for running this year's Print and Play Secret Santa!

Even though I'd only created one or two PnP games, I wanted to join. We had 44 participants this year, and I believe this SS is in its second year.

Please add your game once you receive it!

Here's a link to the discussion thread if you'd like to contribute anything there...:

For those of you who might not be familiar with PnP, here's what Andrew's introduction said:

"Welcome to the Second Board Game Geek Secret Santa: Print & Play Edition!

An introduction to Print & Play: On the geek, there are a plethora of FREE games, there for the taking! The catch? YOU have to make them! Some simply require you to print and cut out, while others are much more complicated. In addition, you can make a quick player's copy, or take your time and make a masterpiece.

This Secret Santa event does two things: it lets us experience the wonderful feeling of giving someone a gift that you made yourself, and also lets us find and promote games that otherwise go overlooked."

Wow! I got my Secret Santa package today and was really excited (more excited, I admit, than I was to get my standard Secret Santa box, and that was pretty darn excited). The three little packages were each gift wrapped (thanks for the reminder to do the same for my SS!), and I loved the feeling of mystery I had when I held them.

I got 3 games: Island Trader, Micropul, and Cheese Chasers. They look so professional and amazing! (the Island Trader box looks way nicer than the one pictured here!) I'll submit some pictures later when I have more time, but I wanted to thank my Secret Santa very much!

He also included a nice little note... thanks Nick!

Okay, the pics! But take heart everyone-- the game I'm making doesn't looks as nice as this! I wouldn't be surprised if this will end up being one of the most professional-looking games in the entire SS.

First, a booklet with the rules-- and nicely banded by a strip of the wrapping paper (I wish I had thought to take a picture of the wrapped items!)

Cheese Chasers, professionally packaged... it looks so nice that I can't bear to open it... so I haven't (yet).

Micropul! A pretty little version! My photography skills (or, rather, lack thereof) don't do these justice!

And last, Island Traders! Overall, I'm excited about the games Nick chose and looking forward to playing them. Cheese Chasers will probably be first (when I can stand to unwrap it) because I watched a video on it the other day.

Allow me if you will a moment to take you on a brief journey. I'd like to share with you the experiences I had today opening a certain Priority Mail package that landed on my door step. It is my sincerest hope that I am able to convey to you joy, excitement and admiration I felt as I was going through this incredible holiday gift/surprise. It really brightened my day and kicked the week of to a great start. That being said this will be a bit of a longer post for than you typical geeklist is use to getting but I feel out little Print 'n Play Secret Santa group is different than the rest. It's got personality and sense of real gift giving that I've not felt about any of the other SS's here on BGG. Here let me show you what I mean.

I work overnights right now. So my shifts are either 10pm-7am or 9pm-7am. I work 4 shifts so I get 38+ hours a week over the course of 4 days and have 3 days off. A schedule I can only sort of complain about. I woke today after having gone to bed about 8am at 1pm. Tanya my girlfriend tells me there's a package waiting for me. "It's really heavy so I don't think it's your Secret Santa box." I grab the box and sure enough it's really heavy...what could it be? I wasn't expecting anything but my SS box so I look at the return mailing label:

WOW! It says Orlando Ramirez...this is my Print 'n Play Secret Santa box! I'm getting pretty excited now, I can only imagine what's in it and why it's so freaking heavy! Unfortunately I have an appointment to be at by 1:45 so I have to go get shaved and dressed. I do so with great haste and manage to find enough time to rip into it before leaving!

This is the box I pull out from the USPS box. Well I realize that this is NOT the game I'm getting but rather what he had on hand to pack everything in. Outside the box I saw this:

A plain white piece of card stock folded in half. Well I'm always one to read the card before diving into the package so I open the card and am greeted with the one part of this whole that warmed my heart more any other...and even though I got to look at it right at this point...I'm going to make you wait until the end of my post. It's that special.

Opening the Rebel Sabers box I see this:

None of the games were wrapped, I had already made up my mind that IF they were wrapped I would wait until Christmas and if they were unwrapped I would consider myself lucky and jump into my games straight away! So here I go! Rule books galore and stuff everywhere. Oh man where to begin? I grab the small white box in the center there and open it quickly. Here I find a handmade box with insert that holds all the game bits for all the games included in my gift! It looked like this:

Goodies and more goodies in there. OK so now let's figure out what's what! First I see that I have a beautiful copy of Brewhouse Bash.

Given the recent Gamesworkshop brouhaha I certainly see the irony in this game appearing in my box of delectables. I will add it's one I've wanted and am stoked to have a copy. The board is printed out beautifully and mounted to what appears to be black foamcore...but it's VERY think foamcore like about 1/16" thick. I've never seen foamcore this thin but it's PERFECT for a board. The bits are mounted to cereal box cardboard and then it appears he used self-adhesive laminating sheets to laminate one side. This allows it the rich glossy feel, thick chunky construction and still feel sturdy and durable. WOW I'm really excited so far, let's see what's next!

While we are talking about Games Workshop I also got an incredible eiditon of Lost Patrol! The tiles are mounted as the board in Brewhouse is on that black foamcore stuff SUPER nice. The monsters are mounted onto small round wooden discs which have been sharpied black to make 'em look great and the figs...man look at those figs! They are painted so nicely. Certainly they don't look like the space marines from the Space Hulk world but they do give that Predator feel no doubt! WOW this is really a very cool copy of this game. Can it get better?

Well this game alone shows that Orlando put some real thought into his target (me) and I couldn't be happier. A real copy of Pond Hockey! I've looked at this one many times. Just never 'got around to it' is all. As soon as I see the board I think to myself "I've gotta check the geek when I get back from my appointment!" as I notice something not quite clicking. Now the board for this one is mounted on some thin brown cardboard and again self-adhesive laminating sheet used to cover it for durability but that's not the thing that sticking out in my head. I don't recognize these graphics. I remember looking at this game but it just looks different. So I jump on to the game entry wehn I can and sure enough...this is NOT the images as are currently posted to the game entry! Curious. Did Orlando design a new pond hockey board for my Secret Santa box? DAMN that's cool! I hope he uploads these images to the game page as I really like this. It's a wonder fun and a bit campy feeling. I love it! I got nice wooden pieces for the player and the chits were also of top notch quality, printed, mounted and laminated.

Now comes the weight of the box and truly the single print 'n play game that was highest on my want list. I can not even begin to express how impressed I am with this rendition of the game either. Without further ado here's what my copy of Space Junkyard looks like.

WOW! Those tiles are the ones he was talking about that he printed then mounted onto floor tiles. Each tile cut out must have been murder on his wrist. The end product however is super top notch quality of a tile game. They are thick and obviously heavy. If you check the mailing label you can see what it cost him to ship this to me. The ships are fantastic and the resources are beautiful little cubes that will actually fit on the tiles better than the printed chits I suspect.

The final result is 4 incredible games that I am immensely proud of. However as I mentioned above the best is yet to come. Remember that piece of white card stock? Well that is the one thing I've picked up and looked at over and over again more than anything else that was in the box. When I shipped off my PnP SS box I thought I was being cool by throwing in a Christmas card. I filled the entire blank space with text about what my target would find in the box. I used stamp sets to stamp out his name on the return label and even stamped "Spoiler Alert" on the envelope of the card in case he wants to wait until Christmas to open his packages (which all were wrapped separately). This however pales in comparison to what greets me when I open that piece of white cardstock...what I see is this (and I encourage you to click it and view the full size):

A hand painted watercolor Christmas card. It's just beautiful.

I could go into detail about the stresses I've been under this past year and in particular how things have intensified as late as last week. How things have been piling up on Tanya and I to make us just feel so completely overwhelmed but those things wouldn't interest you. Last Friday was really a rough day for us. Made the weekend pretty stressful. Then you get a package like this with such care and thought put into it and it just started the day off right. Turns out today has been a pretty incredible day. Several rays of sunshine broke through our clouds and it all started off with opening this package. There just times like this that you see that spark that reignites your faith in humanity.

So at the risk of extending an already overly verbose entry I just want to say Thank You to Orlando. To all here on the Geek I hope you have a great holiday season.

MERRY
CHRISTMAS

I got my package today and couldn't resist opening it right away Inside I found a copy of this game in a sturdy cardboard box with a nice laminated label.

The components were well made, with well cut cards and chits and a thick mounted board.

Then I saw there was something else inside the box... I found a copy of Space Hulk in my pocket with nice well printed and cut cards and tiles.

I really wanted to try both these games and have been considering printing them myself (in the case of Oh No, for years already) so I'm really glad I got them both

So, to my Pnp Secret Santa, Thanks a lot for making the effort and sending me a couple of games I really wanted to try and Merry Christmas! I hope you love the games you get too

And to Andrew, thanks a lot for organizing this. I'll sure be participating in the future.

I got my Secret Santa Package yesterday!
I knew that's what it was, as that's who the return address was to!

Anyway, on to what was inside.
After opening it up, and removing packing materials - there was a nice layer of packing on all sides of the box, I revealed this:

And then I unpacked the rest of the box, and out came all this PnP goodness:

For the pieces, I got a storage box, and all the units. Each unit appears to be a cutout sticker on a piece of wood, with a piece of white between. Very ingenious - The pieces are just marvelous!

And then the map. Full color, on some glossy paper, 2 sheets taped together.

The cards were super nice as well. Some excellent glossy thick paper, full color, with backs. And tuckboxes. And I got the expansion cards too.

Thanks to my Santa for such a wonderful build! I can't wait to play it. I love seeing how differently people make a game using the same files. Great job - I love it!

But that's not all. Right at the end, after I was finished examining all the cards and pieces and stuff, and found this other ziploc bag. And what was in it you ask?

Bee-Siege

Oh, in case you were wondering, it wasn't wrapped. So I felt at liberty to open the box up, and err, make sure nothing was damaged!

After seeing all of the ludicrously well made PnPs listed here so far, I was starting to get an inferiority complex about my own efforts. Apparently I was not alone, since the "taunts" from my PnP Secret Santa (Hi, Fanta!) started taking a distinctly apologetic tone . . .

But he (she?) should not have worried. As in all the BGG Secret Santa / Blatantly Obvious Bob affairs here at the wonderful BGG, it is always the thought that counts, and the thought behind this solo adventure game is more than apparent. Also, the amount of ink used to print these hundreds of pages was not insignificant!

Although a New Yorker by birth and by address, I grew up in England, and was a Doctor Who fan from early on. You never forget your first Doctor, and mine was Tom Baker, silly scarf and all. I'm looking forward to following in his footsteps in this well regarded game, which is clearly a labor of love by its creator, and which was chosen with care by my Santa.

Thanks, Santa, and here's to a great 2010!

Now where did you put my sonic screwdriver, K9?

Well, I received my package yesterday, but haven't opened yet. It's under the Christmas tree, next to my regular SS gift, ready for the ripping at 4 in the morning.

11/26
Well, Christmas came and passed. My wife woke me and the girls up at 6am because she is more excited than the girls, but it's all in good fun... let's rewind a bit though to share a bit of the story leading up to the finale.

I receive this geekmail from Santa on Dec 16th:
"Wow I am a horrible santa. I just got home for school and am now by a printer and craft store. I feel like crap about this and how down to the wire I am starting this. I am excited that the games you did put on your wishlist I was in the process of downloading files. Just to forewarn you I have only made a few games before so we will see how this goes."

Hm, okay, I'm not the only one waiting until the last minute to get on this... that's a good thing to know.

And the first was followed up almost immediately with this:
"I found another game that you did not specifically say but I am making it because I feel awful. "

Okay, that's cool. I love surprises!

Three days later (12/19 for those doing the math) I get this:
"I mailed your package this morning.
http://trkcnfrm1.smi.usps.com/PTSInternetWeb/InterLabelInqui...
the number is 0309 1140 0000 8030 4649
It's going to need a signature, I hope thats okay.
Merry Christmas "

Woo hoo! The package showed up in plenty of time and I placed it under the tree with my regular SS gift... and the day came.

Good thing I didn't open the mailing envelope as I had guessed nothing was wrapped inside... but too my surprise, I found a Scrabble box with a rubber band around it. That's curious, I don't remember liking Scrabble. Only, inside it was something amazing:

Valor and Victory!
and a SUPER nice printing at that! Now I understood the Scrabble box. I had wanted to do this game for a long time, but never got around to it, and I wanted to do it on Scrabble tiles as well. So awesome that Santa thinks like me!

As you can see, Santa also included printed label sheets of the Russians and Brits so I can label them myself... already on the hunt for some thrift store Scrabble!

Wonderfully constructed counters, all stuck to the letter side of the tiles.

I know the images are blurry, my camera needs batteries, so I tried to use the wife's new Cannon camera/video recorder to take the stills and it's just not suited for close ups. I'll try to update with better pictures when I get batteries.... so, my photography doesn't do these justice but the maps are FLAWLESS. Were they printed on a press? There's absolutely no streaks or patchiness I would expect to see on a standard inkjet or laserjet printer. They are perfect.

After I gawk at all this, I remember that he said he printed me something else and I looked inside the envelope to find this:

Coloretto - Das Extrakarten
Woo! I love Coloretto and I never even thought of trying this! Thanks Santa! Way to pick something out to surprise me!

I had an awesome time this year. Last year was fun, but this year made it for me... can't wait until next year!

I finally have been able to get my new computer up and running after transferring all the old data from the one that died.

I received my PnP Secret Santa gifts a couple of days ago and now have been able to upload the pictures.
My SS was very good to me and included one non PnP game that was on my Wish List. Thank you very much for the LotR expansion.

I have received in the above pictures.

Sword and Sail -

Sink the Bismark -

Uncut AGIOTARE PRETIUM

Imperium Galacticum

and 2 small quick-card games Wordfinger and Jungle

I really like to use of the small pizza boxes for game boxes. I had not thought of that use.

So this is what Santa made me this year: Battle Leader Tactics (BLT).
My mother didn't tell me when the package arrived and kept it hidden from me until Christmas Eve. So it was a total surprise. I had thought the package simply hadn't arrived in time

Now to the game: I must say I really like it. As I like card games better than board games, this was the perfect choice for me! Thank you so much Santa! The cards look awesome and are printed on very heavy cardstock. It looks as if Santa had bought it from a Print on Demand service, but I am not entirely sure about that. I hope I will find the time to play it soon!

Again, thank you so much Santa! You made the right choice!!

As I already mentioned on this geeklist, I received a parcel and an envelope just before Christmas. But I only opened it this morning (Christmas Day).

I picked the most generous Secret Santa fo all - but look by yourself:

1- Vampire's Dance
A high quality print (artscow like quality) of Vampire's Dance, presented in a nice and sturdy tuckbox, along with the pocketmod rules. This is the flagship of the gifts I received, and it will be played a lot.

2- Dschunke: Das Legespiel (Rat Hot)
The laminated tiles for the game Dschunke: Das Legespiel, along with the rules. I am a big fan of Michael Schacht games, so this makes a perfect gift for me.

3- DUNE: Return to the Sietch
A laminated board and laminated bits for the game DUNE: Return to the Sietch. As a fan of Franck Herbert's novels, I was intrigued when I saw this show up on BGG. Santa apologized for the very small bits, but hey it is playable and the laminated finish adds a touch of quality.

4- It's All Chinese to Me!
Presented in the original Chinese Take-Away box, the cards for It's All Chinese to Me! They will be used on Sunday, as we invited a couple of friends for a gaming night.

5- Warehouse Elves
The laminated board and the bits printed on cardboard for the game Warehouse Elves. This is a two player game, and as Santa suggested I'd pass it along to a child, I already know someone who will be very happy with this nicely crafted gift.

Santa added a few specials in the parcel: a bunch of ziplocks (how does he know I use tons of ziplocks to keep my boxes tidy ?!), a brown meeple and two letters.

Yes, Santa wrote me a letter, and I also got a picture of him and his lovely wife - I always believed he had a white beard, but he is actually a young chap sipping champaign.

So thank you so much for all the nice gifts. You can see the elves have worked hard, all the games are printed and crafted with very high quality standards.

And a big thank you to Andrew who made all this possible. I had lots of fun and I look forward to next year's edition meeple

I have the best PnP Santa EVAR! He (she ?) made me Dune Express and it is a wonder to behold. It has a round box, felt lined so it can act as a dice tray. The top of the box has a label that's laminated and the lettering seems to have been cut out with x-acto for a neat textured effect. The dice are wood, with stickers for the symbols. The tokens are transperant plastic, stickered on both sides and include plastic blue gemstones. The board is round with foamcore (?) on the back and the rules are printed on parchment type paper, with rounded edges and neat folding. The whole package is just incredibly meticulous and well done. It is really of jaw-dropping quality. I need to post pictures, as words are inadequate. If this game had been all, I would have been very happy, and boasting about it to my gaming buddies for years to come. However my awesome Santa made me two more games...

This game has been a bit of a holy grail for me. Long out of print, it's now a Print'n'Play game. Again my Santa made a great looking box with a laminated label on the front. The tiles are foamcore with laminated labels on both sides. They feel great and have a nice size to them. Again, an incredible job.

Plus I got this awesome game! I've been looking for a way into 18XX gaming, and now I have the perfect start.

To say that this game is professional quality would be an insult to it. The board is mounted and looks like something that would come in a Mayfair game. The tiles are laminated and gorgeous. The money and shares are just incredible, printed on parchment paper and evenly cut.

I can't even imagine how long it took to make these games. I showed them to my family and they were just stunned. Thank you so much Santa!

I finally have the time to post the game I received from my PnP Santa.

First I want to say that I was impressed by the card I received with the gifts. I got an original PnP certificate

And that's cool.

Here are the gifts wrapped:

And finally here are the games unwrapped:

So I received:
BINDLE RAILS Rainy country version.

Very nice game, very well made. I even will be able to play it in my bath or in a pool... Cool.

Then:
Postcard from the revolution

I hadn't heard of the game before. But I play wargames with my best friend from time to time and I will surely give this one a try.

A finally a apparently PnP Santa Hit:
Micropul

I once made a copy of it but no way as well made as this one. I liked to play it so it will be played again....

SO A BIG BIG THANK YOU PNP SECRET SANTA

fatum, are you my PnP secret santa?

...which is exactly what my PnP Secret Santa did. He went overboard with the games!

Let me preface this post by letting you know that this is only the first of two packages (the latter being late because he had trouble getting some components on time). So this isn't all of the gifts my SS sent. But what gifts there are!

Let me show you them:

This is the gift-wrapped box that I received a number of days ago. It sat on my desk, taunting me. But I wouldn't open it before Christmas, as per Santa's hand-written instructions.

So Christmas eventually came and I opened the package. Everything was neatly organized in individually labeled zip-lock pouches and came inside an [a-MAZEing Labyrinth box. My first thought was, "He got me Master Labyrinth? A game from my wishlist?" But then I realized that this is just a box to hold all of the PnP goodness. And as far as that goes, this box was a veritable cornucopia.

Here's what was inside:

A - A personalized letter that read, "PnP Santa is coming..." on the cover and, "...and it's certain he will leave lots of awesome Print-n-Play games just for you on Christmas Eve!" Which is what he did.

B - Sink the Bismark designed by BGG's very own Felbrigg Herriot. This game was unwrapped and meant to tide me over until Christmas. Santa mentioned that it reminded him of arcade games from the 80s in that you are fighting off hordes of flying enemies and the goal is to shoot down as many as you can until you finally perish. Little did he know that those arcade games (Galaga, Space Invaders, R-Type, et al.) are one of my favorite hobbies. So this game is a perfect fit.

C - Vietnam Solitaire. Secret Santa asked my which periods interested me most as far as war games. I told him Vietnam and WWI, and he delivered on both fronts. This one looks like it will offer some good fun. I'll probably play it after the next item.

D - Showtime Hanoi. A much smaller Vietnam war game. This will probably be the first one I play, as it seems pretty accessible and Santa said it comes from his favorite line of war games.

E - Elves Under Hoof. A Christmas-themed war game of elf-on-reindeer combat.

F - Stacktactica. One of BGG's hidden gems. It does look interesting. I can't wait to play this one.

G - Hamel 1918. A more traditional war game set during the Great War. Since I've never played a war game before, I'll undertake this one after first wetting my feet in some of the other games he included.

H - Zombie in my Pocket. A game I still haven't made myself for some reason or another. He even included scenario books one through five!

I - Infection Express. This is the one I was most excited to see. It was high up on my to-print list. The only reason I didn't already print my own copy is that I was missing the little wooden cubes. Not any more!

J - Dice of the Living Dead. One of a few great solo dice games that I have been meaning to print. This one will definitely bring me a few hours of diversion.
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
Part II, This Time it's Personal!
I received the second package from my Secret Santa while I was on vacation. It was waiting for me when I got home. I opened it before any other piece of mail (especially bills). Let me show you what was inside:

Even though there were only two additional games, the second package was just as good as the first because it included two games that I was really interested in and would have eventually made myself.

K - Dune Express. This game has seen a lot of publicity lately for its Geek Award and the fabulous wooden versions made by people like Scott Evans (pic) and Andrew Tullsen (pic).

L - Agricola Express. A fellow entrant in the pnp dice game contest, this game's simple and attractive presentation has always appealed to me. I've never played Agricola, but I don't think it's a requirement to enjoy this game.

M - He also included a few components that were missing from the first package, namely additional parts to Infection Express.

So, needless to say, my Secret Santa went overboard. There are so many games here (and still more to come!) that I will be busy well into the new year. So let me finally say: "THANK YOU SECRET SANTA!" You did an amazing job. I guess you chose an appropriate box after all!

Here are the sweet goodies that I received.

First, opened the shipping container and found a nice card.

And my SS had chosen, from my wish list, the game Oh No, There Goes Tokyo!.

and put it into a nice one-piece box.

The game board was four laminated pieces.

In fact, all the components were laminated and the rule book was in a nice report binder.

After reviewing my profile, Santa then went above and beyond also included a little train game called Country Trains. This was not on my wishlist, but Santa saw that I do like train games.

And Santa also included a copy of the Agricola X-Deck and some tiny decks of playing cards in sturdy plastic boxes.

Thank you Santa.

Finally got my photos off the camera so I could post this...First off, a great big THANK YOU! to my secret santa. He did a great job not only in the construction, but also in choosing games for me. In fact, I joined this Secret Santa exchange as a way to force myself to start making pnp games, as I'd been meaning to for years. And Agricola Express was the first game I planned to make once I finished the ones for my target. But now I have it, and can go right to the playing!

It comes with a dry erase score sheet!

Also in the box was Zombie in my Pocket

Very nicely laminated, with the room tiles mounted on pieces of tile. Another game I planned to make for myself someday.

And Micropul the Mud, Stick, Farmer version

mounted on very thick pressed board...stuff (sorry, girl moment, can't think of the word for it...).

And finally Dungeon Sprint

A game I'd never heard of, but am eager to try (I'm a sucker for dungeon games)

Thanks again, Secret Santa! And can I say, your address looks very familiar...

Well, The day after Christmas I got Delve the Card Game in the mail. I had recieved a letter from Santa saying my package would arrive late, but I should be getting a card game in the mail before the package arrived.

It took me a while to realize that this package from ArtsCow was actually from my Secret Santa.

I took some pics, but my laptop, which is my main system) recieved a fatal blow from one of my girls, so my shattered 17" display only shows about 6"x4" now making using it, and posting here extremely difficult. Will post more when my new system comes in (seems like a lot of us are having technical difficulties this time of year.)

Thanks Santa for what you've sent, and I look forward to the package!

Edit: New laptop up and running, added image of Delve cards, still waiting for rest of the package to arrive.

Sorry PnP santa. My data cable is missing so pictures are not handy as of yet. The things I got are:

Punch!, Weilong, Army Ants, Isle at War, The Battle of Brandywine Creek, The Battle of Germantown and a copy of the rules to Micropul. I will try and get pictures loaded when I find my data cable. Sometimes I miss my floppy fed digicam. The three war games are in smaller manila envelops with the rules printed, laminated and tapes onto them for easy storage/access. Punch, Army Ants and Weilong are all on playing cards. A very nice haul indeed. Sorry I didn't post about it sooner. Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and will game in the New Year!

So as I was nervously making my targets game, I checked the mail (geek and snail) everyday until I received a clever geekmail about my package being on the way. Everyday I tossed and turned myself to sleep every night dreaming of what it would contain. But my dreams were crushed when I realized I gave my address at college instead of where I was! cry So at 3 I would text my room mate everyday asking if a package came. Today I received the best news in weeks, it arrived!

So I received the game at the top of my list: The Blue Moon City Expansion Tiles. I really enjoy playing this game and and always looking for new excuses to play it. I really hope this sparks my desire to play this game. From what I've read it really adds some great aspects to the game. The tiles are made with excellent quality.

(ooh shiny!)
They aaaalllllmost match the colour of the base game perfectly. The tiles are very thick and clanky, I don't see them every falling apart ever. I cannot wait to try them out.

(finally a use for those extra green cards & the story behind it is hilarious!)

Next I recieved an awesome copy of Decktet. I have heard of the game but never knew too much about it. My secret santa picked it out based on the fact that I like fantasy based games and s/he was right I really like the art on the game. Decktet came with Biscuit, Jacynth, Turtle Butt , & Quincunx. The tuckbox is awesome and was a great touch.

(look at that cool light keeper!)
They are very shiny and look very sturdy. Its great to have a game that can play so many games.

Thank you so much secret santa!!!! I am thankful for these unexpected games and will cherish them. This has opened my eyes to realizing I have only made 4 print & play games (Hive, Igel Argern, Incan Gold, & Chunky Fighters) and really need to make more of them. So because of this I will have plenty of new games to try to make. Thank you so much! Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays.

After many days of anxious waiting, my waiting was not in vain. Today I received from my Aussie Secret Santa two great PnP games. The flagship being a very high quality edition of Creepers. Looking through the rules and incredibly well done pieces, I'm very excited to play this and share with my students in my Strategic Gaming Club.

Then, after examining at my "greeting card",

I found the second PnP - Warehouse Elves!
Not yet cut but that's perfectly fine as I can use my school's great laminator on the printed sheets.

A big thank you to my Secret Santa. These are two new great games to add to my gaming club's collection and one's I'm sure they've never heard of before as they primarily play Risk (Revised Edition), Carcassonne, Chess, and Catan. I like to give copies of Zombie in my Pocket and it's variants as prizes to winners. (Thanks Jeremiah). I had a great time with this PnP Secret Santa. Thanks again, Andrew! I'm looking forward to doing this again and would even be interested in a Christmas in July one too.

Having been warned that something was delayed in my Secret Santa gift might be delayed a little, I wasn't worried when a box had not landed on my front porch on Christmas morning. What I didn't realize until a couple days later is that neither my wife nor I had checked the mail at the street since before the holiday...

Lo and behold, a smallish box had arrived all the way from New Zealand and was just waiting for me to walk across the street and pick it up! I'm not used to packages that fit in the box, so I just didn't think to check. Fortunately, good things come in small packages!

First up was a very nice card with a Christmas Kiwi on it (very cool) and a nice note inside. Sorry for the glare here. Notice that sun? Oh yeah, it's summer down there for Christmas!

Next up was an extremely nice set of Ambagibus. I got to play it tonight as I was taking pictures, and I absolutely love this game! It's a ton of fun and a nifty little solo game (about mazes, which I love).

Oh, and here's a picture of the end of my first game:

Next up were the scoring tiles (just add standard playing card decks) of a lightweight little card game, Precipice:

Last up was a game I've been meaning to play for a long time (and am very excited to play sometime soon), InterUrban.

Overall, Southern Hemisphere Secret Santa... thanks so much! It definitely brightened my day to open these up and start playing with them! Thank you!
