Following Kyuss and Suzy's excellent idea of using the guild's members's usernames in their games, I decided to do the same and to involve folks in a monstrous Kingdom Death: Monster campaign where members will try and survive the horrors of a dark world upon which a mysterious, grinning scorching sun sheds some light while abnormal baby monsters feed on them from an eldritch sacred pool.

I will be telling the events of the game with 1 entry per session (hunt, showdown and settlement phase).

If you are part of the Guild and would like to see your name in the campaign, please subscribe in this thread.

IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED THE GAME AND INTEND TO, BEWARE, SPOILERS APLENTY!

An event powered by Le Comboteur Fou
Visit the guild!

The event is CLOSED. Thank you for following along, and see you around!

Athena was one of the first survivors. She was the one who cut the first lion's strange hand.
She wanted to stay clean and pretty to have a chance at intimacy, and value her sanity above all else.
As a result, she died of mortal terror when the Gorm flashed its lure in her face. Her skull was eaten by Kerskine.
Her last words were: "Oh my Raz the baby's gonna puke on me I'll look dirty!"

Sarabear was one of the first survivors. She wanted to whip monsters until they bled to death. She was good at dodging and fearless. But she failed to dodge one hit too many, and she actually was the one that bled to death fighting a Gorm. We believe she would be proud to have gone in a blood geyser erupting from the heel. It was in character.
Her last words were: "Your tusks will decorate my hovel". Shame hovel hadn't been discovered yet.

Chris joined the survivors when they were looking for a place to live after defeating the Prologue White Lion.
Chris liked being vomitted on, had a cute imaginary friend (hopefully not made of vomit), had a taste for acanthus plants, and liked going to battle naked, having an affinity for bones. It ended up making him crazy. Crazy to the point that he forgot Kerskine necrophagist tendencies, and he joked a little bit too hard on him, pushing Kerskine over the edge.
As a result, he got murdered.
His last words were: "Eh Kerskine, you gonna eat that? I guess you're not right. Wait, don't you see what I'm talking about, Mr. Shattered Jaw?
Yuk yuk yuk!"

Lines was born when the survivors planted a flower in the settlement. As a result, he got a very weird face, and everyone was a bit wary of him. It didn't help that he was possessed. That rejection and possession made him super super strong. But not necessarilyu bright. He couldn't use fighting arts and weapon proficiency. And he couldn't keep away from demonic statues. When he got too close to one, he got petrified and died.
His last words were: "C'mon it's just a statue with a minuscule pen...OH MY RAZ!"

Joke wasn't a joke, and she aimed at being a good killer with her Gorm's jagged rib. Unfortunately, she was too serious about it, and her lack of craziness, means she wasn't able to prevent the Phoenix from messing with her brains.

Jay the Donkey was eager, really eager! She wanted to bathe in blood too, Bathory-fashion, to preserve her skin. She did, in the end. But it was her own blood. That proved quite lethal. But it was sparkly, and for a millisecond, a true fairy tale, as the Phoenix's Razor Winds spilled her blood all around the showdown arena. Then she collapsed, exsanguinated, and finally went silent.

What hasn't Kerskine done? He was fond of others. Maybe too much, as he ended up eating their corpse, thus forcing the settlement into cannibalism. He was also a binge eater, which sucked for him when his jaw was shattered and he couldn't eat anymore. He was also blind, so he couldn't gaze at other's corpses anymore, and that made him mad. As in, even madder than he was prior to that.
But he wasn't all bad, and he did some good deeds, like when he saved fellow survivors from drowning in a pool of vomit. Eventually, sick of being hungry and wanting to chew some stuff down, he settled for an infant Sunstalker he just eased into the world, and, crazed by the smell of blood, ingested it.
It wasn't long before he died from it.
Her last words were: "I'll eat that."

The Pharmacist used to work as a statue in the plains of stone faces. He didn't really enjoy though, and when flower-face Lines started to mess around with his stony penis, the Pharmacist jumped on the occasion to switch places and join the settlement, in the flesh.
Having observed the world for a while he was pretty good at foretelling the monster's mood, and so played around controlling the AI deck for the most part.
Then one day he got a whip and started whipping things around. He whipped the flower knight. The knight didn't like it, and he whipped back.
The Pharmacist didn't like it either, and he died, his rib piercing his heart after being broken by a masterful fencing flower strike.

Like any good Brit, Kristabelle was good with the bow. I mean, it's in their genes, any person born on UK territory can naturally swat a fly 100 meters away with an arrow.
It's scientifically proven.
It's a fact.
Like any good Brit she also isn't used to the sun, that's why she tried to eat it and became a Sun Eater early on.
She thought she had seen it all, she thought she was tough, but when she met the Gorm, it was too much for her to endure, mentally.
It's common knowledge these days, and it didn't fail this time either. When a Gorm meets a Brit, it Breaks It.

Mashing loved smashing. Especially ores. And pickaxes. That was just his thing. After smashing so many things he ended with a Red Fist and that bolstered his fellow survivors a lot, granting them additional strength, which was quite useful. But he was also all subtlety, and his role was often to stack the Hit Location deck in an efficient way for his fellow-hunter to mince the monster.
Unfortunately that didn't make him very resilient, and after too many wounds dealt by the Gorm, Mashing had more blood out, than in, and his heart just stopped beating.
His last words were: "I didn't break the axe, this is gonna be a good year."

The reincarnation of our soon departed very own Athena, Minerva was all about the leather and domination. Her weapon of choice was of course the whip, but what she excelled at was mainly reading the monster's mind and arranging the AI cards in a way that would confuse the beast and have it become less efficient.
At 4 years old she thought she could avenge her former self by taking on a monster baby-faced mammoth. But it proved ill-fate, and when it seated its enormous bottom on her delicate face, she split like a watermelon and died to the horrifying creature a second time.
We will always remember her milky white swollen breast. Mostly because she refused to cover them, and tended to push them in everyone's face.
Her last words were: "Eek, a vest! Get that away from me!"
Resource scavenged from her corpse: The soft white skin of her flattened breasts.

THE FIRST STORY

Well, you know the drill. Ink caked over eyes, lack of language, loin clothes, and hungry white lions...
This time though, members of the Guild are the prey and they won't let things happen that way.
After taking position, they began facing a really angry and hungry lion cub, and decided to take action.
The members today were:
Athena, Kyuss, Sarabear and Kerskine.
From gallery of Razoupaf

From left to right: kerskine, Athena, Kyuss (bald and old as predicted) and Sara (whipping everything as her avatar suggests).

Athena led by throwing her founding stone at the lion and building +1 strength. Obviously she's not concerned about safety and pretty mad at the lion. Everyone did a little bit of damage, and Sara and Athena both deflected the lion's attack by making it roll a 1. That's psychic power!
From gallery of Razoupaf

She said no.

There was unfortunately no crit in this fight, but there were no severe injuries either and the lion either missed or sniffed or was dodged most of the time. A lot of 5s meant not many misses and the guildmembers took care not to stand in front of the lion, so no damage ensued from the hit locations either! The fight was concluded with Kyuss throwing the last funding stone which could have resulted in an insta-death... But since it was on the last wound it didn't matter There were no traps either.
The harvest was pretty good.
From gallery of Razoupaf

A very good start!

While they wandered through the darkness they found the sun smiling on them and shedding light on a pool, and Kyuss told the survivor, with their newly found 10! fellow members (to be named in the next session... SOrry, men will have to be females there!) that they needed to protect the pool, from which he drank, getting both courage and understanding. He also explained that there couldn't be slackers in their midst, and they decided for the Survival of the Fittest principle, each one of them gaining +1 strength, +1 evasion, and 1 per lifetime reroll, and +1 courage for their will to protect the pool. Kyuss also gained the Purpose fighting art for being so courageous.
From gallery of Razoupaf

This settlement shall be named 1PG.

But then a storm started and Kyuss, bold an bald as he always is, decided also to brave it. He got struck by lightning and lost an eye, suffering the Blind severe injury, gaining -1 accuracy but +1 speed.
After these events, the survivors proceded into developping their new settlement as seen below.
From gallery of Razoupaf

The lion's been put to good use.

And this is where I need your help:
- I'm undecided as to what to innovate. On one hand, Ammonia gives the opportunity to start building leather, with sycthes and sickles, useful during hunts, and it protects us from the plague, but it can be gotten free from hunting the lion under certain conditions (which I have never met yet TBH). On the other hand, Drums open to Song of the Brave which is great against Overwhelming Darkness, can quiet the Gorm down, and leads to Clan of Death that make babies stronger (but we don't want to try babies yet believe me).
- What do you want to hunt next? Lion, hoping to get an eye, some claws and some bones to build into the circlet and a spear, maybe a bow? Or the Gorm to build into good axes, maybe healing potions, keeping in mind that we cannot wear heavy gear due to the scorching sun?

You get to decide! Let me know in the comments below

LANTERN YEAR 1: THE GORM

After the poll, you have decided to innovate into Ammonia (+1 survival when departing), and to hunt the Gorm.
So off to the Gorm it is.
From gallery of Razoupaf

What could go wrong?

The hunt was a rough one. On the first space, the survivors all investigated Mating Fields, with Kyuss reaching both his courage and understanding thresholds as a result. He is now Prepared and good at Exploring. Which didn't prevent him from rolling a 1, though. Kerskine, Sarabear and Athena all got a nice little brain damage from their investigation.
After that, flashes of light from the Gorm's lure reduced Kyuss' newfound insanity to 0 and gave all three other survivors a random disorders: Athena became Squeamish, Sarabear suffered Indecision and Kerskine found that his head was a Weak Spot. That's rough. But then the showdown began.
From gallery of Razoupaf

What could go wrong?²

The fight was a rough one too. I was not happy you picked the Gorm because I never made the fight without at least two deaths.
The roles were: Kyuss = utilitarian tank, Athena = damage dealer.
Throughout the fight it was difficult to stay in the grass due to the Gorm moving around when it retches. It was also difficult to not put ourselves in the blind spot (to avoid being trampled during retch) because of the survivors low accuracy.
You get to experience my legendary luck as I drew into the trap as my very third hit location, and the Gorm headbutted into Kerskine, then flashed its lure in the other three survivors' face, knocking them down. Having suffered a brain damage during the hunt, Athena rolls on the brain trauma table. A 2. With results in mortal terror and an instant death. She used her 1/lifetime reroll. A 1.
Athena dies of terror.
We lose our main damage dealer. Kyuss is holding the bone darts to trigger the rawhide affinity bonus, and cannot afford to headband anymore. Trouble is, his accuracy is bad.
The team spends a lot of time not doing damage, scoring on occasion but mostly failing, drawing a total of three traps, and suffering a couple severe injuries, which were particularly harsh on Sarah as she got her arm torn away, suffering the Dismembered severe injury. A couple of turns later, she actually... Bled to death and died in a Blood Geyser.
In the meantime, Kerskine suffered a headbutt which resulted in the Blind severe injury, making our two remaining characters awful at hitting, and a lot of turns are lost trying to hit and not scoring anything.
Nevertheless, Kyuss and Kerskine manage to wittle the Gorm down to its basic action, and Kerskine throws his founding stone... Into the deathblow location, which scores the lure if you kill on it. Trouble is, it doesn't have a critical hit, and so the hit is a fail since the stone doesn't do regular hits! ARGH!
The Gorm takes anothe turn and Kyuss fails to hit, but Kerskine is so frustrated, that he bites into the Gorm, drawing a hit location and critting the Gorm to death!
From gallery of Razoupaf

Additional resources are the result of the survivor corpse and a crit.

The settlement phase was a rough one.
The settlement event was Marrow Hunger, and the nominated survivor Kerskine, who ate Athena's skull to satiate is hunger, forcing the settlement into the Cannibalize principle (+1 survival limit, for a total of 4 with the Nigredo innovation gained for defeating the Gorm). His feat didn't go unnoticed, and the survivors spent their two endeavour to force him out of his nasty habit, turning his Marrow Hunger into a Binge Eating disorder, and removing Murder from the timeline.
From gallery of Razoupaf

So much for innovating this year.

Sarabear's corpse was scavenged and yielded a Broken Lantern. The Gorm Climate destroyed everything that was stored in the settlement's storage, which would be nothing.
Then did Endless Scream scare the survivors. But due to his newfound Insight, Kyuss stood as the Voice of Reason and explained to the survivors that the screams must be from a wild monsters, that could provide with useful ressources. Convinced by what he said, the other survivors calmed down and named him the Orator of Death, granting him the fighting art of the same name.
The resources were spent as seen below, with a focus on weapon due to the difficulty of hitting and wounding experienced during the showdown.
From gallery of Razoupaf

Rib blade and Gaxe, we're gonna score a lot of hits now!

I'm still not clear on whether Binge Eating eats away settlement resources such as Monster Organs. So for now I'll say no and get 4 Monster Greases to provide additional evasion.
Next year, Kerskine won't be able to hunt, but Kyuss can. New survivors will have to fight, but what?
You get to choose!

LANTERN YEAR 2: THE SCREAMING ANTELOPE

After the poll, you have decided to hunt the Screaming Antelope level 1.
For this fight, 1PG members Chrisback, Just an Eye, and Dejun King - who, for the purpose of gender equality, has been randomly determined to be female - will be dragged along the settlement leader, Kyuss.
From gallery of Razoupaf

Best defense, is a good offense!

The hunt started strong with survivors encountering and investigating a vomit pile. Kyuss found it sickening and had to eat his Monster Grease to feel better, but others found that the Antelope was in poor shape and vomiting upon itself. They also found a Shank Bone. Next, the Eye fell into a Sinkhole. He made it out but his loin cloth didn't, and except for his skull helmet he's going in there naked. A few jagged rocks and a new Founding Stone gear later, and after the hunt took longer than expected due to the Antelope being skittish, they made it and found a place full of Acanthus plants and a li'l bit of flower patch. A beautiful place for a slaughter.

From gallery of Razoupaf

The "field" of view will be quite litteral this time.

The fight was not much of a fight to begin with, as the Antelope proceeded into chowing down half of the plants and the survivors trying to pick up the other half. They managed a single fresh acanthus, but also a crab spider and a flower of a very special kind.
They then tried to hit the Antelope, but somehow, they had terrible accuracy and failed for a few round before they started raining hits and crits on the Antelope.
It was not really a fair fight. Its AI deck was manipulated by Kyuss (whom I'll never remember that he has +1 speed) while the others all hit him and never drew a trap.
It wasn't look before the only thing the Antelope managed to hit, was the dust, and the Eye finished it with a Savage blow from his Gaxe, critting him for two wounds. Boom, dead.

From gallery of Razoupaf

The screaming pinata never disappoints.

After Kyuss reached his first age milestone and became a Thrill Seeker, the survivors reached the settlement, which was very thematically crushed by a Heat Wave (I'll let you know that if I kept drawing the top card of the deck rather than throwing a dice to draw the Xth card, we would have had Murder, that's how lucky I am), and then the Gorm Climate forced our returning survivors to stay home to recover: they'll skip the next hunt.
The resources were spent as seen below.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Starting the Antelop set. Give me more Acanthus!

After the survivors planted the flower, survivor Lines was born, with a face just like a flower, and the Flower Addiction disorder. What this means: it (no gender yet) can only go out to hunt the Flower Knight.
The survivors are focusing on defense this time, as their offense is decent for now. A couple of Stone Noses will ensure they don't experience too many brain traumas, and always have some survival at the start of the showndown.
We also did innovate, and have a choice between campaign-specific Hands of the Sun which brings us access to the surival action Overcharge (if you have +1 strength tokens, you may spend 1 surival and remove them all to give your next attack this round devastating 1 - I'm not at all convinced) and Bloodletting (spend 1 resource and 1 survival to do some stuff like gaining understanding or removing disorders - adds nothing to the innovation deck which is not bad as it doesn't bloat it).
I have not yet determined Kyuss's weapon proficiency. F&T would suck because he's good awful accuracy and would only ever hit on a 9. I can only give him an Axe or a Bone Blade for now, and the axe would be a waste, to be honest.

But, time for the polls!

LANTERN YEAR 3: THE WHITE LION

You have chosen Bloodletting as the innovation, and the White Lion as the quarry.
Due to the Gorm Climate, none of the survivors from last year could make the hunt this time.
So this time, we will be monitering the adventures of Kerskine the one-eyed cannibal, Frodo Kinobi, Zakoholic and Emodiu5.
For the purpose of gender equality, the three new survivors are female.

The hunt was a rough one with survivors smelling Ammonia and losing their focus, thus being caught in a landslide, which made Zak lose his Monster Grease, and Kerskine lose his skull helmet which granted him the Gaxe +1 speed and Savage bonus, not to mention the head armor points.
They later found out that the Lion was hunting something else, prowling around, and it took them longer to reach it.
While they were looking they found an old trader who gave them a God mask against Frodo's loin cloth. Frodo didn't have a say.

And then they reached the lion, pretending to be dead. What a cunning beast.
From gallery of Razoupaf

It's faking it.

The survivors are not fooled, though, and they use this opportunity to scavenge. Well, mostly Frodo, since she's got +2 to her rolls. She finds an Acanthus and a Bone Blade, while those who scavenge the tree both find a Broken Lantern. Since there are only two in the deck, they leave it at that.
Everyone then gets into position to strike at the beast, Zak, who's wearing the rawhide parts, controls the AI deck throughout the fight. But they have terrible accuracy and it takes a while before they manage to hit the creature.
From there it's really your classic showdown stuff: the monster gets its belly ripped apart and is slowly losing its intestines, its jaw is shattered and it vomits blood all over Frodo, who thinks its pretty awesome. It repeatedly destroys Kerskine's head, causing him to lose his second eye and become totally blind, and Kerskine decides he's had enough and retires, no longer willing to see another hunt (not that he could, actually).
Two founding stones were thrown to try and kill the beast but it did get another hit at Kerskine's head, shattering his jaw to leave the poor man a binge eater unable to eat, before it finally died on its own, losing its intestines on the ground.
What a messy job.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Sadly, no eye and no sinew

Back in the settlement, a stranger emerged from the dark, asking after a Lantern. Being the only player I nominate only 1 survivor, and it might as well be Kerskine.
Well, what do you know, he gets +1 courage and +1 permanent strength.
And then a third permanent strength from reaching his Bold threshold! Worth noting too, is that Lines gets an additional courage from the Gorm Climate. Flower thing will bravely hunt the Flower Knight when the opportunity comes.
The survivors then notice the Sun shining through cracks in the sky and want to dip in it, but none of them being purified, they just won't be accepted. But at least we get the Partnership innovation for free.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Another time, guild. Have patience!

Innovation this time revealed Hands of the Sun yet again (the deck's thin) and Hovel. I choose Hovel, granting the settlement +1 survival limit and +1 survival upon departure. They'll also be protected from the Gorm Climate. But since Resources still aren't, I'm gonna spend everything I can.
As seen below.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Got to replenish these Monster Grease stocks.

In addition, Zak decided to experience Purification. She's now a Purified survivor and must skip the next hunt, but, rolling a 9, inherited +1 permanent luck (my choice, since it's the hardest stat to boost).

Overall, this was a good and brutal year, with lots of things happening on both side. Kerskine is not happy about it, but he's now an additional reroll for the settlement we can throw under a bus should the need arise.

So, about next year: strategy would have us go for a lion to try and achieve the cat eye circlet, or, most probably, the antelope to try and complete the Antelope armor set, and the rawhide set.
I noticed you wanted another Gorm and I'm curious as to why, since we got the good weapons already and can't wear its armor because of the heat.

LANTERN YEAR 4: THE WHITE LION

The survivors are Dejun King, Emodius, Just an Eye and Chrisback. Theyleave on a hunt for the White Lion once again. It first gets closer to them after catching some aromatic breeze but then prowls away, and the survivors get to resolve the normal number of hunts. They quickly find a monster's corpse and reach their Bold threshold, becoming prepared, as Dejun finds a Monster Bone. After nothing noteworthy, they do find the monster lying on its side and pretending to be dead, like a lot of regular lions do.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Your tricks are old, lion!

They take advantage of this as Chris searches Acanthus plants and Debris and nets two Fresh acanthus and 1 Scrap Sword thanks to very good rolls.

After that, though, the survivors repeatedly fail to either hit or wound, rolling terrible results most of the time, while the lion, who only hits on 7+, consistently rolls very high.
Luckily enough, there are no dire consequences and the tables end up turning, the lion being gutted and unable to move a couple of times, he also loses accuracy before vomiting on Chrisback, who finds it pretty much awesome and becomes insane.
Despite Emodius's rib blade, though, the survivors do not manage to tear additional lion ressources from the creature, even though they land 3 useful critical hits. They do get a skull from the vomit, which makes them slightly more insane.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Not much to work on here but it will have to do.

The haul wasn't as succesfull as they wished it would, but those sinews are welcome and there is material enough for a second King Spear, which is always a welcome addition thanks to Reach 2.

The 4 survivor reach their first age milestone, and Dejun gets the Tumble fighting art (good against collision), the Eye gets Last Man Standing, or in this case Last Eye Standing (which isn't cool because it only works when the rest of the party died) and Chris, being insane, gets a imaginary friend he can feed resources to. Emodius rolled snake eyes and gets +1 permanent evasion! Now they can all be chosen for Murder to protect Kyuss, which was the point of not sending him on the hunt!

From gallery of Razoupaf

The beauty and the puke jetstream.

Upon coming back, Lines becomes haunted, which makes him a very good survivor (a total of +1 accuracy, +3 strength, +1 evasion is nothing to scoff at) but also possessed, so he can no longer use proficencies, masteries, or fighting art. After the Crone told her tale, he also becomes Flower Addicted a second time but, more importantly, inherits a Sleeping Virus... Which is pretty good, even if he dies!
I keep referring him as he but the sex hasn't been determined yet
After the Haunting event, the Gorm Climate keeps on raging but this time, the survivors take refuge in their hovels and are not forced to skip their next hunt. Totally worth it!

That's when something unexpected happens, though. The sun's maw starts opening and power vomits a rich substance into the sacred pool, and so the survivors decide to organize a Vomit Festival. At first it seems dreary as two survivors seem to drown at the bottom of the pool, but Kerskine hears their desperate gurgles and dives in to rescue them (ie he uses his reroll into a 7).
The 1PG can now decide to enlarge the pool but they won't do it this year.
Instead, they innovate and the choice is either Drums or Symposium. Symposium is chosen because it will make digging for useful innovations much easier, as the 1PG can now draw 4 innovations instead of 2 when innovating! On their next innovation, though, they will have to trigger the Edge Trigonometry event.

Remaining resources were spent as such.

From gallery of Razoupaf

We won't let you bleed to death!

The rawhide set was not completed because I suspect you'll want to hunt the Flower Knight next year, which means one thing: bandages.
With the three remaining endeavors, Dejun King was purified and inherited +1 accuracy, but must now skip the next hunt.

Now it's time to vote for the next quarry. No dash still means no level 2 quarries!
We're looking to complete the rawhide set and maybe the antelope set, and start building the leather set. I'll be honest: I'm not sure we can survive the Flower Knight with so few armor. If it was just me, I'd go for the Antelope and try to repeatedly crit it. But I already took the Innovations decision, so you get to choose the quarry.

I haven't decided on the weapon proficiency for these four survivors yet so any idea is welcome. We don't have katars yet, but we have swords, spears, axes and a bow.

The pictures are darker than usual due to the extreme heat and the fact that I'm forced to close the blinds to survive it, as the sun gives in the living room throughout the whole morning and noon. Painful I tell you. But thematic, we're still fighting under a scorching sun!

LANTERN YEAR 5: THE FLOWER KNIGHT

This year the survivors are Emodius, Just an Eye, Chrisback, and Lines 42 the flower junky.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Survivors, they are acoming

The hunt was quite brutal, with the Eye falling in a river but saved from a Broken Rib by the dry acanthus she was carying.
But Chris was almost naked out there save from his bone earrings, and couldn't prevent the Titan from trying to eat him. Only being a Survival of the Fittest member did let him get away with a mere Broken Leg and Broken Arm... Then the survivors reached the forest gate, aiming to enter the woods the knight tends to. But they rolled low and so had to compensate with negative attributes, losses of gear, bleeding, or disorders... Chris, being insane, chose to gain 3 disorders (Quixotic, Honorable and Absent Seizures), while 2 of his friends begot bleeding tokens, and everyone another one from forcing their way through the gate, now making it into the forest where they rapidly found their quarry.

From gallery of Razoupaf

-Get in the ring!
- I'd rather not if you don't mind...

Their quarry was astonished, and rapidly dispatched, despite survivors rolling extremely poorly on hit rolls. Like, only hitting once despite being an eye and having potentially the best weapon of the party?
The real heroes of the day were Lines and his bow, who aimed so well that the knight failed basically all his parries, and being so accurate that he ended up with the Fencing Secret Fighting Art (which... He can't use because he's possessed!), and Emodius who controlled the monster through her headband and made it whiff most of the time, given that the knight only get strength when survivors are in the fairy ring. By preventing it to move, Emodius made it get very weak. Only 1 trap was pulled before Emodius drove a Bone Blade through the Knight's armor weak joints, killing it for good. No severe injury was sustained, but the badge was gained, opening the way to Tactics cards!

From gallery of Razoupaf

Buds of a flower

Upon returning, though, Chrisback, mad as he was, said something that Kerskine didn't enjoy, and so, Kerskine... Murdered Chris. His crime went unnoticed, but the survivors don't feel comfortable at all and so, next year, will depart with +5 insanity and -2 survival.

The Gorm Climate was mercyful and a young survivor gained +1 courage.
There was no special event this time and the survivors innovated right into Paint, which gives us access to Dash and leads to Face Painting, so its great long-term news! This innovation triggered Edged Trigonometry, in which Kyuss had an epiphany, saw the light being cut in two, and suddenly became proficient, or almost, with a katana!
Now, to find a Katana!
This also gave the settlement eyepatches and now Kyuss looks like a total badass (as written on the gear card).

From gallery of Razoupaf

Kyuss is edgy.

The survivors decided that Kyuss needed to be purified to celebrate his being such a good Katana user, and so it did, gaining him back his lost accuracy.
They then proceeded to crafted the totally overpowered Vespertine Bow, which added Necrotoxic Mistletoe to the timeline.
Then also decided to spend 6 resources (5 of which scraps) to expand the sacred pool, effectively gaining access to new gear to be crafted (for which we need to hunt the Phoenix).
That's when they got the weirdest idea:
Let's make babies!
I said no way!
But they said way.
And so Dejun and Kyuss jumped into the pool and blush
And things went poorly, as a 1 was rolled... Luckily, though, a young pervert named Jack Burton was eying their coital activities, and jumped in the pool to fend off the nasty creatures that were rushing to the couple, who happily kept on porking until a little baby survivor was born, named Mashing. Welcome to the world, Mashing

We now have a complete armor set but are still way behind on armor.
With that being said, level 2 quarries are now open to us, too.
The White Lion, will not be hunted, because it's not worth it for the risk.
The Antelope is doable, and nets a crapton of resources at level 2. I'd definitely be going for that.
I don't feel ready for a level 2 Gorm. Nor a level 2 Knight. More armor is needed first. Plus I've never played them modest So they won't be available for this year. I know you wanna die but you still have 20 years to do that!
Somehow, I think I know what you'll pick whistle

LANTERN YEAR 6: THE LEVEL 2 SCREAMING ANTELOPE

This year, Frodo Kinobi, Just an Eye, Lines and Emodius left searching for a level 2 Antelope, having innovated into Dash.
The hunt was a really short one, as, after turning down the offer to risk fighting a level 3 White Lion upon stumbling upon a dead antelope, they rolled into Bloody Eyes, and while his fellow hunters were blinded with blood, Frodo used his lifetime reroll to show them the way, the way being an injured antelope just around the corner. And thus did the showdown begin after a single hunt events.
Sometimes, the Razes are merciful.

From gallery of Razoupaf

I've always wanted to ride a mad steed through a plain of stone faces.

It was a crazy fight. We lucked into a stone face which is great with 3 ranged weapons as it gives +2 accuracy and +2 reach.
Yet we almost didn't use it.
The star of the show was Lines and his Vespertine bow +3 luck. He first pulled 2 traps, on the very first 2 hits... Which didn't matter because they only harm survivors adjacent to the monster or in the way when it moves, which there were none. 2 more traps were subsequently pulled but 1 whiffed and the other damaged Emodius, who did a marvellous job controlling the AI cards, but failed to gain sword proficiency.
There was a lot of running around and it didn't help the Antelope, as Lines critting it made it suffer 1 wound everytime it moved during one round, in which it moved 3 times, so... 3 free hits! Nothing to scoff at.
The Antelope also missed a lot thanks to our high evasion, which resulted in a rapid killing blow. Only one severe injury was sustained, by Frodo, but it was cancelled by the Acanthus, which 3 more of were obtained.
I'll admit I was frightened by this fight but all in all, it went very decently and we netted a TON of resources. See below.

From gallery of Razoupaf

There is a reason why I call it the pinata!

Two survivors attained their first age milestones thanks to the 2xp. Frodo became a Rythm Chaser while Lines netted his +4th permanent strength! Impressive!

Upon returning, the survivors found that the Gorm Climate had gotten worse as it now took effect twice, destroying the settlement's stored resources (aka none) and giving +1 to home endeavours (aka none).
They also noticed a strange feather falling from the sky, and fell silent. A silence Kyuss broke by mentioning that it must have fallen from another quarry, which they called the Phoenix and decided they should hunt one day... Just not today. Kyuss also stashed the tail feather resource.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Bounty from the booty!

After that they decided to innovate and you will be able to pick what we innovate into.
Dejun and Kyuss, having found true love, did some blush and more blush, bringing babies Jay the Donkey and Emilijus into this world, reaching the 15 survivors milestone and thus the Principle: Society, which you'll vote for too!
There was not enough resources to finish the antelope set, start a leather set, or a katar, and with two gorm climates next year there's no way we risk that many resources being lost, so our resources were spent as such, netting useful things such as more AI control, a healing potion, the Weapon Crafter location, etc.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Go ahead, laugh at my inability to take decent pictures.

Which means we have reasons to hunt a second level 2 Antelope, but could also do with anything else if we don't aim at completing this set.
We can probably deal with a lvl 2 lion, and I'd have to do my research to see if a lvl 2 Gorm or a lvl 2 Flower Knight is feasible at this point. I'll study that this week hopefully so these two are not available yet. We clearly are not ready for a phoenix, though. Need more armor. I though that was the case too for the antelope and I was wrong, mind you. Still. The phoenix has other ways than straight damage to kill survivors

LANTERN YEAR 7: LEVEL 2 WHITE LION

The survivors for this year are Crazy Bear, Emodius, the eye and Lines.
As a result of last year, and our accepting darkness, Dejun has been elected as the female leader of the 1PG, becoming Quixotic, a leader, and an orator of death as a result. A well deserved honor.

The hunt was a smell-oriented one as an aromatic breeze let the lion hunt the hunters and helped them reach it faster, avoiding the overwhelming darkness. The survivors found some nasty pool and they couldn't face the thing so three of them ended up emptying their stomach inside the pool, and observed the creatures living in there feeding on their vomit, deepening their understanding. Later, they found a statue. Most of the survivors were wary enough not to approach it but flower boy wouldn't be talked out of it. He laid his fingers on the statue... Which began moving at the same time as Lines stopped. Realizing what was happening, Lines started to open his mouth to scream. The scream never was uttered and Lines mouth never closed as he turned into a statue. The former statue introduced himself as being Redheaded Pharmacist. He was dressed with Lines's gear (meaning: naked and with a ton of weapons), very much crazy, and able to survive. The survivors shrugged, having seen plenty of weird things already, and moved on to reach the lion. The did enjoy his being proficient with daggers, although they didn't have one to give him yet.

This lion knew better than to play dead.

This fight was a slaughter. Crazy bear was all about controlling the IA cards while Emodius ran after it, trying to score a hit with a scrap sword. The real stars of the show though, were the eye and the pharmacist, both hitting and critting left and right, the eye thanks to the bow and the luck charm, the pharmacist thanks to blood paint and the rib blade.
The lion quickly was unable to use grab, which is great since it usually grabs at the end of each turn. That greatly helped. It also lost a lot of accuracy and movement, was knocked down twice, and puked all over the pharmacist, who considered it a great way of getting baptized.
At one point and just before dying, the lion got hit so hard in the jaw that said jaw was ripped off its body and flew into high grasses.
Most of its hits were misses thanks to very high evasion values from the team.
Pure senseless and gritty slaughter, I tell you.

From gallery of Razoupaf

With that many minus one tokens it's a wonder the thing could still move. Looks like its eye fell off its face, no wonder it couldn't hit anymore.

The survivors all aged one milestone, most of them gaining +1 strength with the exception of crazy bear who became Crazed. Proficiency in bow and sword were raised.
The gorms were really losing it and they know unleash acid storms thrice a year, this year destroying the stored flat tooth, and giving Jay and Emilizz +1 courage.

The resources this year were spent as seen below.

From gallery of Razoupaf

The innovation you can't see, is Drums. You won't get to vote because we really need Song of the Brave now that the Gorms are getting crazy.

Leather has been innovated and a leather dress is the first piece. Unfortunately there were not many hides found this year so we couldn't complete the set. But we innovated into Drums and that's getting us closer to being able to overpower higher quarries. Since there were a lot of organs and bones it was hard to figure a way to use them and with three climates per year there's just no way of storing them.
What you cannot see, is that Dejun and Kyuss were on a rampage and porked like crazy, easing into this world Joke Meister and Malone. On Malone's birth they realized they actually maybe shared a deep bond (about time I'd say) and maxed out on survival.
I suspect Zac is pretty jealous, being purified but not porking.
Not much happened in terms of story events. Actually, nothing. Worth noting, Emodius undertook some nightmare training but failed to raise stats of proficiency. The training was stopped before death threatened, though.

And that's it for this year!
Not much seems to be threatening to the settlement right now but it would still be presumptuous to go after level 3s. Instead, we can try and complete a leather and antelope set. Now that we got the eye there's no real reason to chase after a lion anymore. The katars are better with the antelope. And as long as we don't have song of the brave there's no reason to chase after the gorm either. I'd rather not try the phoenix yet. I would rather not have survivors age too fast though, and level 2 quarries double the hunt xp. So we might use nothing but newcomers next time. Which means death is more likely.

As such, no vote: level 2 antelope will be the quarry.

LANTERN YEAR 8: THE SCREAMING ANTELOPE LEVEL 2

It is time for the newborn to prove their valor and hunt and their own. Out this year, are the Redheaded Pharmacist, Emilijus, baby Mashing and Jay the Donkey. RP will control the AI cards, Emilijus the hit locations and will try to axe the monster down, Mashing will shoot arrows in its booty, and Jay will go close and personal, wearing but blood paint and a rib blade and a King Spear.

The hunt was your standard, boring fare: the members survived a stampede, becoming bold in the process (except Mashing) and gaining the Prepared statuts and some understanding, they lost survival all around, got some minus one tokens, and Mashing saw a whale flying in the air, which utterly terrorized him. I think he belched, and mybe even puked, after seeing that. Overwhelming Darkness does that to the Doomed. Also, he got post-traumatic stress disorder and will have to skip the next hunt.

From gallery of Razoupaf

The fight between two meals has begun. Who's gonna be eaten?

They quickly reached the antelope and started ransacking the place of its... Well, mostly its survival, as they failed to gather Acanthus for the most part. They put the one they brought to good use, though, negating a couple of severe injuries, and quickly, thanks to Emilijus savage axe blow and Mashing's vicious arrow, made the Antelope unable to aim properly and to damage them as much as it should. Lucky for the antelope, though, on hits of 8+ it rolled nothing but 9s and Lantern 10s. Antelopes are like that, sometimes. Meanwhile, on crits of 8+, the team mostly rolled 7s. Guild members are like that too, sometimes.
After being close to death, the Antelope decided to chow some Acanthus down, healing 3 health in the process, which invigorated it quite a lot. It then decided to chase Emilijus down across the board, dealing it a fair number of severe injuries, forcing a reroll until finally it managed to make him roll a one and bite the dust, reaping both its arms apart in an explosion of gore. I mean, Emilijus had already suffered from intestinal prolapse and a gaping chest wound prior to that.
What did the Antelope after that you ask? Well it chewed down some arms, its ear wriggling calmly while the look of terror in the remaining members slowly decreased.
No time to mourn. After getting trampled a fair number of time, the remaining team managed to slay down the Antelope by destroying its horns (which is bad since they actually needed them - bad Jay, you could have aimed for the eye instead!). They returned home with some Acanthus, a couple flowers, Emilijus intestines, and monster stuff.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Are you gonna eat all that?

The event for this year was Slender Blight. Falling ill, the settlers lose their mind, and when departing next year, will exchange their survival and insanity values.
The Climate is still raging but the hovel efficiently protects the settlement, and the lack of resources in the storage makes it less damaging.

The good news is, though, that innovating lead to Song of the Brave, and thus it is now time to go and give the Gorm a taste of their own medicine!
Meanwhile, Leather was manufactured aplenty and the leather set is almost complete! Since the climate should be dispatched next year, a pickaxe was also crafted to get some ironing going.

From gallery of Razoupaf

We're going full BDSM this time. Wait, I can craft a whip???

Not to forget, too, that the three that returned all reached their age milestone. RP chose to specialize in fist and tooth and going the Monster Claw Style fighting art, Mashing for the bow and became Ambidextrous, and Jay took the Spear and +1 accuracy. Which is good, because some strength was lost during the fight!

Oh, and also: Dejun and Kyuss did get intimate like never before, delivering two couples of twins to this world! I'll come with the names later The twins are Cang Ling Yee and Adam Castongyay, both female, and Kristabelle (female) and Donutz McGoo (male).

Next year I think you'll agree that we're gonna hunt and hurt some level 2 gorms while bravely utttering some war chants.

LANTERN YEAR 9: THE GORM LEVEL 2

With Song of the Brave in tow, the survivors are ready to have the Gorms stop their mad chanting and to free themselves from the acid storms.
Thus they send Redhead Pharmacist, Frodo, the Eye and Crazy Bear in a Fetid Grotto to unleash some nasty punishment.

From gallery of Razoupaf

It's just a level 2 Gorm, what's the worst that can happen?

The survivors make it through the hunt without too much trouble. Except maybe that while gathering minerals with his mighty pickaxe, Crazy Bear falls into a pit, getting injured to the head and dragging redhead, who attempted to help and got a body damage for doing so.
In the darkness, Redhead and Frodo display a magnificent lack of courage by refusing to spend their 6 survival to save 2 lost survivors. Their two friends must both suffer an arm damage from clearing the path while the cowards lose a courage each. All is forgiven though when they realize that they're passing by their first hunt's ground and the nostalgia setlles in. Before they reach the caves.

The survivors enter the Gorm's grotto and aside from the Eye, everyone decides to wear their waist armor on their head, getting a little bit crazier, while the Eye becomes frenzied and is ready to attack like a total maniac, foregoing his ability to use survival in the process! The fumes from the grotto might have gotten to their heads.

From gallery of Razoupaf

This battlefield is just an excuse to show off my component collector unit (totally impractical by the way).

The fight was as brutal as they come. In part because I had totally forgotten a ton of rules and effects (such as Redhead being narcissistic and thus unable to wear a head armor and thus not having the bonus from his complete rawhide set, or reading the lvl 2 cards such as the one that says -2 accuracy and +2 strength for survivors with low hunt xp). The Gorm retched at the end of each turn and its acidic vomit corroded through the survivors armor, doing some very dreadful direct damage. Unluckily for the Eye, he was unable to dash because of Frenzy and thus couldn't evade the vomit puddles. He took a lot of body damage and ended up with a destroyed back and a gaping chest wound, losing strength in the process, while Crazy Bear suffered a destroyed back and disembowelement, severely reducing his ability to move and forcing him to skip the next hunt.
Luckily enough, a lot of hits resulted in crits from these two thanks to deadly weapons and high luck, and the Gorm lost a lot of accuracy and life, an arm from its atrocious mouth was severed, and it finally became nothing but a pilfered treasure chest by the end of the showdown. While survivors suffered heavy injuries, no loss was recorded and they made it back safely.
Thanks to Song of the Brave, they composed a formidable song to stop the Gorms from wrecking further havoc on the weather while mating, or stuff like that. We're free of the Gorm Weather (until we draw it again).
Upon leaving the grotto, all the survivors except Redhead, lost their footing and fell down to the ground, losing one more strength each. Redhead, while helping them, noticed a baby gorm trembling in fear, but decided not to slay it, gaining some understanding and the Honorable disorder from his good deed. The fallen survivors got back to their feet and realize they were holding a basic resource each. Well, at least there's that.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Now that's a treasure chest!

Back in the settlement the survivors got visited by a gorgeous woman clad in tongue that got the males transfixed and the females very angry. They decide that their mates won't leave the settlement next year, and so there will be a female only party. And they get 10 survival too.

Thanks to the expansions I do know who the woman was

Not much went on during the settlement, aside from turning hide into leather to craft a Leather set headgear, thus completing the set, and adding to it a Sickle and a Hunter Whip. The eye underwent some nightmare training to try and reach Bow proficiency but unfortunately couldn't roll an 8 no matter what.

LANTERN YEAR 10: THE LEVEL 1 PHOENIX

The survivors for this year are Jay the Donkey, Zakoholic, Joke Meister and Frodo Kinobi.

From gallery of Razoupaf

It's prepared.

It was a short hunt, marked only by Joke Meister straining his ankle while gathering some minerals and finding a broken lantern. The phoenix quickly closed in on the survivors but they didn't fall to his ambush, luckily.

From gallery of Razoupaf

And that's where 3-D scenery would be welcome: a phoenix on its tree, and acanthus plants under the survivors.

There wasn't much of a plan to form here, as the Phoenix fight usualy end up one way: everyone ceases to exist after piling an obscene amount of age token and suffering Spiral Age. The longer the fight takes the less likely you're to survive, and since most of the HL cards rewind time to cancel all succesfull hits you're not likely to survive.
And that's what happened this time again. Zac scored a lot of hits and timely crits on the phoenix while Frodo stacked the HL deck and Jay the AI deck, and Joke tried to cut through the bird with its rib blade and spear, but ultimately, they failed too many hit attempts and ceased to exist after suffering 12 and 16 hunt xp from Spiral Age, with no way to remove the age tokens due to low insanity. Soon, the two support characters were left on their own, and while Frodo scored a magnificent crit with her improved fist and tooth that gained savage, Jay missed all the hits she had after Frodo ceased in turn to exist. While the phoenix didn't perform Spiral Age anymore as there was only 1 AI card left in its deck, she ended up finally losing all her survival and couldn't protect herself from the repeated Razor Winds the Phoenix unleashed at the end of each turn after its two attacks per turn, and eventually, died from blood loss. Only her bones were found.

While the survivors endlessly awaited the arrival of their triumphant hunters, the mood slowly deteriorated. The event for the year was Elder Council, and since counting the combined xp of all the survivors is insaley tedious, we'll say that we have between 6 and 20. Thus do we lose to endeavours we didn't anyway have, while they taught two survivors with 0 xp good old hunting tricks, granting them +1 accuracy and +10 survival.

In the meantime, a baby Sunstalker was born and Kerskine was the designated midwife. His blind hands felt the thing and the umbilical cord and he cut it in a timely fashion. It should come as no surprise to anyone that he displayed no emotion, thus gaining the Emotionless disorder, while his binge eating never really ceased. With everyone turning their back, Kerskine decided that its skin was smooth enough to not require chewing, and gobbled up the infant Sunstalker, never to be seen again.

That didn't go very well with his stomach and, later that year, when small berry plants bloomed in the settlement, he was found, along with Crazy Bear, Jack Burton, and The Eye, by a curious and investigating Pharmacist. With sadness filling his heart, the Pharmacist was quick to recognize the condition the four survivors were in and, with a heavy heart and to prevent further contamination, decided to, using his reroll, lead them in an isolated part of the settlement, where he watched the contaminated heads heave and split in an explosion of blood and brains and gore. Professional as the pharmacist was, it still was too much for him to bear, and he slightly lost his mind, running around naked and screaming until he was found sobbing in the fairy ring, where it was evident that he contracted a Flower Addiction disorder.

From gallery of Razoupaf

You wanted death? I give you death.

Upon inspecting the remains of their dead friends, the other survivors plucked Kerskine's and Bear's hide, Jack's eyes stuck on the door, and some amalgam of blood tissue, bone, and fur from the Eye.

With no endeavour there can be no innovation, and since we're still stuck with too many organs, there won't be crafting either.

But there comes the time for a hunt too.
Having no incentive to carry on, no set strategy, and no gear I'm after, I'll let you decide what's next in the comment section.

LANTERN YEAR 11: THE SCREAMING ANTELOPE LEVEL 2

The survivors this year are Redhead Pharmacist, Mashing, Kristabelle, and Emodius. And they're hunting a level 2 Antelope.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Just so you see what the survivors grid look like.

Emodius whips a cancer pigeon down during the hunt, netting a hide. Since the antelope keeps on running away, the survivors are soon famished, and stop to eat a corpse they find along the way. After inspecting a river, Mashing falls down to it and an insect forces its way into its mouth, wrecking its ribs... And maybe more? while Emodius bathes in it he soon realizes that the monster has defecated blood in the river and that it's corroding his armor. Good thing though, they reach a Grazing Field and heal a bit before facing the mad steed.

And face they do!

From gallery of Razoupaf

Now you see me now you don't.

Mashing savagely sinks his axe in the antelope's chest, giving it -1 evasion, -1 damage, and clipping a spiral horn on the way early on, while Kristabelle shoots arrow after arrow, clipping off its life and taking resource after resource from the creature. It does trample a bit, chows some herb down early on, but Mashing and Redhead's control is too strong, and ultimately, while fun, the fight is uneventful and the beast dies without the trap being drawn since it's the last hit location. Inner bleeding got the best of it. It dies with a shrill and a shriek but no-one's insane enough to actually be frightened. They've already faced their fare of antelopes.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Hauling shift

The 1PG decides to innovate into Saga, which grants nice bonuses to li'l babies. Kristabelle tries and undergo Nightmare training after choosing bow proficiency and gaining +1 accuracy to aging, but fails, while Mashing spends time in bed to heal his broken rib. Extremely frustrated, Kristabelle decides to dig the pool to expand it. She feels really satisfied about that. And earns the Sun Eater secret fighting art!
Kyuss feels drawn to the new girl and the beauty of her tan. And boy does he show it to her. Five babies are born from their union, one of them gaining +1 strength thanks to Beds, notwithstanding the amazing Saga bonuses (giving them a first Age milestone and a fighting art! Oh my! With so much graphic intercourse and Ritterflips joining with our ranks we are at a loss, we have no more 1PG members! Which as promised, means Minerva's joining the ranks. But we're still 3 members short wow
Ritter gains a Blotted Out FA (tough luck) and so does Minerva (seriously?) Baby #3 gets Purpose, Baby #4 Rythme Chaser, and Baby #5 Thrill Seeker.

That's so Romantic... Or is it?

LANTERN YEAR 12: THE FLOWER KNIGHT LVL 2

As a result of the Barbaric principle, Redhead gains the Thundercaller ability, which grants him +4 courage and the ability, once in his life, to roll a direct 100 as a hunt event.

The survivors for the hunt are Redhead Pharmacist, Mashing, Kristabelle, and Emodius.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Something wicked this way comes.

The survivors start their hunt by falling in a river of blood. A parasite crams its way down Redhead and Kristablle's throats, which suffer from a broken rib injury, while Mashing gets a minor damage to his torso.
Before they reach the knight, the survivors are driven insane by the wailing of a gorm, losing 5 insanity each, stricken dumb by mysterious eyes in the forest, losing all of their survival points, and Kristabelle loses all her head armor points. Forcing the gate also left them each with a bleeding token.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Not a sound save that of blood droplets falling from our clenched fists.

The knight decides to set the mood from the start, rolling a double natural lantern 10 on its first hit, out of two dice. Whereas on her very first hit, Kristabelle draws a trap.
After whipping down the knight, Redhead maxes out his courage and sees the truth, which destroys one of his eyes, and tasting death grants him the Berserker fighting art and the Bitter Frenzy ability, which are pretty neat.
Sensing that his end is near, upon suffering a whip blow from the pharmacist, the knight triggers a trap (2nd card in from the top in a newly formed HL deck), and rolls a 9-9-10 to destroy redhead's body, sending a bone fragment to pierce the pharmacist's heart, killing him instantly.

From gallery of Razoupaf

"We shall not forget the pharmacist!" said Emodius, brandishing his late friend's bloody bone, the very one that pierced his hard, high in the air.

Emodius reaches a new age threshold and gains the Crazed fighting art, while being the first to trigger Sword proficiency, which lets him, once per attack, roll then select the hit location to apply the roll to.

The event for this year is Elder Council, in which the elders tell a story of a mighty legendary lion called the Beast of Sorrow. The survivor can now hunt this legendary quarry.

A new ray of sun is dipping in the settlement and Kyuss decides to bring Dejun there to make her forget that he cheated on her with Kristabelle. The rite is succesful, their bonding strengthened, they are now partnered with each other, gaining the Sun Eater secret fighting art. I wouldn't be surprised if murder ensued in the following year or so.

Meanwhile, Mashing decides to experiment with lantern, triggering his Bold milestone. Mashing becomes a matchmaker, and the experiment is quite succesful, granting the settlement the Lantern Oven innovation, and Mashing the Red Fist secreft fighting art along with +1 permanent strength.

From gallery of Razoupaf

And that's just 3 out of yet 12 books.

The survivors innovate into Scrap Smelting, which lets them build a Blacksmith location. There's gonna be iron in the future.

From gallery of Razoupaf

If you like it heavy, remember that the scorching sun prevents you from wearing it.

Now before you go asking me to hunt the beast of sorrow, know that it's a slight upping in difficulty from a lvl 2 white lion. It has 3 more toughness, 1 more wound in the form of a legendary AI card, and 3 more passive traits, one of which is trample from the Screaming Antelope, which means Dash is a big, big must. Armor also. I have never encountered the other two (Weak Spot and Indomitable).
It's probably doable. It grants a couple strange resources upon defeat, but few basic resources (only 4).
With that said, poll time.

LANTERN YEAR 13 : THE BEAST OF SORROW

As a result of innovating into Scrap Smelting and my ordering the bukkake knight, we now have the scoopy Club, which wants us to bathe in puke, retching and vomit, because then we can fill the club and throw half-digested morcels of biled food at the monsters, who, horrified by the lack of respect for anything monster-ish on the side of the survivors, will become dazed, and thus gain -1 speed for the round.
And that's very courageous of them, because should I be flung vomit in the face I'd swoon.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Don't mind me I'm just showing my fancy Black Friday dice, custom tokens and mat from Boardgamehell.com, and my Scoopy Club which just arrived.

The survivors for this year are the utterly courageous Mashing, Kristabelle, Emodius, and baby Minerva.
Because of Saga, Minerva has already reached her first age milestone, and thus has the whip weapon specialization.

Now for information, the hunt setup for the Beast of Sorrow is the same as level 3 lion.

From gallery of Razoupaf

This is bollocks. A hefty pair.

During the hunt, thanks to the sickle and to Saga, Minerva triggers both her Courage and her Understanding, gaining one strength and some insanity.
While under overwhelming darkness, during which Mashing and Mashing show utter cowardice by refusing to spend their survival to save survivors from the dark (and thus did let them die), Minerva yet again showed how great a charisma she had, leading the party through the dark and gaining the Leader fighting art.
While gathering minerals, Mashing breaks his pickaxe upon iron. What a time to roll a lantern ten, truly.
The party soon crosses the path of the lion cub, which they slay. This was not to the liking of the father. It's time to duke it out.

From gallery of Razoupaf

It's different from a lion. You cannot tell, but it is.

Because the monster starts with ground fighting in play, the survivors take their time to look at the cards and gather all the resources, then hide in the grass.
On her second hit, Kristabelle rips the monster's maw with a nicely aimed arrow.
Damn, this. was. a. slaughter. The beast of sorrow was very sorrowful indeed to not even manage a serious injury. It took arrows, whips, club hits and sword slashes to the face all the time, and there wasn't much it could do against it.
It did sniff twice and gain accuracy from this, and that did let him manage to land many more hits than it would otherwise have, but still, due to everyone having their max amount of survival, it just couldn't keep up.
And thus did Kristabelle deal the killing blow, gaining the honours of a random fighting art. She thus gains Extra Sense which lets her dodge an additional time per turn (which is rather great).
Because the settlement has saga and destroyed a level 3+ white lion (I guess), the survivors also gain +2 endeavours and Kristabelle +1 accuracy and +1 strength.
I'll be damned if she doesn't get killed upon returning to the settlement.
Getting older, Mashing gains the Phantom Friend fighting art which lets him feed his imaginary friend resources to gain evasion tokens.

From gallery of Razoupaf

So much iron!

The event for the year is Lights in the Sky, which lets us add +1 or °2 to endeavours for the year.
But also, the lights turned out to be the sun opening its maw. Yup, it's that time again...
VOMIT PILLAR!
Emodius chose to embrase the vomit festival, and while gazing at it, noticed a fish going upstream. And managed to grab it! Gaining +1 courage, and a hagfish resource.

Emodius underwent some Nightmare Training and thanks to Lights in the Sky, managed to up his Sword proficiency by two, being now close to mastery. Minerva did the same and got the whip proficiency, which truly looks quite good. The survivors also crafted a Bone Pickaxe, a Scrap Shield, and a Lantern Glaive.
Now, we're talking. Heavy, heavy damage incoming.

From gallery of Razoupaf

A fruitfull year full of hefty nuts and vomit pillars.

LANTERN YEAR 14: THE FLOWER KNIGHT LEVEL 2

After selecting Cooking as last year's innovation, the survival limit of 1PG as been upped to 9.

The survivors this year are the same as last year, in the same roles: Minerva as an AI controller, Mashing as a healer and HL controller, Kristabelle as a range fighter and Emodius as the close combat expert.

From gallery of Razoupaf

This time we feature some lovely spring dice (well easter ones really) and beautiful Ivory survival tokens sent courtesy from Boardgamehell.com as a reward for my featuring the black one in my review. Now that's kind!

The hunt was a nightmare! As the survivors become distracted by some bizarre light effects and delayed by two hunting spaces, they are ambushed by a giant worm, the sight of which terrifies them and grants them a random disorder each, which results in Minerva getting Vestiphobia, destroying her vest and losing the benefits of her complete rawhide set, while she decides that from now on she'll expose her breasts for all to see and will never wear a top again, EVER, Mashing getting Spiral Ganglia (which grants him a Darkness Awareness status at the start of the showdown), Kristabelle getting Indecision, which forces her to use lower results when making hunt event rolls, and Emodius getting Prey, which prevents him from using survival unless he's insane - which, luckily enough, he totally is.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Holy f... WHAT?

Suddenly, on a natural roll of 100 - my first ever in 67 plays - the survivors hear an enormous metallic sound and follow it, arriving before a giant gate, which, determined, they reach, passing a trail of survivor and monster corpses. Minerva, having 3 understanding, rolls a 1 on the table, which should kill a couple survivors, but that's not accounting for her reroll of a 4, which means that the gigantic one-eyed knight striking the anvil before her suddenly turns and chops her ear off. Minerva gains 1 bleeding token, and then, dazing them with a wall of sound as he madly strikes the anvil, the knight leaves a Steel Sword and Steel Shield for the survivors to obtain. Minverva takes the shield, gaining the ability to block a hit for a survival point or her activation action for the turn, and Emodius takes the sword in place of his Scrap sword.
The survivors then get caught in a mudslide, with disastrous result as, aside from Minerva, safe with her whip, they all lose their Monster Grease (and so 1 to 2 evasion each) and their Blood Paint, and take massive amounts of damage, especially Kristabelle.
Luckily, they manage to force the forest gate without too much trouble, each taking 1 bleed token, but Mashing then destroy his pickaxe again while gathering minerals and finding 1 Iron. From then on they scour the forest, finding a Vicious Fly and some Acanthus, and weird droplets falling from the plants grant them a little bit of additional armor, which is welcome, as they finally find the Knight.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Now those high grass come in handy to make up for the loss of our monster grease!

The showdown itself was a tug of war with survivors severely impaired in their movement. Luckily, Kristabelle's bow was as overpowered as it gets, and since she quickly critted a Parry location she immediately gained the Fencing Secret Fighting Art, which let her ignore the effect of parry, meaning she didn't need to crit to hit those locations. Mashing found the traps early on each time and bottomed them out to allow Minerva, Kristabelle and Emodius to land their blows and each get elligible to a weapon proficiency level. After that, it was a matter of hiding oneself in the long grass to emulate the usual effect of their monster grease that they lost in the mudslide, and it worked! But the survivors still had to spend a lot of survival points to avoid injuries, and Kristabelle, by choice, sustained a heavy one, to prevent further onslaught from the Fencing Vegetable.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Well that's not to say the knight didn't have some mighty swings in tow.

In the end she avenged herself by using the +1 strength token provided by Mashing's Red Fist and spend it on her Sun Eater to gain a Surge, land a hit, and crit the final location to spread heavenly petals around in a loud cry of bloody revenge meshed in the knight's fearsome shrill of agony.
Then she spat blood on its corpse while crushing its testicles.
And fired an arrow in its eye.
And cursed.
"This was for the Pharmacist" said she.
You wouldn't believe by reading the previous paragraph, but lo! Kristabelle reaches her second age milestone and on a roll of two 1s, gains a permanent movement. She also reaches Bow proficiency level.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Oh, and it's even heart-shaped! How cute!

The settlement event for this year is Phantom. The survivors will each suffer a hit to a random hit location upon departing next year, but then they'll all gain survival points up to their survival limit, which is currently 9. Lights also illuminate the sky, granting +1 or +2 to endeavour results. But Emodius didn't need this to reach Sword Mastery during nightmare training, and the innovation is added to the settlement. Everyone is now a Sword specialist, while sword masters gain tons of bonuses.
They also decide to spend a Gorm Brain and a Fresh Acanthus to innovate Albedo and add Citrinitas to the Innovation deck.
They then mostly try to reconstitute the gear and resources they have lost during the last hunt, and craft a nice whip for Minerva since she won't be much help as an AI controller now. Knowing Mashing's tendency to break pickaxes they craft 3, just in case. They then store 1 Iron, the Vicious Fly they found during Herb Gathering, and 4 leather.

From gallery of Razoupaf

The resupply is costly and the storage is getting empty.

But hey, it's voting time!

LANTERN YEAR 15: THE LEVEL 2 GORM

The chosen innovation is Family.
The survivors are, again, Minerva, Mashing, Kristabelle, and Emodius.

From gallery of Razoupaf

We'll crush it.

Kristabelle benefits from Emodius' experience during the hunt and reaches her courage threshold, gaining 1 permanent strength.
But the finding of the remains of a former Lantern horde, ie a dead settlement that reached the game over state, quickly sobers them up. The survivors lose all their insanity and each grabs a broken lantern before resuming the hunt.
After hearing Mashing hurt himself at the waist while gathering mineral (good news is, the pickaxe actually survived this time), the Gorm laughs and laughs, making the survivors even more sober and inflicting them brain damage.
That maddened Kristabelle and she quickly got frenzied, which means she won't benefit from weapon proficiency and can't use survival.

As they finally reach the lair of the Gorm, age weighs on Emodius, and he doubles over and retches, and decides to go back to the settlement, never reaching the showdown arena. Sadly, we won't be able to fill the scoop with vomit to daze the monster this year. Oh well.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Let's put on a brave face, Emodius's not necessary after all, is he?

The Gorm quickly starts the fight by terrorizing all the survivors, and both Minerva and Mashing become afraid of the dark, retiring at the end of the showdown, while Kristabelle becomes secretive, and will tend to her own affairs next year, skipping the next hunt. Which means? Fresh crew next year. Especially since Kristabelle quickly gains a Fear of the Dark disorder herself, after rolling 1s to her 1d5 insanity gains due to the multiple brain severe injuries she begets.

From gallery of Razoupaf

But hey, Monsters can roll terribly too!

Soon after, Kristabelle joyfully pulled a trap on her one succesful attack, and her new disorder, Squeamish, allowed her to get rid of fear of the dark, making her a potential fighter once again.
That's when the Gorm decided to unmelt from its base and the Raz had to take a break to glue it back.
Because they spent their time getting knocked down, the survivors couldn't prevent Minerva from getting flattened by a playful Gorm rolling over, and after suffering from a Contracture, a Gaping Chest Wound and a Broken Hip, Athena's reincarnation once again was crushed by a raging Gorm, her heart pierced by a bone fragment. It wasn't hard to miss, she's always had a grand heart full of love. And now full of bone fragments.
Kristabelle, trying to avenge her friend, quickly pulled, her second trap as the first card of the newly reformed HL deck. That's what happens when you don't control it with a cat's eye.
After a brave crit barrage from herself and Mashing, slowly mastering his spear, Kristabelle pulled a third trap, and, inheriting yet another disorder, died from rolling a 10, +2ed by Accept Darkness, and having too many disorders.
It didn't take long after that for Mashing to fail his wounding attempt, triggering a attack in return, and stockpiling bleeding token, he quickly become all white in the face, and died after his guts decided to visit the outside world, unsatisfied by the way he wielded them.

From gallery of Razoupaf

For your sake I didn't capture the moment when the gorm defecated on Minerva's corpse, melted Kristabelle by retching on it, and whistled for its newborn to munch on it while it drowned Mashing in fresh poop.

Because all the survivors died, the resources they gathered, except the Broken Lanterns from the hunt event, are all lost.

Back at the 1PG, morale is low, and after a time, it becomes evident that the 3 hunters won't be coming back. Only 1 endeavour is gained, from Cooking.
After sending scouts, the settlement did find some remains and gear, although the gorm ate anything consumable. They brough back Minerva's skin. Well, mostly that of her milky white, exposed breast she wanted the world to see so much. For Mashing, they brought back a pickaxed-shaped bone, and for Kristabelle, a bow-shaped one, probably from her pelvis.

The Settlement event is Haunted. Joao is convinced he is visited by ghosts, and howls at the moon like a maniac. Nothing happens. Using a stored Screaming Brain, the remains from the late hunters, and the endeavour from Cooking, the survivors innovate and the year ends in misery and despair.

LANTERN YEAR 16: THE LEVEL 2 SCREAMING ANTELOPE

Since last year was a disaster, ressources need to be built upon again, and the easiest way to do that, is by chasing the screaming pinata (ayaye!)

The survivors for this year are a gooey donut, Joao, Horny Ogden and Ronald.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Tokens! Pirates! Death and murder! Arh, hopefully not

The survivor put their sickle to good use during the hunt, stumbling upon a sleeping monster they harvest a hide from it as well as a Fresh acanthus. Oh goody goody.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Old but reliable hide, that should prove useful.

The survivors rapidly stumble upon a stone giant after saving Ogden from a sinkhole, and elect Ronald to climb it. Succesfully doing so Ronald finds 4 founding stone that they archive since they have no room left in their grid, and ambush the monster, getting to act first!

From gallery of Razoupaf

To the death!

Ronald starts by critting on the Antelope's knee, bounding it to fail moving on a roll of 1. Take that, monster. Ogden then crits on the back and before going on a single turn, the monster already is 5 hp down.
It wasn't long before Ogden pulled a rabid rabbit vermin (yay promo card) and before losing all head armor points to it he decided to... Eat it! Which could result in death! Luckily, though, it merely ended in him gaining 3 survival. Phew.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Usually, promos are overpowered. This one is just deadly scary!

Ogden liking to be written about, then got intimidated by the antelope's mad screaming, and only the Accept Darkness life principle saved him from mortal terror, but he still fled like a wee boy, banging his head against the border and falling on his face.
Donutz also fell to the mad steed's snorting and stomping and contracted the Spiral Ganglia disorder, which could have been worse.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Dash has been such a useful move to preserve the survivors, this year. But Dodge saved some bacon too, and we should praise it just as much. Embolden, on the other hand...

Thanks to a wise usage of their Dash action, the survivor manage to stay clear of the Antelope's path and to not suffer from Diabolical, and it doesn't take long before Donutz deals the killing blow. The monster has fallen down twice and its trap has whiffed thanks to being pulled by a bow. This was no challenge at all. But the 1PG really needed the boost of confidence and the additional resources, of which there could have been more. Donutz ages and gains the Crazed fighting art.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Someone's showing off!

The settlement event for this year is Lights in the Sky, which is pretty good.

The survivors decide to purify Emodius, so he can pork like crazy and make plenty of sword-wielding nightmare monster babies. He gains the Protective disorder and +1 accuracy. Of course Kyuss starts porking immediately and does it pretty bad, almost chocking Emo (who is female in fact) to death with his shlung. Luckily she uses her reroll and Kyuss finally gets it right, and a baby is born with +1 strength and +1 evasion.

From gallery of Razoupaf

Just like tires, this is a Good Year.

The survivors use their stored Leather and gained resources to craft a new Leather set, complete with a Leather Shield, and have Ronald undergo Nightmare Training. On a natural 10 he earns +1 permanent accuracy. They also rebuild their Monster Grease stocks, and store the Iron and the Spiral Horn.

Time to vote!
