The box has the usual early JKLM box issue in that the paper is coming loose on the inside edges. Otherwise everything is in fine shape.

This is a light deduction game. Players each have a secret identity as a jewel thief and move around a mansion stealing jewels. The jewels are worth points but the thefts give clues to players' identities, and you can also get points by deducing those.

It's been played once and is in fine shape.

This is a crayon rails (Empire Builder family) game set in West Virginia. It is (of course) smaller than other such games and has some play differences, e.g. every card has a coal load but coal loads need to be generated by players building to mine spaces.

This was made by Mayfair in small quantities for a museum exhibit back in 1991 and is consequently extremely rare.

This copy is generally in good shape and is quite playable. It also has extra laminated copies of the card sheet so each player can have one (instead of using a deck of actual cards players roll dice and reference this sheet). The flaws:

1. The crayons are missing. Crayons from any other set will work fine, as will various kinds of erasable pens.

2. A few of the bills (standard Empire Builder money) have been wrinkled. The rest appear unused.

3. One each of three of the railroad contract sheets is missing (used by a previous owner). There are still four copies of each of these and five of the fourth railroad. One or two of the remaining sheets have minor marks on the edges. These are used to track the "cards" and available coal loads each player has - they can easily be copied (permission to do this is given in the rules).

4. The outside of the tube has some water damage and some tape was applied to this area. The inside was not affected.

The pictures are of this copy - you can click through to see larger versions.

Small World, Schmall World. How about a game where you can actually make out which terrain is which and easily see everyone's pieces on the board?

This is the second English edition, aka the one where the English rules aren't full of holes; the first English edition had awful rules (and at least one counter error).

It's been played but is complete and in very good condition. The box has minor shelfwear.

This is an old German abstract strategy game. Aficionados like it a lot - see Eamon Bloomfield's review - but I am not an abstract strategy person so am not likely to play it much.

The rules are in German but English rules are available on the game page. The board has a little wear around the edges of the folding sections but is perfectly usable. The pieces are fine. The rules have wear and a few small stains. The box has wear and some small torn swatches, but is intact.

This is by Karl-Heinz Schmiel (designer of Die Macher, Tribune, etc.). It is an evil memory game, which while aimed at children is quite challenging enough for adults, believe me. The components are in good shape. The box and insert have noticeable wear but are intact. It includes an English translation and the components are language-neutral.

A game by the inimitable Frank Branham. It's a good game, but I just never play it - you know how it is.

It's a race game using programmed movement cards. This is the second edition, which as I recall differs from the first in having a board made from sections of light cardboard rather than folded paper. The cards have been opened and the pieces stickered, but the chips are unopened so it probably hasn't been played. The box bottom has been indented but is intact.

This is an oddity: a no-luck racing game published in 1955 by Parker Brothers (and subsequently by others). Had a revival of sorts after Phil Orbanes wrote an article about it for Games & Puzzles. Paul Jeffries used to sell (or may still sell) his modified version of the game.

This is the original Parker Brothers edition, in English. The box lid is in lousy shape, with pieces coming off, but the box bottom is OK and the contents are in fine shape.

This is an abstract tile-placement game with some similarities to Knizia's Indigo, although here players are trying to connect opposite sides of the board. It's decent, although possibly could use a little tweaking. My English translation is included.

It is one of a set of games produced in the late 1990s by a Dutch company called Pseudon Productions. This was run by Theo Jansma who also designed all but one of its games. None of the games had professional production standards, but the components are generally adequate. The ConXion components are in decent shape (the board has some trouble laying flat, but it probably always did). The box has some split corners.

An interesting worker-placement game with a Roman theme (Aquileia is in northeastern Italy and was a major city in the late Republic and the Empire). It was not distributed in the US, or at least not widely. It comes with rules in multiple languages including English.

It's been played several times but all components are still in fine shape (the rules have a little wear from handling). The box has minor shelfwear.

Attacktix uses figures that look something like Heroclix figures. They move across the table using little wheels that click, and attack by either shooting plastic missiles or (for lightsaber wielders) pulling back the torso and letting it swing around. It's not a deep game.

This lot has figures from the Star Wars line and from Attacktix Battle Figure Game: Transformers. There are a number of loose figures from starter sets: two Wookie Commanders, two Clone Commanders, two Obi-Wan Kenobis, two Darth Vaders (Episode III version), a Battle Droid, and a Clone Trooper. They have been used but have their weapons and seem to work well. There is also a rulebook, an unopened CD-ROM, and a few loose weapons (presumably from lost figures).

This lot ALSO has an unopened Intergalactic Showdown set as seen in this picture:

This set has the real Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, a stormtrooper on an AT-RT, and three Transformers figures: Megatron, Super Optimus Prime, and an Omega Sentinel. The box is fairly worn but the figures are fine and it's not the sort of box you'd keep anyway.

This is a Knizia design only available from Desyllas, a Greek publisher. It's a simple but not uninteresting set collection game. It is not a reskin of any other Knizia design as far as I am aware (and I've played a lot of his games).

This is the international edition which has rules in several languages including English.

The game has been punched and played but is still in very good condition.

This is like Clue, but better. It has the same basic structure as Clue, slightly expanded (there are now eight suspects), but with some significant changes. For one there is no die-rolling - players merely move from location to location so there are no wasted turns. Furthermore, the players are not suspects; the suspects are controlled by the game and move from location to location as well, with sound clues provided to help you track them. Each suspect has a card (in an envelope) which you can look at if you end up in their location.

So it's still not an amazing deduction game, but it's suitable for play with older children and non-gaming adults and it removes most of the annoying aspects of the original game.

The game has been played a number of times but all the components are in fine shape with the slight exception of the (entirely unnecessary) cardboard mansion which has a little wear from being placed on and taken off the board each game. There are plenty of record sheets left. It has been stored without batteries in; I put some in just now to verify that it still works.

This is a set of three Knizia designs taken from his Neue Spiele im Alten Rom collection:

1. Imperium. This is significantly altered from the version in NSiaR, and I think this one is more interesting. This is being redone by Grail Games as King's Road; their version has a few additional tweaks (and better art) but is substantially the same, and the rules changes could be used with this version.

2. Circus Maximus. This is a pretty good abstract chariot racing game. It's identical to the version in NSiaR as far as rules are concerned, but this version has a more attractive board and pieces. (The pieces could also make nice substitutes for the cardboard chariots in EGG's Chariot Race, although only for five players.)

3. Hannibal vs. Rome. This has some changes from the NSiaR version.

This set has been used a few times but everything is still in excellent condition.

Second (and last) edition. There are German and English rules. (There are action cards which only have German on them, but there are just a few types so it's not hard to remember what they do.)

Played a few times, so the file cards naturally have some light marks on them from the paper clips. The box sleeve has a little wear.

A very old (1884) set of simple games to play with cards showing musical notes.

It has the rules and probably all the cards (it has 48 and other copies are listed as having the same number, so it's probably correct). The rules are in decent shape. The cards don't have much wear as such, but all have at least a little discoloration from age and/or contact with the box, and some have a lot of it. The box is in rough shape but is still usable.

The pictures here and on the game page are of this copy.

Played several times. The base set of cards show a little wear but are perfectly fine to play with (and this is inevitable unless you sleeve them as the cards are not of great quality). The blocks also show a little wear which is also inevitable and not a big deal.

Includes Blocky Mountains: Starting Player Route Card and Blocky Mountains: Add-on. Both are probably unused. The rules for the Add-on have been folded.
