This is a list of rest stops made at FLGS as I try to break up the monotony of road trips.

Generally, I will be driving along 300 miles into the 1100 mile trip when I realize some major city is just up ahead and everyone needs a break. I pull out my Crackberry, hit the master list of FLGS entries:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/2090808 . Find a stop that is only marginally off the highway, and say, "Who's ready for a little break?"

Here are a few recent stops with some interesting info for each. Feel free to add your own rest stop notes for stops you make on road trips.

For consistency sake, I am collecting:
* Road Trip info (origin/destination, date, reason for trip)
* Name of Store
* City, State
* Thread referencing store
* Game purchased and price
* Baseline game cost of either Power Grid or Puerto Rico
* Any other pertinent info

Made a trip from Dallas to Kansas City and back over the weekend of 5/1/2010, on a college visit for my older daughter

Stopped in at TableTop Game & Hobby while staying in Kansas City, MO
more info here: Game stores in Kansas City

Purchased Mystery Express, but I forget the price.

Didn't check the price on Power Grid or Puerto Rico.

The store had a nice game room attached. Also they had a good selection of both minatures and boardgames. No Comic Books.

Made a trip from Dallas to Austin over the weekend of 7/10/2010 to visit my brother-in-law for his birthday.

Stopped in at Great Hall Games in Austin, TX
more info here: Game Stores in Austin, TX???

Purchased Ingenious: Travel Edition as a gift for my brother-in-law; Price was $20 even.

As a reference, Puerto Rico was $45 in the store.

Several racks of boardgames and a minatures section. The most interesting thing about the store was a HUGE selection of puzzles that my wife browsed while I looked at geek stuff at the other end of the building. No Comic Books.

Made a trip from San Antonio home to Dallas on 5/2/2010 after droppng my daughter at Trinit University.

Stopped in at The Game Closet on the way through Waco, TX
more info here: [Waco, TX] The Game Closet

Purchased Thurn and Taxis for $34.99

Store didn't have a copy of Puerto Rico, but Power Grid was priced at $44.99

The Game Closet is a pure old-school gamer's cave kind of place with lots of tables set up for gaming, and a few racks of games, and minatures. Even when we stopped in at 5:00 on a Sunday, there was a game going on at one of the tables.

Stopped in a little place called New World Comics and Games in Oklahoma City, OK when in town for Thanksgiving.

Absolutely wonderful comic book store, but the rest of the name is clearly a misnomer. Thousands of HeroClix and one copy of Catan: Cities & Knights – 5-6 Player Extension.

My friend suggest the name should be changed to New World Comics and Game

Made a trip from Dallas to Tayler, TX and back over the weekend of 1/15/2011, to visit friends for the three day MLK weekend.

Tried to find a store out near Tyler or on the way, but there is a dearth of FLGS in East TX. See thread about East TX Gaming

Best I could find was a stop on the far east side of Dallas on the way out of town, Lone Star Comics and Games.

more info here: Lone Star Comics in DFW

Wanted a copy of I Go! to play with our weekend friends, but they didn't have a copy. They did have several shelves of Euros.

They didn't have our usual baseline (Power Grid or Puerto Rico), Ticket to Ride was $50. The staff was helpful to a fault and kept trying to find something that would be a substitute for the card game.

Made a trip for a funeral from Dallas to Post, OK in June of 2011.

On the way back decided to stop in Wichita Falls, TX at their one and only FLGS according to google: Pegasus Loft
More info here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/6992821#6992821

Purchased a copy of Bang! which I have been wanting for quite awhile.

As a baseline for their prices, the cost for Ticket to Ride was $49.99

The store mostly specializes in miniatures with a wide variety of Warhammer items. At the time I visited it was Tuesday afternoon, and there was a BattleTech game going at the front table. The store is a little short of parking but well-lit and tidy.

Took our annual vacation to Pagosa Springs, CO from Dallas the week of 8/4/2011. We always try to get out of the heat in Dallas in that last week of July, first week of August. This year it was a particularly good idea as the temperatures climbed up to three digits without needing a zero in Dallas that week.

Stopped in at Active Imagination while passing through Albuquerque, NM
more info here: Game Shops in Albuquerque, NM?

Purchased Zombie Dice for around $14.99; we were taking vacation with another couple and Bo, the clerk on deck, made a convincing sales pitch to their seven year old daughter. She liked the game enough that I bought it and we played it most of the vacation.

Didn't have Power Grid or Puerto Rico, but Settler's of Cattan was $42 if that is any pricepoint indicator.

The store was incredibly hard to find. You have to go in the back alley of the shopping mall, and wander down the tunnel under the center to find it, but the store itself is attached to a little concession grill so it is set up very well for gaming. The selection was okay with a half dozen shelves, but mostly miniatures, RPGs, and the like. Had the basics for euros with some of the new stuff and a lot of Ameritrash. But the staff were very engaging and willing to help and recommend.

On vacation in Pagosa Spring, CO we found this little game shop downtown that looks like it is mostly a hang out for the local wargamers, but had some selection of games.

It is on Main Street about a block west of the core strip shops and is called Pagosa Games Space
more info here: FLGS in Pagosa Springs CO -- Pagosa Games Space

I didn't buy anything, but since our vacation coincides with our anniversary, my wife stopped by out of my purview and purchased a copy of Letters from Whitechapel; it would be rude to ask the price.

Very little selection, but when you are high up in the mountains at the same elevation as the Donner party, you can't afford to be too picky about how much meat is on the bone. I found Ticket to Ride for $49.

Made a return trip from Dallas to Kansas City, MO on the weekend of 8/19/11 to deposit my daughter in college.

I had already visited Table Top Games on my previous trip, so I opted for Big City Comix and Games.

more info here: Game Stores in KC

Wanted a copy of Tichu for the wife, but they didn't have one in stock. They did have several shelves of Euros.

Ticket to Ride was $50. I ended up picking up a Green Lantern tpb, so it wasn't too much of a bust.

Weekend of 10/7/11 went to Little Rock to help a friend move.

At his suggestion we visited Game Zone Alpha.
more info here: [thread=7664458][/thread]

Purchased The Impossible Machine as a filler game for the massive holiday season gaming we always do; Price was $14.95.

As a reference, Puerto Rico was $44.95 in the store.

Humongous space. Humongous selection. The place was like a circus tent with half of the store with active tables in progress and the other half dedicated to shelves and shelves of games. Old titles, new titles, Warhammer, etc.

It also was a little like circus tent in the fact that it appeared to have a dirt floor and smelled slightly of elephants and popcorn.

Great place, and you will definitely find whatever you are looking for there, just don't go in if you have allergies. I don't think the place has been dusted in the past couple of years.

On our third trip from Dallas to Kansas City to visit my daughter in college.

Stopped in at The Little Shoppe of Games as we traveled through Oklahoma City
more info here: Little Shoppe of Games - OKC, OK

Unfortunately, they were late opening; left after 20 minutes of waiting.

The cardinal sin for a road side rest stop; if you can't trust the opening times on the web, then you might blow precious minutes of drive time AND not get any relaxation to boot.

Might go there again, but not without calling first.

Made our usual Thanksgiving trip from from Dallas to Oklahoma City on 11/24/2011. Decided to give the last Road Stop another try.

Unfortunately, they were late opening; left after 20 minutes of waiting.

Stopped in second time at Little Shoppe of Games. This time on Black Friday.
more info here: Little Shoppe of Games - OKC, OK

Purchased Fearsome Floors, for a mere $49.

Prices were very reasonable, TTR was only $44.

The store itself was cozy, and they had several shelves on Christmas sales. Also they had a good selection new items.
