The Hundred Years' War (French: Guerre de Cent Ans) was a prolonged conflict lasting from 1337 to 1453 between two royal houses for the French throne, which was vacant with the extinction of the senior Capetian line of French kings. The two primary contenders were the House of Valois and the House of Plantagenet, also known as the House of Anjou. The House of Valois claimed the title of King of France, while the Plantagenets from England claimed to be Kings of France and England. The Plantagenet Kings in England had their roots in the French regions of Anjou and Normandy. French soldiers fought on both sides, with Burgundy and Aquitaine providing notable support for the Plantagenet side.

In Warriors of God, Multi-Man Publishing (MMP) and Game Journal Magazine have joined hands to bring a unique perspective to this conflict.
As always, playability matched with historical accuracy has been achieved to a remarkable degree. Players move their leaders and units using a unique impulse game system that shows both the strategy and tactics of the period. The game also recreates the massive swings of fortune which were so much a part of the Hundred Years War.
Even with such a simple and easily learned system, all the special rules necessary to give players a full feel for the period are here: archers, Joan of Arc, and much, much more.

Flower of Chivalry is an excellent source book for the miniatures gamer interested in English medieval warfare. The book begins with 14 pages devoted to medieval weapons and armor, battle and siege tactics and heraldry. Next the author provides a simple set of miniatures rules and army lists for gaming battles of the period. The majority of the book is a set of battle scenarios from the Scottish Wars (late 1200's - 1350), the Hundred Years War (1350 - 1450) and the Wars of the Roses (1450 - 1500). Each scenario has a map of the battlefield, lists of units, and special scenario rules. (A solo scenario of the battle of Castillon is included.)

Issue No. 34 from Against the Odds magazine.

Tactical game on the 1340 battle in 1340 between English King Edward III and a French fleet assembled to carry King Philip VI’s invasion across the English Channel.

Players build the battlefield as they go. By navigating their squadrons of galleys, nefs, and cogs through the estuary they create the terrain upon which the knights and men-at-arms will vie for supremacy. The English will have the longbow and a high freeboard, as well as the benefit of the wind gauge in many scenarios, but if played smartly the French will manage to offset those advantages, applying his weight of numbers irresistibly against the English king’s bid to rule France.

The Battle of Crécy is a game for two to five players in which you and your opponents play French
knights trying to defeat the Englishmen and to get as much fame and honour as possible while doing so.
Honour is gained by showing off and dispatching English footmen.
The game is played in two separate parts: the night before the battle and the battle itself.
When the battle is done all the player’s fame is counted and the knight whom has gained the most
honour is the winner - even though he might be dead.

This FREE battle for Men of Iron - Volume I : The Rebirth of Infantry is probably history’s prime candidate for solitaire play. However, by ignoring the historically-oriented special rules you might just be able to make a “game” of it.

Agincourt recreates the well known battle in 1415 of the same name. Each hex is 34 yards, counters from 250-500 men (1000 if double sized) or 1-2 artillery pieces. Each turn is 3 minutes. Each player alternates as the "phasing" player and moves in impulses, after each of which the opposing player can engage in archery fire. After movement morale is checked and then melee combat may occur.

This is a mini-game included in Vae Victis issue 30, released in honor of the film by Luc Bresson. This game covers a year of campaigning--from September 1428 to September 1429--at one week per turn. The English are on the offensive, trying to take the fortified castles of the Loire valley, as the French (under Joan of Arc et al) try to hold on and retake what they lose. A number of special events add color to the game.
