We have people from Germany, France, Australia, Poland and etc. here (not forgetting about the US majority). I decided to create a GeekList with the rankings of games from different countries.

Check the ratings of the first 150 games on BGG for your country, then sort them out in a proper order and excluded games with less than 100 voters.
Add comments to the rating if necessary (Why for example given game is so popular in your contry and not on BGG).
As an imageID give the cover box front of the game with highest ranking.

Here is a model:

1 (place in your contry) | 1 (place in BGG) | Name of the game | Rating/Number of voters

Short Analysis

As you can see eurogames reign in Poland. It is inevitable, since our western neighbour is Germany.

Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization is the Queen of the ranking. First of all it is a Czech game (our southern neighbour), second of all my generation was brought up on the computer game. Even now my parents (53 years old) and my brother (20) play the newest version. And above all who does not want to create his/her civilization from a scratch - especially in Poland, which was not present on the World map for 123 years and then, after IIWW was being devastated by communism until 1989 (I am exaggerating little bit ).

Second interesting game in the rating is Neuroshima Hex! It is a very good Polish game, local patriotism is strong in Central Eastern Europe

With Bridge being one of the most popular games in Poland Tichu ranking was inevitable.

A Game of Thrones is so high because it was one of the first games of that kind translated into Polish.

Dixit might be also a surprise for some of you - if I remember clearly it comes from France - but it is one of the best party games out there.

StarCraft is also very high - having a great fan base in Poland.

As you could notice Pandemic is not there, in Poland it is on 44th place (7.38/282), the people I play it with claim that it is too easy and prefer Battlestar Galactica. Can't blame them BG (the series) has a cult following in Poland, and right now the game is present quite often on my table.

I hope this short analysis shed some light on the gaming life in Poland.

Hail to the Geeks!

We Brits apparently love us some Twilight Struggle.

Also, Agricola is more highly rated than Puerto Rico

Highest movers are:
Chaos in the Old World, which we rate 7th (was 39)
Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery, which we rate 14th (was 32)
Endeavor, which we rate 16th (was 34)
Hammer of the Scots, which we rate 17th (was 49)
Struggle of Empires, which we rate 21st (was 50)
Wallenstein, which we rate 22nd (was 47)
BattleLore, which we rate 27th (was 41)
1960: The Making of the President, which we rate 29th (was 33)

Games which dropped out of the top 30 are:
The Princes of Florence (was 18)
Paths of Glory (was 19) - only one to have too few raters
Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage (was 20)
Goa (was 21)
Combat Commander: Europe (was 24) - just missed out
Ra (was 28)
Twilight Imperium: Third Edition (was 29)

I had to reduce the number limit as Poland has 38 million inhabitants but Hungary has only 10 million So I chose the limit of a minimum of 33 votes for each game, otherwise I couldn't have even found 10 games for this list.
Games that were published in Hungary (e.g. you can find boxes of them with Hungarian text printed on them) are with green.

30 I 75 I Tikal I 7.66 / 98

As for the results, the first one that really surprises me here is Goa (nr. 5) as it wasn't published in Hungary and seems relatively unknown here... and yet it's appreciated very well (of course I'm happy to see these results). Looking at the numbers it seems thinking man's games are very well appreciated here, while Ameritrash is hugely underrepresented - not really by ratings but they are really unknown by most players here. As for items nr. #1 to #8 I'm happy to see these games get mostly the rating they deserve (especially Samurai which has to be above 8!).
The popularity of Carcassonne is really surprising, especially considering the fact that The Settlers of Catan came only 37th with a 7.4 rating (and even The Castle and The City is more liked here than Catan). I think both of them were published in Hungary in 2003 so you can't even say it's because one of them is more well-known. On the other hand, it's not surprising at all that Ticket to Ride:Europe is more known and more loved (7.88 vs 7:58) in Hungary than vanilla TtR (considering the map even has Budapest shown).
Two games having a lot better position than at the average geek: Vikings and Maharaja (and two games I haven't tried yet). It seems the design of Michael Kiesling is somehow close to our mind; further investigation is needed.
On the other hand, Pandemic has only a rating of 7.40 (enough for a 36th place) and I'm not sure if it's because of the dark theme (we're not very optimistic bunch of people) or because of the huge luck level. Or maybe it's the genre: Hungarians are really competitive so they're not too good in cooperation (so it's even surprising that a partnership game like Tichu could even make it to the top 30).

Update: out of curiousity I checked the games 'til #400 at BGG. Only one game made it to the top 30: game nr. 215, Chess has a 7.89 rating by 42 voters, further reinforcing my belief that thinking men's games are popular here. Finca (non-eligible with 24 voters only) would be nr. 25 with a 7.78 average; a result I'm happy with as this game has really grown on me and I find it to be a great design. From the #150 to #400 crowd two more games had great results, even if not good enough for top 30: nr. 38 would be San Marco (BGG #156) with 7.57 by 60 voters and nr. 43 is Hacienda (BGG #189) with 7,36 by 34 voters.
