Rules and Guidelines:
1 This trade will utilize the OLWLG (http://bgg.activityclub.org/olwlg/) please get comfortable with it before the end of the trade. There are a number of great videos that exist to teach you this, so please watch one of these. If you have any questions afterwards please feel free to ask me.
2 You are required to accurately describe the condition of your game. This entails inventorying all parts including inserts, and describing all cosmetic bumps, scrapes, rips, stains, etc. Should you find your game is in lesser condition than you originally listed it, do not edit the listing. Delete it and relist.
3 Please state which printing, or at least the year in which your copy was printed. If the primary language is something other than English, this needs to be clearly stated, even if the game is language independent. Please subscribe to all of your listings and publicly acknowledge all questions.
4 Add sweeteners by typing the name of the game into the "board game" box of drop down menu so they properly displays in the OLWLG.
5 If you have reason to remove an item, please DELETE it. The OLWLG handles this just fine. See rule 6.
6 Subscribe to any and all items you are interested in, rather than writing down the number. If you write down the number and an item gets removed, the number will change. This also allows you to keep track of possible changes and questions on that item.
7 Items that are not in the database but related to gaming or a similar culture are allowed within reason. You will need to use outside the scope of BGG and altname tags.
8 I will allow giftcards and cash, with the understanding that arbitage (attempting to trade money for more money) is NOT allowed, will invalidate math trade results, and will result in your item or items being removed from the math trade. ALSO, the policy on BGG now is that cash or gift cards traded in math trades must pay a 3% fee to BGG. This is the responsibility of the trader, and is to be completed through the marketplace.
9 If you submit items for trade you are expected to also submit a want list. If you decide that you do not want to trade any of your items, please submit a blank want list. IT IS PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE to decide you do not want to trade anything. However, if you do not submit a want list then I'm left wondering if you forgot, or if I mentioned the due date incorrectly somewhere, and I get stressed out about it.
10 It is expected that you will be able to hand deliver the games you are giving to the recipient. Because of this the trade is intended for people who live in the city of Buffalo and surrounding suburbs. If you live a more significant distance away (Batavia, Niagara Falls, Boston, Holland, etc), you will be expected to head to a more central location for the hand-off. If you are from out of the area but have plans on coming into the area for the trade (Ontario, Erie PA, etc) please contact me before posting.
10.1 Please expect to be able to complete trades within a week of the trade's conclusion. That said, we're all people living in a world filled with work and family and events beyond our control, and we are also approaching the time of year where snow may be a factor, so please be understanding of eachother when appropriate and do your best to work out scheduling issues. Some people are comfortable driving in conditions that others are not. Do not shame people if they don't want to drive when it is snowing or has recently snowed.
11 There is no official meetup, and at present no unofficial meetup. Please use the discussion forum and the Facebook page to plan any meetups.
12 Any disputes will be mediated by the moderator. Results not final until posted by the moderator.
General Notes About This Trade:
Be polite. If you have a question, ask politely. If answering a question, answer politely. The internet is filled with animosity right now and this math trade, as an extension of my enjoyable hobby, is not. Please keep it civil and welcoming.
I had planned on only running two of these a year, however I'm trying this fall one out because of the relatively high number of people who either didn't know about or couldn't find time to participate in the Summer one. I can't tell you when the next one would be, it depends on how well this one runs. These math trades are only as good as the number of people who are involved, so spread the good word. Even a person with one game to trade can make a chain of trades happen.
Thank you all, and as always feel free to contact me here or on the Facebook page with any questions or concerns you may have.
