I'm still playtesting this, but it might work with the portable format, as long as you can include small square cardboard counters for the fleets.

I rounded off my tuit and got this game added to BGG, so now this entry points at the right game.

In Cameron Browne's book Connection Games, on page 134, you will find a game called Stymie. The game is also available online at http://www.gamerz.net/pbmserv/stymie.html. It is the greatest of all connection games, and I can be sure of that because I designed it myself.

I believe it was Nov 30, 2003 when I found out Cameron was writing a book on connection games. I asked if I designed a game could I get in his book. He responded "If it's good enough". So I spent a couple days cogitating, I exchanged a few emails with Cameron, and within a week we had a game which met all of its design objectives: It got my name in Cameron's book. It also turned out to be a pretty good game. Ask Cameron his side of this story.

I have two other games which are ready to publish. One is called TLRising. The way that the board is built, it's most recent presentation has magnetic pieces in a steel box. It could be easily adapted to using vinyl tiles in a cloth bag. (We'll leave out the optional rule where you make a challenge for a huge number of points and you leave the same board on the inside of the metal box lid and play round after round on that same board for months until you're sick of it. I was thinking of cutting that rule anyway.)

The third game is called Make One. I got some funny fraction dice and made a game with them. This game requires a set of 9 special dice in three different kinds. Can you print dice? Certainly a bag with 9 dice and a dozen scoring chips would fit your compact game line. It could also be made into a second version called Make 24. You get rid of the fractions on the dice, by multiplying all the numbers by 24. They still need to be funny dice. Some of the dice would have 12s on them. It's just like printing these:

Murus Gallicus is an abstract boardgame loosely based on Julius Caesar's greatest battle, the Battle of Alesia. The game features Mancala-like moves with sacrifices rather than captures. The material is always balanced, making the game tight and tense until the endgame. The object of the game is to reach your opponent's home row with one of your tokens or to stalemate your opponent.

I believe my game would fit well in nestorgames' line-up of games. You can find the detailed rules and a playable shockwave game in the file section of Murus Gallicus. The game file links to the pdf file which should be in the same folder if the link is to work. Otherwise, ignore the Rules button in the game and read the rules before playing the game.

I hope that you will consider adding Murus Gallicus to your line-up of portable games.

(I'm afraid there is a little mistake in the english translation: points are awarded according to the number of the TILES which form the closed area)

36 tiles and a sheet of rules.

Perhaps it could be possible to print Brazil's tiles on the back of Zeon's tiles...

The base in Gord's version was built out of blocks but it could actually be done as a simple gameboard instead.

The domes would be a bit of a problem (you could do laser cut circles but domes definitely feel better and make it abundantly clear that you can't move into those spaces).

The player pieces are currently geometric shapes but could really be anything (and could be differentiated by color instead of shape if required).

Also check out the Santorini Godly Expansions #1 #2 #3. Although currently card-based, they could be handled via printed tiles (with or without a set of accompanying cheat sheets).

If you're unable to get in touch with the designer, drop me a line and I can track him down in person for you.

Vesuvius is by the same designer as Santorini above. The gameplay probably requires some reworking before you'd be interested but the boardless format would fit your needs very well. It might be hard to do the volcano but perhaps you could build it out of interlocking layers.

And a third abstract from Gord!, the designer of Santorini and Vesuvius. This one can accommodate lots of weird and irregular shapes that would be well-handled via the laser-cutting. Read buzzy colbert's comments for a helpful suggestion about additional "matchstick pieces" to clarify what is and isn't touching.

I think that will fit into your normal format of games.

Obviously you would have to talk to the designer but I would buy a copy of this if you republished it.

A mini-Lectio? If this statement (from a Korean, I might add) is true, then this esteemed game is unavailable to consumers. I don't know whom you'd contact for rights, though. I have a copy, and am happier than ever that I do!

I could easily see a nestorgames version with tiles the size of mini-Heckmeck, but opaque:

Here's a link to two of my better games, out of ~300 that I've designed over the course of the last decade. They're better than my other games in the sense that they've gotten higher marks from playtesters.

They fit well with the other abstracts you've published.
