This is a geeklist for a Portland/Vancouver metro area no shipping math trade. This list is where you post your offerings for trade. Offerings can include games, cash and a limited number of items outside the scope of BGG.
You are welcome to participate in this math trade if you or your proxy can make it to Guardian Games at 12:15 pm on December 3rd to exchange games.
Adding your items early is encouraged. Family life, work stuff, and technical glitches all tend to pop up right before trade deadlines so post early and post often!
List opened for submissions: Saturday, November 18th
Deadline to add games: Saturday, November 25th, 10:00 PM
Want lists due: Wednesday, November 29th, 10:00 PM
Results posted: Wednesday November 29th, 11:00 PM (or sooner!)
Game exchange: Sunday, December 3rd, 12:15 PM at Guardian Games
The Official Trade Event
We will meet Sunday, December 3, between 12:15 and 12:45 pm at the Guardian Games Euro Board Game Day. I'll plan to reserve one of the gaming tables, with a "MATH TRADE" sign, but watch the discussion list in case there are additional details for some reason.
If you can't make it to the event, you can have someone attend in your place, to make the exchange. Or you are free to exchange your games at any other time or place, as long both people involved in that link of the trade agree to it. Note that you will probably be giving a game to one person and receiving the corresponding game from someone else, so you'll have to make arrangements on both sides (or else just attend the in-person trade). The default is to meet up at Guardian on December 3, so if one trader can only make that time, the other is committed to trading there.
What is a Math Trade?
It is a way to trade games, and you don't have to do any math! Local no-ship math trades are especially nice because you don't have to pay for shipping. If you have never participated in a math trade before, you should probably read the BGG wiki page on math trades: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/wiki/page/math_trades or this geeklist: A 'Math Trade'? WTF is that?. Once you have a sense of what a math trade is, you might take a look at the Math Trade Video Tutorials to see what you actually have to do to participate.
Rules for this Math Trade
You agree to attend the actual in-person trade at noon on Sunday, December 3 at Guardian Games, or else make other arrangements that are acceptable to the person you are trading with. The default is to meet up at Guardian on December 3, so if one trader can only make that time, the other is committed to trading there.
Saturday, November 25, 2017, 10:00 PM Pacific Time is the deadline for adding your items that you want to trade. Keep in mind that adding items to the geeklist does not obligate you in any way. Please try to add your items early and review your items on Saturday the 25th in case there are any last-minute questions. That way you can reply to the geeklist before it is locked.
Wednesday, November 29, 2017, 10:00 PM Pacific Time is the deadline for submitting your want lists. Submitting want lists DOES obligate you to go through with whatever trades the system comes up with (from among the ones you agreed to in your want lists).
Here is the Discussion Thread, and it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you subscribe, as there may be important announcements. If you don't subscribe, at least check the thread a couple times in the day before each deadline.
You may list any number of boardgames or expansions (or bundles of boardgames and/or expansions), new or used. You must list the CONDITION (of box and components). It is strongly recommended that you mention the LANGUAGE, but if unspecified it is assumed to be English. It is also strongly recommended that you mention the EDITION of each game. You are responsible for trading the game you describe, so make sure that your item description and photo match the game you are trading. If there are no suitable images in the database, pick the one that's closest and make a note in your item listing.
If you need to change your item listing: First, if you want to withdraw the item, you can simply edit it to note that it has been withdrawn, and then be sure to submit a blank want list for it. If you want to add "sweeteners" or clarify the description in ways that make the item BETTER, feel free to do so. However, if you need to clarify the description in a way that anyone might feel makes it WORSE, withdraw the item instead, and re-add it as a new item with the correct description. NOTE: In this trade, it is OK to delete items from the geeklist. If you do so, however, please post a note in the discussion thread saying you did so, to avoid confusion.
Game sweeteners must be listed using either the GAMEID formatting (for example: gameid=1 inside square brackets [ ] yields Die Macher) or you may alternately use a link to the game's page (like http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/1). Including images is also helpful.
Duplicate games are allowed, even from the same user. If you own multiple copies of the same game and would like to trade them all, add the following to your item description:
Where "2" is the exact number of items you have. Then you and everyone else can treat it as a single item through the OLWLG.
You may list up to 3 non-boardgame items (e.g. accessories, DVD's, video games, etc.). These may be freely added as sweeteners to boardgame items if you wish.
Gift Certificates and cash are allowed in this trade. Geek Gold is allowed as an item or as a sweetener. Cash transactions are subject to BGG guidelines.
If you are listing a non-game item (including Geek Gold), or an incomplete game, game parts, or promos that don't have a BGG item, then please use the special BGG game entry named "Outside the Scope of BGG". Then describe what you are offering. If you are offering a bundle of multiple games, you can either list it under one of the game titles (with other games as "sweeteners"), or use "Outside the Scope" and list the games you are offering as this single package.
Please use altname tags for items that are "Outside the Scope of BGG" so that they show up nicely in the OLWLG:
+altname+ TITLE OF YOUR ITEM HERE -altname-
This tag can be anywhere in your item description. Most people place it at the bottom. The tag only works with Outside the Scope of BGG or Miscellaneous Game Accessory, so please use those entries as suggested.
It is strongly recommended that you subscribe to any items you add to the geeklist, to be aware if people post questions. Also, please check your geekmail regularly, in case the moderator or another trader has questions for you.
You must use the OLWLG ( http://bgg.activityclub.org/olwlg/ ) to submit your want lists. Note that if you have previously submitted items to a different math trade, or if your BGG collection is up to date with Trade Condition text, the OLWLG allows you to easily post those items to this trade (but double-check that the description is complete and accurate!).
After the results are published, please wait for them to be declared "official". They will become official unless the moderator made a serious error, or if there are items in the trade that violate the rules above. Once the results are official, you are obligated to follow through with the trades that you agreed to, even if you made a mistake in the OLWLG and don't want to make the trade. Ask questions if you are unclear about filling in the OLWLG!
In case you have some spare GeekGold, and wish to tip those who made the math trade possible, please direct any GG toward either JeffyJeff (who wrote and maintains the OLWLG) or cokasaki (who revolutionized math trades by writing TradeMaximizer, the software that actually calculates the trade chains).
Wantlists will be submitted via the Online Wantlist Generator (OLWLG).
The trade will be run on TradeMaximizer 1.4 with duplicate protection.
