A list for my friends & I to list games we want to play at the GMT Weekend at the Warehouse (Oct 5-8, 2017).

My own ideas have a super strong French & Indian War bias, since that's a topic I happen to be diving into now...AND it's one that happens to have a lot of great, light wargames and euro-wargame hybrids. Kind of perfect, really.

I rated mine in 1-5 mugs of beer ( ) for how eager I am to play them. Some of that is how good I think the game will be, and some of it is how much I want to play against friends, in-person. I do a lot of wargaming solo, playing both sides. I don't have any problem with that, but some games don't work well in that mode, plus it's fun to play with friends.

You'll see that really none of the games I've got below are those old-fashioned wargames with hundreds of cardboard chits and hexmaps. I DO have those, but can try those solo.

I tweeted quite a few photos during the weekend (@WargamesToGo)

From the same team & company that makes those great dice/card partnership light wargames on the War of 1812, and then on the American Revolutionary War. Now here's one on the French & Indian War for four players.

I don't own this one.

A modern classic! I've played this several times in person, and well over a hundred online. Yet I've never played my own copy! I'll bring it...although someone may trump me by bringing a copy with the fancier pieces. Regardless, I'll instantly play it. I really love this game. Yeah, of course I know about the Halifax Hammer, but the truth is that I can't pull it off. It requires setting your historical brain aside and focusing only on winning the game. I never do that. I've been the victim of that, but only a few times. Besides, a military victory for Britain IS how it really ended!

I own a copy.

I owned this for years! But eventually sold mine, unplayed. Now I wish I'd tried it once. The GMT weekend is definitely my best chance to play it. I'll even play against a stranger, if necessary, but it would be better with a friend. Since it's a GMT game there MIGHT be a copy I could borrow there, but that's not really how this event works. So I probably need to borrow it from someone. Hmm.

I don't own this one.

The very first block wargame! And one of the least complex. Easy to teach, easy to play.

I own a copy.

After Richard Borg came out with his Commands & Colors system (Battle Cry, Memoir 44), a few other light wargame "kit" systems emerged. This was one of them. Would like to get in a battle or two, if they're fun.

I own a copy.

Since this is a solo States of Siege game, I don't need to play it that weekend. I can do that at home. But I think solo games are kind of fun to play with a partner or two, as a team/co-op game. Anyone interested?

I own a copy.

Unbeknownst to me, Mark and I both share an interest in tabletop Football boardgames. I have this one, looks very cool! One of the reasons I think football is so popular is the strategic dynamic of offense vs. defense.

Anyway, I'll have it in the bag....
