of the game but the multi-use cards felt a little forced.

I also think the point system is flawed in a similar way. Sure there are lots of ways to score points but there are sections such as the market stalls in the middle of the board (the Luna board) that you can't really neglect.

I think my opinion is probably coloured by having played Bruxelles earlier in the day which was a far more elegant point salad with lots of paths.

I definitely want to get more plays of this in, in the futre.

Card based Troyes, seems like a great idea.

Ian, Tim and I played a quick game of this and I had a great time with it. I've only played Troyes once and Tournay once but I think I prefer Tournay. It seems to offer up the same experience with a faster and less mechanical game.

It's a bit iconography dense but if you played it frequently enough I think this could be a really satisfying yet quick game to play.

Tim, Ian and I bumbled our way through the first case of the Dresden Files (Storm Front).

We were not good detectives nor monster slayers. In fact by the end of the game we managed to jump two walls and drink a 6 pack of beer.

For those not familiar with the game, it's based on a book series about a Wizard PI. The game has you facing off against 12 cards where you need to defeat obstacles, monsters and solve cases. You'll win the game if you solved more cases than there are monsters on the board.

Each player has there own character deck and they'll either play a card paying its cost from a common pool of resources, or discard a card from their hand to contribute resources to the pool. The game isn't a deck builder though. You get a fixed number of cards based on the number of players in the game and ultimately it makes it a puzzle of how to solve as much as you can collectively with the limited resources on hand.

There's guidelines for tabletalk and I think we might have taken them too far. The game needs some level of co-operation amongst players.

The game may be too dependent on luck i.e. how was the board constructed, what cards did player X get, how did the dice roll and so on but even games like Pandemic run that risk with randomised decks. Sometimes you just never stood a chance.

It plays really fast, around 15-30 minutes at the absolute most. I'm keen to play it some more but overall I expect it's going to fill that short format co-op game spot somewhat like Fuse.

Race for the Galaxy but as a card game... wait a minute, a much more simplified Race for the Galaxy.

I think this one is pretty simple, if you like Race or Roll for the Galaxy and wish that those games played in 5-15 minutes well this is probably the game for you.

There's a heap more luck based on what you draw from the deck and ultimately I think that is going to mean that a singular strategy of building up your card draw as quickly as possible is always going to come out on top. I think in the long run that's going to negatively impact the longevity of this game as everyone is probably going to start employing this strategy.

It's fast and fun and I'd happily play it a dozen times more to explore it's depth.

Tim, Ian, Adam, that semi-circle red/black moon means that the card discounts on both normal and military planets:

Pete, Grug and I played the Spinning Jenny variant of this heavy economic game set in 18th century England.

You operate a number of factories and are aiming to have the best portfolio of your own shares at the end of the game. You'll do this by selling goods the factories produce, increasing the quality and quantity you sell, and automating those factories.

Spinning Jenny is basically the tutorial for the longer and heavier Water Frame version and I think it was one of the best tutorials/learning games I've ever played. It almost felt like a full game in itself and allowed everyone to get the basic mechanics down in about 90 minutes.

Very close finish with Pete on £242 and Grug and myself on £240.

I'd read the rules a few times, and attempted to teach this for a 5 player game. We missed a few things, but I think we had it worked out towards the end. I recommend it for those that enjoy Battlestar Galactica...it's more of that.
(The game had a write-up on Ars Technica today, if anyone is interested.)

I'd def play again, given I've now worked it out, but my feeling so far is that I still prefer BSG.

I played this one with Adrian, Tim T and his son. I enjoy the basic mechanics of the game and do like the new special characters that you play with but still not really my kind of game.

Tim was the first to take a gold scroll and the only one left standing at the end crowning him winner.

Played this game with Adrian and Nick. I don't rate it all too highly but Adrian loves it! I find the story reading drags the game along and there is very little control over whether you can get a good or bad result. Slightly better than Arabian Nights but only play them when Adrian makes me. Nick took this game as well with a decent score which sky-rocketed due to some of his victory point buildings.

Based on a computer game I have never played...apparently there is cake but it's not real?

Strange game, test subjects, cake, things getting incinerated, but enjoyable nonetheless...oh yeah...and I won ;-)

After playing this many times on Yucata, this was my first time playing the real thing. As expected my dice rolls were just as terrible in this version. Biggest surprise was no one rolling pestilence the ENTIRE game...which is completely unheard of in my Yucata experience.

I think Elaine won this by one point over Richard.
