Competition Details - what do you need to do

You will need to send a Geekmail to me with the following items for nomination.

Person Historical: You must nominate a "person" by name; animal, human, computer chess program - almost everything that has actually existed in history is permissible here. Having a proper name is really all you need, and maybe the ability to communicate somehow.

Person Fictional: You must nominate a being by name; animal, alien, cyborg, comic strip character - any characters, or sentient things from fiction are fine. Pretty much anything that was disqualified for 'Person Historical' is what you want here.

Person Evil: You must nominate a being by name; see above for details, but practically anyone past present or not real qualifies. However, this is your Evil Villain: The salt to your first two hero's coffee, the scum between their toes, the reason they joined forces to begin with.

Once you've submitted your Triumvirate, please subscribe to this GeekList so you get notified of updates.

If any nominated triumvirate is a perfect overlap with one already in the mix, I will contact the player who nominated second and ask them to make a change or two or three.[/floatleft]

Goal and prizes - why you need to do it

The aim of the triumvirate is to be voted as the best suited for a series of tasks which will be revealed as the game progresses through August.

After the first task has been voted on, the best groups will be ranked and paired for the next rounds to compete for the winner's prize.

The lowest scoring groups will be ranked and paired the next rounds to compete for the wooden spoon.

I will award 200GG to the eventual winner of the Good Citizen Triumvirate.
I will award 100GG to the eventual wooden spoon winner of the bottom bracket.

Timeline - when you need to be ready

Nominations by Geekmail should be sent in now.
The cutoff for nominating groups is August 16th at my discretion. Once the list is closed the first task will appear in item #1 on this Geeklist. The entered triumvirate nominations will be shown on item #2 to begin with.

Voting will be via a poll, each round will last 3-5 days (pending me getting busy). This is loose as I don't know how many entries will come in and how big the brackets need to be. Everything will wrap up, and the winning triumvirate will be announced in the first few days of September probably.

Items #1 and #2 will always be the latest bracket polls. Previous rounds will be pushed lower in the Geeklist but always visible, and the last item will always be a description of the teams and will be updated to show who's still competing.

Bracket Rounds - Information

This explanation will stay on top so you are always reminded of where the competition is up to, and how the scoring work for each round.

Current State of Play

Nominations are closed.
We have 46 entries.

Round 1 is about to start. Please vote for any of the triumvirates that you think would do well in the given task.
And ask any of your BGG buddies to come vote aswell. Absolutely the more the merrier.

Also, please subscribe to this list, if you haven't already, so you get notifications of new rounds and such.

Scoring
thumbsup Winner's Bracket

Following the initial round bracket we will have a confirmed list of 32 entries in the "Winner's bracket"
These triumvirate teams will be pitted against each other in a series of tasks - think The Labours of Hercules or The Twleve tasks of Asterix

You must vote for whoever would perform these tasks the BEST.

This will decide who is truly the triumvirate maxime potens

thumbsdown Wooden Spoon Bracket

The remaining entries will feature in the "Wooden Spoon bracket"
These triumvirate teams will be pitted against each other in a separate but related series of tasks

You must vote for whoever would perform these tasks the WORST.

This will decide who is truly the triumvirate minus potentes

Summary
E Initial round - Vote for who would perform the task best.
E Vote for who would do best in the winner's brackets.
E and vote for who would do worst in wooden spoon bracket.

(We decided not to call it the loser's bracket for obvious reasons - but for fun we wanted the Wooden Spoon to be decided by who would create such havoc, such disarray, that they would be asked to leave for everyone's safety )

Round 1 .. fight!

The tasks will begin to unfold.. but.. before we begin, when appraising a triumvirate, remember that the Evil Villain is always seeking to hamper the Good Citizens in any way.

Temporary geeklist item.

I just created this to ask all your opinion on something slightly trivial to the game, but has the potential to impact the formatting of the head to head brackets.

All of the combinations I'm getting are hilarious. There's stories just in that bit, but some of you are adding clarifying information. For example,

PE: Han Solo (from Episode 4 to 6, not the Solo movie)*

things like that.

But do you think it's vital that I include the subtext? I'm already wondering about some really REALLY long answers, but if I can trim this clarifying info, it should help.

And the second part of the question *is* about the REALLY long answers. Some of them are 4-6 lines of wrapped text in my spreadsheet. (no, I'm not using cells 3 characters wide!)
As a whole, what should be done? No big deal perhaps?

I'll be making an executive decision when I'm setting up the polls but I thought I'd see what you all thought first.

Comment below please. Mmay aswell keep the discussion public, and it's all in fun anyway.

Matt

*I made that up, no spoilers here.
