Had to quickly track this one down since it's a pretty good fit for my interests: smaller wargames that play big (especially ones that aren't merely tactical).

It's not a States of Siege system game, but that's a comparison that can be made because of the limited areas of attack, and the dice-based solitaire system. Apparently this same system was adapted to the American Revolutionary War with Don't Tread on Me. (More broadly, I'm really interested in comparisons between the AWI and Vietnam.)

I'm not playing this again for the podcast, but had a chance to play it in-person several years ago and can discuss. These days I'm guessing it's the Vietnam game most wargamers are familiar with.

Can't locate the magazine itself, but I know I've got the game. This is a very different "battle" or "theater" of the war, pretty unique to Vietnam. I'm not a naval wargamer, either, so this is all very new to me.

(I really hope I locate the magazine, because I'd learn a lot from the articles about the riverine conflict and "brown water navy.")

My reading clarified how distinct the Special Forces/Green Beret engagements (and timeframe) were from the Air Cav/Khe Sanh part of the war. This scale of wargame isn't really my favorite (too tactical), but I may experiment with it a bit to learn something.

The ratings aren't very good, but since I'm not playing Silver Bayonet this is my only game on the Battle of Ia Drang. Update! I found the subsequent, better-reviewed magazine game on the same battle, so I may not bother playing this one.

I've had this game forever, even two versions of it. It came from my interest in the old microgames of Metagaming, Task Force Games, SPI, and others, which predated my interest in historic wargaming. Now I'm especially interested for the explicit rules about helicopter operations within the game.

The granddaddy on the topic. People UNfamiliar with me or my podcast will be expecting to hear about this one. But it's just too enormous for me (I'm generally not interested in smaller scenarios). I love reading about its innovations, though.

Another go-to Vietnam game for many wargamers, I'd imagine. I don't own it. Maybe some day when we're able to get together again I can watch some turns of it played at a GMT Weekend.
