Terms of participation
Please all be aware of the full terms before taking part in the trade.
Good will and understanding are required for a succesfull trade.
This math trade is a process fueled by sincerity, common sense and politeness. Rules come second.
You may offer board/card games, accessories, RPG, and money items.
Wear & tear on the box or the components, missing components or boxes, older editions, any modifications, non-English editions of language dependent games, should be mentioned explicitly and in BOLD. This applies also for any sweeteners.
When offering an expansion as sweetener, a missing box should be mentioned.
For GMT games, please state if your edition includes a mounted map.
For sleeved games, sleeves should be in the correct and uniform size per card type, otherwise please do not mention that the game is sleeved.
Ensure that your shipping terms are clear and the recipient has an exact idea of his obligations. In this scope:
I encourage everyone to offer free shipping within Europe wherever possible.
Please refrain from mirror shipping.
When sharing shipping costs with the recipient, please state the exact amount of money that the recipient will have to pay. If you are unsure of the costs, use Enoon's geeklist which displays rates from various european countries, check with your post office and when in doubt state the maximum amount that the recipient would have to cover.
All shipping terms apply inside Europe only. Traders from outside Europe must be prepared to pay the full cost of shipping games to them and state in their listing that they are happy to comply with this.
Games should be sufficiently well packaged to arrive in the condition in which they were offered.
Do not enter rare, out of print items for which potential missing component replacements or financial reimbursement would be difficult, unless you have inspected them thoroughly and are 100% certain for the accuracy of your description.
Avoid making dramatic changes to your descriptions (e.g. changing a condition from "new" to "acceptable", or changing the title of an item). Instead, make a new entry and delete the old one.
Do not rely on geeklist numbers for any purpose - they may change at any moment.
Do not use comments to describe your items. For clarifications, edit your original description. Descriptions in comments, and especially any descriptions made after the offers' deadline, would not show up in olwlg and will be disregarded!
If you feel you have to make an important clarification after the offers deadline, please declare an empty wantlist for your item, thus effectively removing it from the trade.
After strict moderation from BGG admins, I remind you that BGG does not allow the use of math trade geeklists to sell games. Please avoid mentioning "buy now" prices for your items.
Any Math Trader who accepts a cash value trade (either in the form of gift card, gift certificate, or actual cash) is conducting a direct sale through the site and is subject to the associated commission fee required by the Terms of Service just as with any other sale. For information on how to do this, please see
Cash Value Trades in Math Trades (and how to make a geek market listing for them)
Sweeteners are required to be listed not as plain text but by using the following method: Insert Geek Link - Board Game - (type the title and press go).
Do not use the method above unless you intend to offer a game as a sweetener. If you include such a link to a game you may be required to ship that game as a sweetener.
If any of your items involve money changing hands please state who is responsible for covering the transaction costs.
If you are offering a Pick X number of games from a list you are required to listed it as "Outside the Scope of BGG" and must include the following line in your description:
+altname+ Pick X -altname-
DO NOT make entries that don't refer to the exact game they represent. If you want to offer anything other than the game itself, make an "Outside the Scope of BGG" entry and use the following line in your description:
+altname+ Appropriate Title -altname-
e.g. do not make an entry titled "Runewars" and say in your description that you are just offering parts of the game. Instead make an "Outside the Scope of BGG" entry with this line:
+altname+ Runewars parts -altname-
Use the above method also if you want to offer a print'n'play version of a game, or any somehow altered version that is degraded in value in comparison to the official game bought in a store.
Everyone is encouraged to notify a user who has made an inaccurate or erroneous description. E.g. if someone enters a sweetener not using the proper method (insert geek link-boardgame etc) please send him/her a geekmail, providing a link to his/her post.
Any information you fail to clarify, burdens you. For instance, if you are offering money without stating who will cover the transaction costs, you are burdened with those costs.
Regarding shrinkwrapped games without box damage, the sender is not responsible for any damaged/missing components. Contact the game publisher instead.
If you are new to math trades, be advised: this is a counter-intuitive process which could harbour misunderstandings. Seek advice from experienced math traders in the discussion thread.
Math trades work by forming trade cycles: you will receive the item you asked from a certain person and you will ship the item you offered to another person, who will in turn ship his offered item to the next person in the cycle etc.
Due to this:
a)After results are posted you will no longer be able to cancel the trades you are involved in. If you made a mistake in your wants, you are unfortunately burdened by it. Doublecheck your wantlists before submitting!
b)Every participant is obligated to ship his/her offered items, despite the behaviour of other users shipping to him/her.
If you are not ok with a and b, please refrain from participating in the trade.
You are required to ship the games within 3 weeks after the final confirmation of the results. You are not responsible for postal delays.
Money and geekgold arbitrage is prohibited. (please do not try to trade your €20 for someone else's €30)
Also, please avoid offering an exact subset of the item you are asking (do not try to trade your agricola for agricola + sweetener).
The above rule has nothing to do with the values of the items - you may trade a low value for a high value item, as long as it is not exactly contained in the bundle you are asking.
If such a trade shows up in the trade loops, it will be effectively disregarded and the user responsible will receive a warning.
For a serious reason, you may deviate from these rules by stating in BOLD letters your own exceptional terms.
