Please note - I have removed all old placeholders from this list. Please only use this list to record the receipt of games actually received from your Santa.

Only use placeholders to let your Santa know you received your package but are waiting to open it. When you actually open the package, please update the entry with the game(s) you received and express your reaction for your Santa. Please let me know if you experience any problems with this via GeekMail. Sorry for any confusion...now on to the list:

Since we just got our Secret Santa Targets assigned --

Last year's episode of "Look what my Secret Santa sent me..." was well received, so I am creating the same list again for 2007.

I originally posted this as a way to let my Santa know when I receive my gift without him/her worrying about letting me know who (s)he is. Use this as a central area to record what our Secret Santas sent us. If you plan on using this list, you may want to make a note on your profile so your Secret Santa knows to look on the list for your receipt and reaction.

That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be divulged!

If your Santa sends you more than one item, just list them all in one listing unless you think it makes more sense to list them separately. Remember to include any comments you want your Secret Santa to know!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

(I am just using a generic Christmas first item as a placeholder for mine until my gift arrives, at which time I will update it with the real gift). In case you were wondering - yes, I do have a probably unfounded fondness for this holiday.

Now for the big question - do you open the gift or allow it to taunt you from under the tree until your local Christmas/Holiday gift opening?

My Secret Santa sent me two gifts.

The first (Darjeeling) arrived a few weeks back. The second arrived today, and I'm really delighted.

I've heard great things about Wabash Cannonball, but it's pretty hard to get hold of if you live outside the US. I'd tried ordering last month, but it would have involved a friend in the US sending a US postal order, then forwarding the package. Everything was OK until he realised that would mean visiting his local post office - this, apparently, was a step too far.

My Secret Santa is seriously cool. cool

Today my gift arrived! From the true land of boardgaming my Secret Santa sent me two games! First he sent me Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation. When I opened up the game and took out all the gamepieces, the box was still feeling kind of heavy. So I removed some cardboard, and underneath I found another game! Felicity: The Cat in the Sack was discovered and my day was made! The games were neatly gift-wrapped, and a very nice postcard was also included.

THank you so much, Secret Santa, you are both generous and kind! You know how to make people happy!

I got a picture of this game as my SS gift. JK, actually it is preordered for me. (hope it gets here soon) I also got Tichu in my package as well.

I intended to leave the package for opening on Christmas, but I have so many gifts coming via mail for my kids and wife that I forgot to look fot the SS one and I just opened it not knowing who it was from. OOPS! Sorry santa. Hope I'm not in trouble for next year!

Thanks a lot for a merry christmas santa!

My gift arrived on Monday, but due to our game group (www.magers.co.uk) having our own version of Secret Santa and our present giving was last night, there was a chance that I may get the same gift twice and I didn't want to reveal to my game group SS that I'd already got one copy.

Thebes was pretty much top of my wish list and fitted perfectly within our game group's spending threshold too.

But I needn't have worried. Santa was great.

BGG Secret Santa also sent me.

Board Game: Ticket to Ride: USA 1910

I'm a lucky boy indeed.

Thank you Santa very, very much. You rock.

My wife called me at work to report that a box from Boards & Bits was at the front door. A few unexpected changes to my schedule allowed me to leave work a bit earlier than usual.

ninja

Needless to say, I was thrilled to get home and tear into the package. Firstly, B&B did a great job of wrapping the games (yes, I used the plural), and including a note from my Secret Santa. All I can say is how grateful I am to my benefactor. I can only hope that my target was as happy to receive his gift as I was to receive mine. I'm certain that 1960: The Making of the President will be a fantastic game. I'm a boardgaming podcast freak, and have been listening to a number of podcasters review the game. It has been universally praised. My wife and I saw this one played constantly at BGG.CON this year. However, I didn't get a chance to play it myself. I'm really hoping that it will be a game she and I will be able to play together. However, I know for certain that she will play the second game that was in the package.

Board Game: Darjeeling

Darjeeling was our favorite game from the convention. She is absolutely thrilled that I received it as a Christmas gift. I can't say thank you enough for these two wonderful games. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to punch some cardboard!

Ok, so I've been stalking this list, being frustrated everytime someone won't open their game, wondering when mine will be here, curious how excited I'll be when mine comes, worrying I put the wrong address . . . .

A co-worker comes to game nights at my house everyweek, and I've accused her of colluding with my wife to hide my game till Christmas whenever it comes (I had it sent to work so there would be somebody to sign for the package...)

The Fedex and UPS drivers both knew that I was looking for an unusual package that they wouldn't normally deliver to me . . .

And today it came! , I just can't smile big enough. This is what Christmas felt like when I was a little kid. Thank you thank you thank you!

(Ok, and it was wrapped, but seriously . . . I'm weak)

Hooray for more power plants!

AND!

Hooray for:
[don't read if you were my target [he knows who he is, I forgot the "Secret" part of secret santa soblue]

Spoiler (click to reveal)
1960! The same game I bought my target! I'm calling all of my gaming friends to see who can play tonight!

Also, just want to say thank you to:
Aunt Franny's Toys!
My games were purchased at what I assume is Santa's FLGS! [I don't know what I would've done with TH dice anyway].

-----

So I finally started Christmas shopping this afternoon, at my normal FLGS, Yottaquest, but they didn't have what I was looking for, called my backup, they had it and put it aside for me, I drove out to pick it up . . . and my sister's car was parked outside shake; I didn't want to ruin whatever she may be buying for me, so I went grocery shopping and read the rules to the spoiler game as I strolled the aisles )

Hoo-ray for Christmas!

Well, Secret Santa, International Version had Mrs. Claus do the taunting honors. Mrs. C. had indicated as of Monday, that the "Brown Sleigh of Joy" was en route. I was off to pick up my daughter from pre-school when I saw one of the fabled Brown Sleighs down the street dropping off a package. I was sorely tempted to stop and ask, if per chance there was something for moi. Nah, too soon. Long story short, came home and there was a 7 lb. box shipped from a music company in Illinois. Mrs. C. had indicated that the big guy is secretive and would be using intermediaries, but I wasn't expecting any packages, so could it be, could it? COULD IT? mustering all the willpower possible, I put it under the tree to wait for the big day.

Enter skeptical wife (SW). SW refused to believe that some one would be a Secret Santa and just up n send games. She threatened to open the boxes if I wouldn't. Well, Mrs. C. and Santa, I had to 'take one for the team' and do the honors myself. Besides my Catholic SW pointed out that I am Jewish and that Hannukah was um, receding fast in the rear view mirror. So I lit into the box w/ gusto and out came 3 medium sized packages wrapped in igloo paper and one tiny card sized package in shiny silver foil.

Tense pause-they were, after all, wrapped. SW started growling in animal fury-e.g. open the effing things already. Who was I to disobey my long-suffering sweetie love? Open I did:

Amun-Re
Board Game: Amun-Re

I played this once, and the game ended just as I was wrapping my head around the basic concepts. Suffice to say, I want MORE. I want to make big sacrifices to Amun-Re so that my crops may grow, poop in a weaving hut, well you know how it goes...

And then followed:

Race for the Galaxy
Board Game: Race for the Galaxy

I've missed out on the times my group has played this, but it appears that there is quite a bit going on, and I'm looking forward to getting lost in its intricacies and nuances. And yes, I love San Juan and don't mind a variation on the theme.

then as if that wasn't way too much:

Hey, That's My Fish!
Board Game: Hey, That's My Fish!

I've been looking forward to this one for a while, and I think I can play HTMF! on a scaled down basis with my five year old daughter, a "gamer in training".

and finally, the little tin foil package which turned out to be
Jambo: Expansion
Jambo Expansion
Board Game: Jambo Expansion

(Mrs. Claus did indicate that she and Santa had checked in w/ the US version of the Jolly Old Elf). It is the perfect complement to Jambo, which I look forward to playing many times in 2008.

So thank you, thank you, thank you as an integral function with a limit approaching infinity. I was overwhelmed by the generosity and thoughtfulness of my Yankee Secret Santa, and so to am I now once again besides myself with joy and gladness that someone else cared enough to research my wants and meticulously choose not one, not two, but yeah verily FOUR games still at the top of my wish/wantlist.

And yes, Skeptical Wife: there really IS a BoardGameGeek Secret Santa. Despite Santa's multiple incarnations, S/he *really* IS the spirit of the Holiday Season.

Merry Happy Holidays to you and yours o<|:{D

unrelated trivia note: package was mailed from a town next to West Chicago. The former mayor of West Chicago (and current legislator) was my FRP DM during my undergrad days! small world, no?

My Secret Santa is a true Devil devil!

Apparently, my SS gifts arrived last week, but he's so evil that he even has convinced my grandmother to stall and hide them from me.

Every day I've called my grandmother to ask her if she has received anything for me (since I always send my orders to her shop) and it was always the same answer ... not today maybe tomorrow surprise.

Yesterday, I've decided to stop by, because I was also expecting some games from a recent math trade and when I was wondering around I've found out a box from Planet On Games (which I didn't order)! She couldn't hide it anymore ehehehehe, my wife told her about the SS on BGG and they were both playing along with my Evil sender.

Well ... I found it but I was a good boy and ask my wife to open it to see if it was safe (gift wrapped). They are! Not 1 or 2 but 3 nicely gift wrapped boxes !! One large, one medium and a small one. There was also a postcard saying that this order was from my SS on BGG.

Thank you so Much!

You're a Devil ... but as I said in my taunt reply I'm also not a Saint and I already know one of the games based on the shape of the box - The Power Grid Expansion Deck! Yupiiiiiiiiiiiii! My favorite game is now at it's full splendor!

Board Game: Power Grid: The New Power Plant Cards

For the other 2 boxes I'll have to wait until the 24 of December

Please stop by to see my reaction.

Feliz Natal to you and all of your beloved ones (minions )

Duarte

Hooray I received my present last night! meeple

A bit of a surprise really as I had gone to the Post Office to collect a parcel I had been expecting and after queueing for over 40 minutes I was presented with two parcels. The second one was my secret santa gift and I was told by the Post Office worker that it should have been delivered to me a week or so ago - for some reason they didn't advise me it was there waiting for collection and also didn't try to redeliver it this week so I was a little fortunate that I had to go to the sorting office to collect the other parcel. shake

So apologies to my Secret Santa on their behalf in case you have been wondering what had happened to your gift.

I haven't opened it yet as it has been nicely gift-wrapped and it will sit under the tree until Christmas Day. I can't wait to open it.

_____

Just an update to confirm that I received Zooloretto, thanks Secret Santa! Now do I get to find out who you are?

THANK YOU SECRET SANTA!

My package arrived late yesterday evening all the way from Belgium!

Not only did I get the game Race For The Galaxy (Yay!) but included were some wonderfully amazing chocolates (which my wife loves you for) and a 'magical' message that only appeared when the paper it was 'written on' was lit on fire with a supplied stick of incense (the message worked like a charm)! What a thoughtful and memorable gift!

I think I've been able to ascertain your identity from your address. Were you using an ancestral name as your name on the package? If so, I'm almost certain I've got your number!

MERRY CHRISTMAS and thanks for making my first BGG Secret Santa so much fun!

Ryan

Got this beauty from my Santa. Very creative in how the messaging was sent alerting me to its arrival. I've been wanting this game for a long time and never got to purchasing it. I even changed my avatar to celebrate the arrival of bugs to my home! Thank you, Santa!

Thanks a lot Secret Santa. Honestly i didn't think you'll give me anything this year because i'm been a naughty boy and i live very far from The North Pole.

But now that i have my gift i'm as happy as a pig with a new lace (regional joke, sorry).

Thanks a lot and i promise to behave better next year.

Y'know, It didn't dawn one me when I posted earlier (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/25338/item/551931#item...) that the gift I got there MIGHT have been from my U.S. SS (yep...was in two SS's this year). Since I'm not sure which is which, I'm posting what I got from both on both lists to cover all my bases.

So, I arrive home today, driving through the lovely snow we're getting for the 3rd time in about 2 weeks, and see a box by the door from Boards and Bits! I open it and find two wrapped gifts in there, one large, one small. Having absolutely zero self-restraint, I tear into the big one and find Ave Caesar! I've wanted this game since playing it a long while ago. Attached to Ave Caesar was Coloretto Amazonas - Erweiterung, the expansion to Coloretto Amazonas. I then tore open the smaller package, expecting maybe Coloretto Amazonas and find Coloretto! Turns out my SS's both have excellent taste and got me Coloretto! It does make me wonder a little if Boards and Bits sent the wrong expansion, but nevertheless, I'm very very happy about my wonderful gifts and look at the expansion is potentially a reason for me to get Amazonas!

Wohoo! I got it! My secret santa made a great choice and sent me Dungeon Twister, a game that has been in my shopping-cart so many times I have lost count, but in the end always had to leave to reduce cost or whatever. Anyway, I am really happy to own this one since I am sure it will be perfect to play with my wife. We both love Fantasy, and the game is just beautiful!

Santa, I know this must have cost you, a lot. Game are EXPENSIVE here, especially for someone from the US which I guess you are. (?) Your effort and thought are very much appreciated, a very merry christmas to you!

The present has arrived and although wrapped in Christmas paper I couldn't resist. Based on the size of the package I already guessed what was inside.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Secret Santa

Unknown to you this is the perfect gift. OK, it was on my wishlist but coincidentally archaeological digging is something I occasionally do of a weekend. A muddy field on the English and Welsh border is not quite Egypt or Mesopotamia, but I can dream.

Now I just need some clues to track down Santa. The game was posted from Land of Games (a UK online site) but it could have been ordered from anywhere, so not much to go on... ninja

Updated as I have now opened the boxes...

In the first box was a copy of Fairy Tale (image to the left). Thank you as this will be a good game to get the CCG players to join in with us on a Saturday afternoon as they are quite familiar with card drafting and the pictures should interest them. (I am not sure if that qualifies as 'theme').

In the second box...

Board Game: Saboteur

Thank you very much for Saboteur I should be able to get this on the game table by the New Year. The quick playing time and the ability to get most any number to join in (admittedly some numbers are better than others in terms of playing experience) makes it ideal for when we are waiting for another game to finish up.

In the third box...

Board Game: Khet: Eye of Horus Beam Splitter

I cannot say that I am good at Deflexion/Khet, but the Khet: Eye of Horus Beam Splitter should give me whole new ways to lose. I look forward to sitting down to a game to see what these do.

and finally my overly generous Secret Santa sent to me

Board Game: Arkadia

I played Arkadia with Gwen, Simon and Tessa at Essen this year whilst waiting for a copy of Year of the Dragon to free up and we all enjoyed it very much. I am looking forward to introducing it to my local group.

Thank you once again for the many games, Secret Santa. I hope that you have received games that interest and will entertain you during the holiday season and beyond.

In addition, my thanks to Shire Games for going the extra mile by wrapping the presents, for the colourful labelling of the parcel and making sure that it was delivered on time.

Awesome! I received my secret santa gift today! Thanks so much whoever you are! I was home at the time because I had worked all night and what a great surprise! I love to use exclamation points!

My wife took a peek to make sure it wasn't a game she had already purchased. Otherwise it went under the tree and will stay there until Christmas. I'm a stickler that way. She cannot stand to do that.

I will update this at that time. Thanks again BGG SS!

UPDATE:

Awesome! The absolute best game I could have wanted was sitting under my tree when I got to open presents on Christmas morning - Caylus! Very cool and very generous so I thank you very much BGG SS! I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday.
