Buffalo, NY Summer 2020 Socially Distant, Handwashing, Mask-Wearing No-Ship Math Trade
This is a non-shipping Math Trade for the area in and around Buffalo, NY. To participate you must be able to meet up with other traders in this area.Recommend
ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO READ ALL INFORMATION IN THIS HEADER. PARTICIPATION IN THIS MATH TRADE ASSUMES IMPLICIT AGREEMENT WITH THE RULES BELOW.
Deadline to submit offers: Sunday, June 28th, 10:00 PM EDT
Deadline to submit wants: Sunday, July 5th, 10:00 PM EDT
Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/buffalomathtrade/
Rules and Guidelines:
1 This trade will utilize the OLWLG (http://bgg.activityclub.org/olwlg/) please get comfortable with it before the end of the trade. There are a number of great videos that exist to teach you this, so please watch one of these. If you have any questions afterwards please feel free to ask me.
2 You are required to accurately describe the condition of your game. This entails inventorying all parts including inserts, and describing all cosmetic bumps, scrapes, rips, stains, etc. Should you find your game is in lesser condition than you originally listed it, do not edit the listing. Delete it and relist.
2A If your game is not in English, be VERY CLEAR that your game is not in English.
3 Please state which printing, or at least the year in which your copy was printed. If the primary language is something other than English, this needs to be clearly stated, even if the game is language independent. Please subscribe to all of your listings and publicly acknowledge all questions.
4 Add sweeteners by typing the name of the game into the "board game" box of the drop down menu so they properly display in the OLWLG.
5 If you have reason to remove an item, please DELETE it.
6 Subscribe to any and all items you are interested in, rather than writing down the number. If you write down the number and an item gets removed, the number will change. This also allows you to keep track of possible changes and questions on that item.
7 Items that are not in the database but related to gaming are allowed within reason. You will need to use outside the scope of BGG and altname tags.
8 I will allow giftcards and cash, with the understanding that arbitage (attempting to trade money for more money) is NOT allowed, will invalidate math trade results, and will result in your item or items being removed from the math trade. ALSO, the policy on BGG now is that cash or gift cards traded in math trades must pay a 3% fee to BGG. This is the responsibility of the trader, and is to be completed through the marketplace.
9 If you submit items for trade you are expected to also submit a want list. If you decide that you do not want to trade any of your items, please submit a blank want list. IT IS PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE to decide you do not want to trade anything. However, if you do not submit a want list then I'm left wondering if you forgot, or if I mentioned the due date incorrectly somewhere, and I get stressed out about it.
10 It is expected that you will be able to deliver the games you are giving to the recipient. Because of this the trade is intended for people who live in the city of Buffalo and surrounding suburbs. If you live a more significant distance away (Batavia, Niagara Falls, Boston, Holland, etc), you will be expected to head to a more central location for the hand-off. I have no problem allowing out-of-towners to participate, but I would like to know who they are.
10A Please expect to be able to complete trades within a week of the trade's conclusion. That said, we're all people living in a world filled with work and family and events beyond our control, so please be patient and communicate, communicate, communicate.
10B It's reasonable to help pass along games to third parties if the meet-ups align that way. Just please make sure all parties are aware of who will have their game and when.
11 There is technically a catchall discussion forum on BGG for these Buffalo Math trades, however it's rarely used. Since there are relatively few of us that participate the Facebook Page and Geeklist comments section seem to work just fine in my opinion.
12 Any disputes will be mediated by the moderator. Results not final until posted by the moderator. Please do not begin side trading until the results are posted and finalized.
SPECIAL COVID-19 RULES:
So we have this new weird hurdle to deal with, and people are all over the map with how worried they are and how they much or little contact with people they are willing to make. Please be courteous to eachother and take appropriate precautions when trading games. My suggestions:
1) When trading games at a central meeting place, open your car trunk, allow the other party to place your new games in your trunk for you, remain 6 feet apart.
2) When someone is bringing a game to your house, leave a small table or other clean sturdy platform near your door, allow the person to deliver your game to this platform, thereby avoiding unnecessary contact.
3) Wash your hands.
ALSO, because of the current border closure and uncertain timetable for reopening this particular trade is not open to our Canadian neighbors. We have only had Canadian participants twice, and while I do generally welcome them to participate, it's just not in the cards this time.
General Notes About This Trade:
Be polite. If you have a question, ask politely. If answering a question, answer politely. The internet is filled with animosity and this math trade, as an extension of my enjoyable hobby, is not. Please keep it civil and welcoming.
As this geeklist is for an active math trade, please do not use any part of this geeklist to attempt a trade or sale outside of the math trade structure for anything that has been listed until AFTER the math trade is COMPLETELY finished. Then, of course, I have no problem with side deals and offers as they will no longer effect the trade's outcome. This includes "If this ends up not trading" comments.
Every trade, the thing I get the most complaints about is people not being available when other people expect them to be available. Please keep in mind that not everyone is super flexible with their time, and it may take an extra day or two for someone to meet with you. Please just generally be patient with each other.
Thank you all, and as always feel free to contact me here or on the Facebook page with any questions or concerns you may have.
