Only use placeholders to let your Santa know you received your package but are waiting to open it. When you actually open the package, please update the entry with the game(s) you received and express your reaction for your Santa. Since we just got our Secret Santa Targets assigned --

Last year's episode of "Look what my Secret Santa sent me..." was well received, so I am creating the same list again for 2007.

I originally posted this as a way to let my Santa know when I receive my gift without him/her worrying about letting me know who (s)he is. Use this as a central area to record what our Secret Santas sent us. If you plan on using this list, you may want to make a note on your profile so your Secret Santa knows to look on the list for your receipt and reaction.

That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be divulged!

If your Santa sends you more than one item, just list them all in one listing unless you think it makes more sense to list them separately. Remember to include any comments you want your Secret Santa to know!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

(I am just using a generic Christmas first item as a placeholder for mine until my gift arrives, at which time I will update it with the real gift). In case you were wondering - yes, I do have a probably unfounded fondness for this holiday.

Now for the big question - do you open the gift or allow it to taunt you from under the tree until your local Christmas/Holiday gift opening?

Today, the package delivery man arrived with a gigantic package (well, really really big at least). As Christmas is over, I just tore in to it together with my youngest son. It was a delight unpacking it.

First of all, it contained a very nice hand(?) written card and a typed letter with some hints in as to my Santa's identity.

Then, I found a Navia Dratp starter set in Red. This is one game I have been looking at a lot;

I havent found it in Denmark (or Europe for that matter), but I have always stopped just short of the ordering button (in US-stores). Thanks Santa.

Under the red set, was a blue starter set. Very, very nice.


And on the side, a whole box of extra figures. Apparantly, my Santa just had some of these lying around - nice Santa. The Navia set was even more cool that I had imagined, and we really look forward to playing it. The son was really taken with the figures, especially the Turtle.

And that wasn't all, I also received (totally uncalled for, and a very nice addition) Antike. This also one of those I really have wanted to try out. The theme attracts me a lot.

So all in all, I am more than happy about this very personal gift from the USA (Allen Park or Lincoln Park or somewhere else in Michigan?). Thanks Secret Santa. And thanks for the check-up letters through-out December...

My Santa package arrived today. It included a very nice and informative card letting me know that he and the elves had been so busy playing games that the package was late. At least they had a good reason! It also included some chocolate. Don't worry Santa, I will be sure to share those with the family...devil


First, he included this to add to my Heroscaping enjoyment.


Next, he included this so that my kiddies would have something to play. I had been meaning to pick up Stratego to teach them to play anyway, so this worked out great!


Finally, this was also included in the box. Everyone loves a gambling game!

Thanks Santa for all the gifts!

My Secret Santa got me two games. Cuba and Ticket To Ride: Switzerland

 


Ticket to Ride is one of my favorite games and most plays are with 2 or 3 players so this expansion is perfect for me.

Cuba I have yet to try, but I've read the rules and I think it will be a hit.

Santa was very very good to my family and I this year. He spent some time checking his list and he sent three brightly wrapped packages that sat nicely under our tree until Christmas morning...one for me, one for my wife, and one for my kids.

I'm listing my wife's present as the main one here because she was very skeptical about this "secret santa thing"...she saw it more as an excuse for me to get another game. But when she saw that there was a package for her and for the kids, she changed her tune.


So yeah, the wife received Mr. Jack as shown above which is now first on our post Christmas playlist.

I received a copy of Hoity Toity which we'll be playing tonight (after Mr. Jack, of course )

And my kids got a copy of Fish Eat Fish that they're dying to play.

Thanks so much Santa for a great Christmas.

Thank you, I love my present! I'm a political junkie, and grew up playing Mr. President and knowing the electoral college numbers for the 60's, so this game is perfect!

And I got Reiner Knizia's Kingdoms, my first Fantasy Flight game.

And a game called R-Eco which looks interesting.

And the Puerto Rico expansions which is all I wanted.

And a fun hand spinner for going first or playing with.

And a nice greeting card, and a really cool pack of Texas playing cards, which is what impressed my kids the most.

The package went to my son in New York, we opened the package together via webcam and he kept pulling out more things. When he flew here, his luggage was overweight so he had to hand carry the games, but he got a big bag from a store, and it was only one (long) flight.

Now all I have to do is study the rules and try the games . . .

My secret Santa made me promise to not open my gift until Christmas. It was tough but I stuck to it. It was Worth the wait! My secret Santa was awesome! Thanks Santa!

I arrived home at 16:45 on Christmas Eve to find a letter saying I could collect a parcel from the post office. I rushed down, not expecting them to still be open a this time on Christmas Eve, but Santa had included some Christmas magic and I got my box just in time!

My son came with me and when he saw the box his eyes went wide with excitement. It took some convincing to get him to wait till the next morning. And so the next morning arrived, by now I was also biting at the bit, but we had said we would wait till my parents arrived before opening any gifts. They were late!

Anyway, my son was thrilled with Hey That's my fish and even though he only grasps some of the rules, sometimes (he's only 3!) he asks to play it at least once a day. Hannibal also looks quite interesting and I just have to find the right opponent to try it out with - although Im sure my son would agree to a game

I promised my Secret Santa that I would wait until Christmas to open my package, and I mostly kept to that promise. Turns out I needed the box Santa sent my gift in to ship a game I had traded. So I had my wife open the box with plans on wraping up my game for me so I wouldn't know what it was. Turns out my Santa had already wrapped the TWO games in the box, so they were placed under the tree. One package was large, the other small (obviously a card game). Well, some relatives were visiting and they like simple card games. So I caved and opened the tiny card game early, BUT I waited until Christmas to open the big game. My Secret Santa was very generous considering these gifts were coming from outside the U.S. The big package was Bootleggers, which I'm looking forward to trying.

which the relatives did enjoy playing, so it was a good thing I opened that one early while they were still visiting. At least that reason sounded good at the time. laugh

Wow! My first German game from Germany. Unfortunately, the rules appear to be in German, too. But fortunately (1) I took German in college and (2) the BGG exists.

And a big thank you Santa in Texas!

We must have been one of the first to receive our Secret Santa parcel, but with the girl in charge of keeping it sealed to xmas, December has been one long wait to get this gem unwrapped. So much that halfway I even got a Santa-mail who couldn't stand it any longer either, and declared it was "enough, open it already!"

One taunt too many, and we had pretty high hopes this was indeed the one hiding under the tree, and we have avoided playing it, wanting to keep "getting it" special, so it would be a game with its own nice story, the one we got from a generous Texan with taste.

And here was me thinking that the long wait until xmas would be the nightmare bit. Wrong. Having unpacked the game first thing in the morning, we have been trying to find the right gap to get it out, but have been swamped with family instead. And to make a bad thing worse, one of the kids brought her "Game of Life" out, wanting to play it with her auntie and uncle who had come down at last, and who love to play games with her.

So, instead of a couple of hours making American Political history for two, it was me cruising down with my empty plastic car with the token blue pin, hoping to fill it with a good crop of kids and a bonus salary bonanza degree, spinning the wheel to see what unavoidable space I would land on, and that evergreen of meaningful decision making, shall I land on the space in the left lane, or the one on the right?

We're home! It will be the first thing on the table tomorrow. I might skip breakfast.

My Secret Santa sent me this recent SDJ winner! I'm looking forward to playing it with my family.

There were several other goodies in the box as well.

1) A really cool meeple x-mas card

2) A box of peppermint bark (from which I managed to salvage about half from from the clutches of my teenage daughters)

3) Some really yummy hot cinnimon jelly candies that my daughters didn't like, lol

4) A jar of apple butter that I can't wait to try.

5) A lottery ticket which I'm still fantasizing about

Dear Santa,

This year having a Secret Santa was a special blessing. Since both my grandparents died this past spring/summer my mother and I didn’t have the energy or funds to do anymore cross country traveling. So we spent this Christmas 2000 miles away from our remaining family. Our tiny tree only had a few presents under it and my mother had wrapped the ones you sent beautifully. I was brimming with anticipation for many days. Having them under the tree added beauty and fun for both of us this year.

You did a wonderful job choosing a present for me this year. Not only do I live in a Desert, this game was one of the early Eurogames I played that helped really plunge me into this hobby many years ago, and yet somehow I had never acquired my own copy. Plus it is one of my mother’s favorite games as well. It will be played and loved for many years.



Plus what a wonderful unexpected surprise the Power Grid Italy/France expansion was. Power Grid is one of my all time favorite games. I even run it at conventions. So this was a perfect and totally unexpected addition to my collection!!

The package arrived on the very last day mail was delivered before the Christmas break... but I waited until Christmas to actually open the box. And there they were! Dozens of amoebas just waiting to divide and conquer!

Holy Hot Christmas Batman! Due to a travelling Christmas I was not able to get to my SS box until now...but what an awesome surprise it was! I use PeaceBowl as the main line as it was the coolest/most unexpected gift of all time! Thank YOU Secret Santa!!!

But, as they say, "That's not all..."

This curious card game was the first to be opened...I love what it looks like...and the fact I will HAVE to use BGG to figure it out is thematically perfect!



Then another curious card game I have never heard of. But SS was very aware of not only me...but my kids as well...as a perfect SS would be of course




And the final Huzzah! A beautiful game that perfectly suits the family gamer!



Then the "must haves" come out! Have had a blast with the base set and now it is time to up the stakes.



More Silver Line goodness from FFG in the form of a nasty chariot race!



Next we have an excellent looking Wizard fest! I love all things fantasy...and this will slot right in!



Next is another Knizia...this time back to his beloved Egypt. Very cute board will see this out asap!



Add to all of this Christmas Pez for the kids and a box of Jelly Bellies for Mamma and this was quite truely the most amazing Secret Santa experience of my time. I and my family are stunned by your genourous spirit and very much thank you for the surprise.

Happy New Year Santa...and here is to all the fun you have aided in this coming year.
