Hail and Farewell: Remembering Jim McMahon
- Hahn AramaUnited StatesI had a guide, a Bedouin man, who called me 'Abu el Banat'. And whenever we'd meet another Bedouin, he'd introduce me as Abu el Banat. And the Bedouin would laugh and laugh and offer me a pint of beer. (cont below)And I'd go to pay them for the beer and they wouldn't let me. "Abu el Banat" means "Father of daughters." They thought the beer was the least they could do.
So it saddens me to tell you that last Thursday November 12, 2020 that Jim died after a short illness. He was only 53 yeas young.Jim McMahonUnited States
MassachusettsLookee what he can do! He wants a job!
Jimbo was the most giving and caring guy that I, or those who loved him, have ever know. He would literally give you the collectible promo shirt off his back. I am sure there are more than a few of you out there who have been surprised by a package showing up at your door that you did not order. You opened it up and found Jim had sent you something that you might have mentioned in passing as wanted. That was him to his care. He care about everyone that he tried to make ever a stranger he just met happy.
I'm devastated by his loss and future absence in my life but as one of his best friends said, "Be happy that we had him for the time that we did"
The World was a much better place by his presence and worse off for his absence.(I know it's rather cliché but when it applies to Jim it's the truth)
In closing I want to share something that Jim shared with us over a decade ago
"Have fun. Every moment you have is a choice. Be sure to choose well. You can choose to be miserable, or you can choose not to. Suffering is optional."
In 2020 wiser words have not been said.
Hail and Farewell buddy.
If I did this right I have allowed others to post to this geeklist. If you knew Jim please feel free to ad. And away we go!
