I've been asked once again to help organize the gaming scheduler for the sixth Dice Tower Con. Now TWICE the size!

Why this List?

This list is to encourage attendees to post & schedule heavier games that they would like to organize prior to arriving at the Con. Due to the nature of Open Gaming conventions, the ability to get meatier games to the table is always a challenge. Often due to the dynamic nature of the attendees, formal schedule, etc. For most Euro strategy games, pick-up sessions are quite easy at an open gaming convention. But by starting this list a few months in advance, players can start reviewing rules, assign players to specific countries/characters/etc.

This list should be used to post open games that require a larger block of time (3-5+ hours) **These are not for OFFICIAL events and games that will be listed on the Dice Tower Con Schedule .

Got a wargame or an old Avalon Hill game that you've been dying to have hit the table? How about the game of Die Macher or Mega Civilization you've always wanted to try? What about a game of Fiasco? This list is for you!

Please also use this list to coordinate informal teaching/learning games for newbies.

Organization of the Geeklist

The games are listed in ALPHABETICAL order so that you can scroll down the list and see if a game you want to play is being organized or not. If it is, you can post a comment showing your interest. If it's not, you can Add an Item and put a game on the list.

It is also usually a good idea to Subscribe to the specific games you are interested in playing, rather than the entire list. This way, you will be notified only when there is a post to the specific games you want, rather than all games and comments.

For particularly organization-heavy games in which players, roles, and other stuff must be handled prior to the con, it might be good to have several entries of a game. You can look at previous years' lists here:

2016 Dice Tower Con Game Scheduler Geeklist
2015 Dice Tower Con Game Scheduler Geeklist
2014 Dice Tower Con Game Scheduler Geeklist
2013 Dice Tower Con Game Scheduler Geeklist
2012 Dice Tower Con Game Scheduler Geeklist

How to Post

Some useful information to include in game listings:

Game Title (added via the Geeklist Item)
# of Players
Day/Time/Location to Meet (This will likely be 'TBD' until we get closer to the Con)
Expected Playing Time (Duration)
Requested Experience Level of Players (i.e. Beginners allowed, Expert, etc.)

Room Locations

I encourage you to indicate a room and the meeting time. Here is a floorplan of the rooms available.

http://www.cariberoyale.com/d/cariberoyaleresponsive/media/p...

Mules

If you are willing to bring a copy of a needed game, please do! Many of the games on this list may be scarce, or not a typical title for the Con library. Obviously, older titles may require a Mule. If you are a local wargamer, or travelling by car to Orlando, supplies such as plexiglass, extra dice, dice towers, are greatly appreciated. The die-hard Grognards probably have their own tweezers. laugh

Requesting a Game

If you aren't planning to host a specific game, but would like to help get it organized, please REPLY in the comments section your request for playing a certain game. You should have pretty good success getting someone willing to set up a game if there is enough interest for that particular title.

I've set up a Dice Tower Convention Attendees guild for you to browse other attendees' collections. Join this guild and you can request games for other folks to bring.

In 1846, players will invest in various train companies. The majority shareholder of each company decides how it will use its resources to build track, stations, run trains, and whether it pays the shareholders. The aim is to end the game with the greatest personal wealth, both in cash and share value. This title focuses on running for large revenues in the end-game, routes running across the map (east-to-west) being key.

1846 is a relatively short and gentle introduction to 18XX, although it has a somewhat more complicated ruleset compared to, e.g., 1830. Many of the basic concepts apply to other titles, but it has few close relatives.

This will be a teaching game, where I'll try to provide some general guidance and attempt to warn players of disastrous moves.

In 1857, players will invest in various train companies. The majority shareholder of each company decides how it will use its resources to build track, stations, run trains, and whether it pays the shareholders. The aim is to end the game with the greatest personal wealth, both in cash and share value. In this game, that usually means getting cheap trains or at least dodging bankruptcy.

1857 has a similar ruleset to 1830, but is a much shorter (abrupt, even) 18XX. It's my preferred "demo game" for 18XX: you'll see most of the common elements, but a few are only hinted at; since the game nearly always ends in bankruptcy, building routes is notably almost absent.

In 1889, players will invest in various train companies. The majority shareholder of each company decides how it will use its resources to build track, stations, run trains, and whether it pays the shareholders. The aim is to end the game with the greatest personal wealth, both in cash and share value. Various approaches are possible for 1889's endgame, including running for large revenues or just maneuvering for cheap trains to run in the end.

1889 has a similar ruleset to 1830, but is a shorter and somewhat gentler introduction to 18XX. It's also the title I mostly highly recommend for new players; much of the skills you can learn from it transfer to other titles.

This will be a teaching game, where I'll try to provide some general guidance and attempt to warn players of disastrous moves.

PLAYING WITH LEADERS, CITIES AND GREAT PROJECTS -- NOT BABEL - this is a game to learn these expansions, not to learn the base game!

I am a fan of the basic 7 WONDERS game, but am looking to gain a little more experience playing with the expansions in combination. Looking for players who know the base game -- experience with the expansions is not required.

The Leaders expansion adds Leader cards that are selected before each round of the base game;

Cities adds diplomacy which allows a player to avoid military combat and also provides an additional set of black cards that provide enhanced benefits to the other strategies; adding the black cards adds one turn to each round to the base game;

Great Projects is one of the two expansions included within the Babel release; Great Projects are collaborative projects, one per round, that players may or may not help build; contributing to a successful great project reaps rewards; not contributing to an unsuccessful great project has its consequences.

I don't care to play with the Babel expansion, and it is not recommended that the Babel and Great Projects expansions be played together.

Thursday evening, July 6th, 7:30 pm, BOCA II
Looking for at least 4 and up to 7 players

We have a full table for this game of 7 Wonders. I am excited about that! I'll post the meeting room by Sunday before the con. I will be looking for a round table in one of the side rooms, or else we will have to put two long tables together.

BOCA II is a smaller room near the east end of the Caribbean ballroom.

Tournament!!!

I want to end this con on a high note! This is my favorite game of all time and I would love to get a tournament started. Here's the catch. I would love to do an eight player tourney, but I only have the Super Deluxe version of the game. I have 11 starting teams, so I have enough cards to support an eight player tournament, but I don't have eight player boards or or enough meeples to support four simultaneous games.

Can someone bring their copy so we can set something up? The losers of the first round games can expect to play for 60-75 minutes. The losers of the second round games can expect to play for 2-2.5 hours. The finalists can expect to play for the full four hours.

# of Players: sixteen?
Day/Time/Location to Meet: Carribean I Room, Saturday, 9:30am
Expected Playing Time: variable - depends on how far you go.
Requested Experience Level of Players: Experienced players only.

Reopening this to see if we can get to 16 before the con

1. Evan
2. Gene
3. Alex
4. Randy
5. BJ
6. Burky
7. Matt Anderson
8. Michael Drog
9. Max
10. BJ's son
11. Jonathan
12. Ellison
13. Liam
14. Eric
15. TJ (tentative)
16.

If we can get 16, it will be four rounds of H2H matchups.
If we get any other number, we will have to get creative on solutions. Great that we are getting this many players, but will we have enough player boards and meeples?

With the good parts of all the expansions.

I found the list to late for either of the other games, and there doesn't seem to be a wait list, so I'll bring my own copy.

Thought maybe Sunday, as my flight home is kinda late, but I can do other days.

Speed Dating w/ Billionaire Banshee
# of Players - 20+
Day/Time - Wednesday July 5th at around 7pm
Location to Meet - Loft lobby Bar
Expected Playing Time 1-2 hours
Requested Experience Level of Players - Single

Hey guys so randomly people were requesting a speed dating event at The Dice Tower Convention, so I guess I'll host it. I'll try to keep this brief because there are other places where you can gather info from (and I don't want to take up too much space on this geeklist).

All details and signup are on the FB page

But if you are the type to refuse to ever use Facebook then check out this post with the details on BGG

If anyone would like to assist with running this, the more the merrier!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
First off, if you are interested fill out this form!
https://goo.gl/forms/LDHGM7tMQUa7TlZr1

This will give me info to send to your matches after the event is done!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

**I'm also open ears to suggestions, and will accept any and all help!**

Also last thing, I'm disabling the ability for you guys to see who is going. If there is an uproar I'll change that, but I'd like to make this a mystery.

Also note that if I don't have at least 10 guys and 10 girls sign up before the convention I will cancel it!

Edit: Andy and his dad had to bow out so we are back to needing 1 or 2 more players. If anyone is interested at this late hour. The 3-player short game is only 2 hours if we get one more.

Edit: Let's plan to meet in the Antigua room area (picked it at random; if anyone has a different preference just let me know!) at 6pm on Wednesday. My number is 203.917.0591; feel free to text me and we can connect.

Caleb

I'm seeking 3 add'l players for a 4-player game of AH's venerable Britannia. I prefer the AH edition to the later FFG edition so that's what I'll be bringing.

Warning: this is a 5-hour game if more than 1 person is new to it. I am happy to teach, but just want everyone to know what they're signing up for if you haven't played before.

Thinking of doing this on Wednesday evening, starting around 6pm.

OK, we have 4:

Caleb
Andy
Andy's dad
Alex

If anyone would like to sign up as an alternate please do.

I had this semi-professionally crafted from files freely available on Reiner Knizia's website. So far I've played a couple of times and it really makes the game interesting and different. I know this was a much-anticipated expansion for years and even now that the rules and artwork are freely available, it's not the easiest thing in the world to put together, so will definitely bring this and would love to let anyone who's interested try it out.

This is one of my wife's and my favorite games, and we're wanting to play with a few of the expansion modules together. Because of this, I'm hoping to have players that have either played or are at least familiar with the rules of the base game (The Big Box rules are available on BGG ). The modules we'll be using are: A New Beginning, Outlaws, and Horses.

Carson City - All Expansions, No Horses

# of Players. 5 (no more, no less)
Day/Time/Location to Meet. Wednesday at 3 PM in the main gaming room
Expected Playing Time 2-3 hours
Requested Experience Level of Players Beginners/tenderfeet welcome

I have all the expansions to Carson City without the big box. I have played so many times and ran the game every day at the last DiceTower Cruise. I prefer to play the game with a random assortment from all the characters but without the horses since with the horses, someone just decides to be a rodeo clown and this game isn't about rodeo clowns.

Be ready to have the most fun you've ever had in a worker placement shootout!

Would anyone be interested in playing this improvement to the theme of Agricola? This is a game that rarely comes off my shelf because of the set-up time required, but if there is a group pre-disposed to play/learn it, I would like to play it.

The game requires 30 minutes per player to play, so I will limit it to 4 players to keep it manageable. Please respond if you are interested and we will arrange a suitable two hour block.

Time: Wednesday, July 5, 5:00 pm
Place: Caribbean Room -- in the II area if you look at the room map -- go to the left and back as you come in the front of the room...I will try to be against the rear wall of the room. I will have a striped engineer's cap to help you identify me....

Players:
1)Byron
2)Daniel
3)Jesse
4)Jason

My phone/text is 850-591-7153.

Looking forward to some great gaming!

Matt, Obviously we can spilt the games up so that there is an even number of players. Also, if we don't have enough players for two games we can combine the games to one. We can play at the same location so we can teach the new players. Thanks, Damian
