Dave and Tami Koch organize this great event every year and it's safe to say that it has become my favorite 3 days of gaming. Much thanks to everyone involved.

I showed up at 9am sharp on Friday morning and powered my way through until 2am on Sunday for a total of 41 hours of straight gaming. Things are a little hazy from the second day of the convention but I think I remembered nearly everything that I played.

When you play a game of Agricola with me and Mike you're in it for the long haul. I'm not sure Bob and Emily realized what they were getting themselves into but they managed to avoid playing with both me and Mike at the same time after this until late Saturday night.

I was start player and got the Patron down right away so I could go on an occupation playing spree. I don't think I ended up playing all of my occupations but I did get the Net Fisherman down right away so I could get some food to go with my early Reed grabs. I extended my house in the first round in hopes that Family Growth would come out right away, I lucked out and got out to a nice 3 family member lead in turn 5. Mike somehow got all the way up to 5 members by the time I got my fourth out and things were pretty tight until the end of the game. Mike actually played more cards than me (grumble, grumble) by the end.

Mike ended up squeaking out the victory by 1 point as calculated by his iPhone.

I haven't gotten to play this game too many times but I really enjoy it each time I get a chance.

I lost a big chunk of my ship in the third round to a volley of lasers followed by a sabotage both targeting parts that were holding my ship together. Luckily this was right at the end of the round and I had a big enough lead built up to pull off the win.

I think this was a 5 player game with just cards from the base set. It was a pretty weird distribution with only 1 five cost card, a whole ton of 4 cost cards, and nothing that gave +actions aside from the Spy. I remember that Workshop, Remodel, and Gardens were in play and strangely enough only one person went for the Garden strategy. I grabbed a couple of Remodels and turned some of my Estates into additional Remodels until they were all gone. I continued remodeling for the rest of the game getting a couple of Gold-to-Province deals before it was over but ended just a little short of the leader.

I'm always up for a good 5 player game of Puerto Rico. I started with corn and went for the early Hacienda to pick up some more goods for shipping. I got pretty lucky with my first couple Settler grabs and had a nice Corn crop growing fairly quick. I built a warehouse and sugar mill then held off for a while and was able to pick up the Custom House in the middle of the game. Craftsman got picked quite often as one of the other players had a Wharf and I made a killing on shipping for somewhere around 32+ points.

I jumped in on this as they were setting up, we played 5 players on the US map. The right side ended up being pretty packed and we hit Step 2 just one turn before hitting Step 3. Me and one of the other players made a big jump to 16 cities to end the game and ended up tying on money and total number of cities. This was the first time that I've seen a true tie in Power Grid.

I was going to get in on a game of Arkham Horror but the roster filled up to 8 players and I didn't really want to commit to such a long game so Adam, Brandon, and I started our late night with a game that Brandon and I wanted to try out. Thanks to Dave for staying a little longer to explain the rules to us.

I made it my goal to become as evil as possible so I could take on those pesky Paladins. We had an earthquake in the first year which made things really difficult for our first play and I ended up 1 evil short of getting the Paladin to come visit me. The second year I really buckled down and made sure to pump up on evil and claimed the top level adventurer from each group along with the Paladin. I was able to kill all but one of them by making quick work of the Paladin, louring him into a room and jumping him with 2 of my monsters. Brandon ended up beating me by 2 points as he killed all 6 adventures that came his way.

I enjoyed the theme of this game a lot but was a little disappointed that I didn't get to do quite as much as I would have liked to for such a long game. I would probably play it again but I really had high expectations and it didn't pay off like I had hoped.

This had hands down the weirdest artwork I have seen in a game. Maybe it was partially because it was getting really late by this point but seeing a 1 legged dinosaur that somehow wasn't falling on his face with some crazy fur and a little umbrella floating above him really hit the spot. The added bonus of getting to place various parts (legs, horns, fur) on the dinosaur made this hilarious.

Luckily I was having such a good time rearranging the parts on my dinosaur because I thought the actual game play was pretty repetative and I didn't care for the all important die roll for turn order.

Having played Warhammer 40k quite a bit back in the day, I was pretty excited to give this game a try (I know this is based in the Warhammer universe not the 40k universe but the Chaos stuff is actually identical in the two). I probably should have paid more attention during the rules because I had a pretty poor grasp on what I was supposed to be doing.

I played as Tzeentch and tried to win by clicking my dial quickly. I was able to get two clicks on the first turn but received punishment from Khorne and Nurgle shorly after that and Slaanesh decided to join in as well near the end. Brandon played Slaanesh and was able to hide out in the corner and was largerly ignored and ended up creaming us. The game ended on Ruined regions and I only scored 1 of them so I didn't do so hot.

I liked the game a lot but didn't really catch on quickly enough to be competitive. I'd like to give this another try at some point

I don't really care for dice rolling in my Euro games but I love a lite and quick game of Can't Stop. I made it my personal goal to keep rolling until I hit the top of at least one column. I was able to hit the top of 8 on my first turn and then nearly completed 7 and 9 on the turn after that but busted on a roll of all evens. We filled up most of the middle columns and on my last turn I went for 2's, 4's, and 12's and successfully hit it at least 6 turns in a row finishing off the 2 column for the win. In my defense I was pressured into it and didn't realize just how bad the odds were since I was so tired by this point.

I wanted to try and play something with Dave since I hadn't gotten the chance to get a game in with him on Friday so we sat down to this little gem. I zoned out a little bit during the rules since I was pretty tired but Adam suggested going for actions early so I gave that a try. I didn't really have much of a strategy after that and decided to claim both cities connected to the bag upgrade and ran that for a little bit before losing one of them. I got up to a route of length 5 but the game ended before I could upgrade my keys.

I really enjoyed the amount of strategies that seemed to be present in this game. I think I'll be getting in a lot more plays of this in the future.

I wasn't really up for learning anything new at this point since I was having a hard time following rule explanations so I jumped into a game of Princes of Florence. I ended up with 5 occupations that shared 2 different buildings and grabbed all 3 freedoms and landscapes so that I could play them all for full points. I was also able to grab the Prestige card that gave 8 points for all 3 freedoms and snagged a bonus card worth +5 on the last turn to share greatest work and win by 2 points. We had an incredibly tight game with all 4 players ending within 4 points of each other.

I'm not terribly into game with blind bidding but I hadn't tried this yet so I figured I'd give it a try. I ended up losing just about everything that I went for for about the first half of the game and when I finally got going I was already 50 points behind. Needless to say I got pounded and my opinion of blind bidding has not really changed much. I still think it's a pretty good game but it just isn't my thing.

Another quick mindless break, Adam picked this out and after about 10 minutes of trying we got absolutely no hippos under the spinning ring. I don't know if I was just way too tired to play right or if this game is just impossible. Even though we both sucked really bad it was a lot of fun.

Another game of Puerto Rico. Luckily I'm already quite familiar with this game because I was just about out of thinking power by this point. I started with corn and grabbed a large indigo plant right off the bat (who knows why) and went corn and indigo crazy. I eventually picked up a small and large market as well as a small sugar mill so I could get some income going. I finished off with a Factory and the Guild Hall along with some last minute shipping.

There was a two way tie for first and I was only one point off. All in all I was pretty happy with how well I did considering how tired I was.

Kevin was finishing up another game before he taught us Factory Manager and Adam went out to grab dinner so Krista and I got in a quick game of Traders. Krista got off to a good start shipping a nice load of yellow, which she started the game with a chip of. We pretty much traded off big deliveries for the rest of the game and managed to share every delivery so we both finished with 8 chips. I believe I ended up barely winning by 2 points.

Seems like every time I play this game it's with Krista and I always have a great time.

Many thanks to Kevin for teaching a group of all new players how to play Factory Manager. I didn't pay attention at all during the rules explanation so I had no idea what I was doing at the beginning of the game. Luckily this game is way way simpler than it looks so I caught on after the first turn.

Adam seemed to be trying to get as many workers out as possible and then ended up sticking most of them back in the break room on the last turn. Steph got her income up pretty high very quickly but I lost track of what she was doing after that. I tried to focus on going first or second in turn order and then getting the best parts. I was able to save some money from the first round and purchased the highest upgrade of one of the special rooms right away but had trouble getting my income up since I was at the mercy of what parts the other players brought down. I ended up getting second after Kevin who I probably should have been watching more closely since he was the experienced player.

I enjoyed this quite a bit, it seemed kind of long for what little happened but that was most likely due to the fact we had 4 new players.

Mike and I tricked Emily and Bob into playing another game with us. This one didn't take nearly as long as Agricola to play so I think they made it through alright. Mike and Emily got off to a really good start, grabbing and lot of good scoring events, with me and Bob catching up a little during the board scoring phase. I was down by a good 15 points or so going into the final round but hoped to catch up during the final scoring. Emily and Mike duked it out for first place going into the final scoring but when everything finished there was a three way tie for first. I rushed over to Dave to find out if there was a tie breaker and when I found out that there wasn't I pushed a chair over. Bob claimed the victory since the three of us were too busy fighting over the proper tie breaker.

Partly because it was so late and I didn't want to play something I would have to think too much about and partly because I was picking out a simple game to teach I picked Dominion for my last game of the night. We started with a basic setup of base game cards and played 4 games with increasingly complicated cards. The last game had Chapel, Witch, Thief, Village as the only +2 actions, and Woodcutter as the only +money card. Todd got his deck down to about 7 cards with only 4-5 money in it and then the thieves started attacking. He joined in the fun and had both a Thief and Witch to get out basically every turn. I had a moderately thin deck with a couple of Moats to try and protect myself as best I could. We finally got up to the level to buy Gold about half way through the game and the Thief let them switch hands often. After the curses were gone things speed up a little and the game finally ended with Todd claiming the win.

Because 2 straight days of gaming wasn't quite enough I headed back Sunday afternoon to get in a couple more games.

I got the fountains goal and tried to keep the others away from fountains without giving away that it was my goal while slow playing so I could claim a couple at the end. This worked pretty well and I was able to clench the victory after being corrected on a blunder that would have cost me the game.

I really enjoyed this one and would like to try a four player game at some point.

Since I missed out on the big 5 player game that went down on Friday night I decided that I needed to play this at least once before I left. I had Rebel Cantina as my start world with New Sparta, an Uplift windfall, and a small Rebel world in my start hand. Ross had Separatist Colony for his start world and had Uplift Code and an Uplift windfall in his start hand. Ross explored twice, couldn't find any military, and proceeded to build the Alien 6-dev along with Alien Sentry. I got out New Sparta and the Uplift windfall and we were off. I probably should have rushed things more since I had plenty of military worlds to settle but I didn't think I could overcome Ross' bonus from his increasing supply of Alien worlds. I traded and explored to try and find a 6-dev, big military world, or some consume powers but didn't find anything until the last turn when I drew 5 6-devs in one explore. Ross got down SETI near the end and took the game 60 to 48.

One last quick game before we packed up. I think it didn't work nearly as well with 5 players since the mice run out quickly and you can get stuck with Jokers on the random cards but I would play again with 3-4.

After this I went out to the lobby and cried for joy as the Canadian hockey team won the Gold medal over the US. GO CANADA!
