This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
The Weekly Thrift List Wayback Machine The Grand Vizier is maintaining a list of all the weekly thrift lists through time, and will be adding stats and interesting tidbits for each week. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/48522

Just got this added to the database. A promotional item for Bangor, Maine, which ended up in a GW in Kansas City and I purchased for 99 cents.
This one is unpunched. I think this is missing a mover, but its not clear how many it should have. It plays up to 6, but there are 8 movers and 9 stands, and that is the one thing that isn't specified on the equipment list. Its got a whole mess of stuff though, even a poster of the game board.
It even comes with the 27 coupons redeemable at area businesses. So how many of them are still around, and what would they do with the coupon now?
Out with the family for dinner, and had just enough time to make a quick run into the nearby Goodwill before we had to pick up my daughter. First up was Skip-Bo Dice (not exactly as pictured, but a Canadian version that has French on it). My wife likes Skip Bo so I thought maybe she'd like this one.
My wife needs to do some shopping and to kill time, I decide to head over to the local GW.
As I walk to the game section...I see it...a version of Ticket to Ride that I don't have. It is just sitting there...staring at me...taunting me.
I am about 7 steps away and I start to pick up my pace, but there is an old guy in my way and I can't get through.
I sidestep him (trying not to just run him over), and as I start to reach for it....a lady picks it up. We are talking my hand being about 3 feet away.
I pull back with a lump in my throat and a pit in my stomach.
BUT WAIT...she doesn't appear to know what it is. She is giving it that one-over as if she just wants to look at it. She is reading the back, turning it over in her hands (the same process I use when I am not sure if I want to buy something).
She tucks it under her arm and continues browsing. Is she looking for games for grandkids? She is obviously not a gamer but just a random customer. This isn't over yet!!!!!
Now, we are talking spy-mode. She is walking around the store, with that damn game tucked under her arm, but could she put it back? Maybe she will have second thoughts? I spy her from the next aisle, trying to not be too obvious.
Well, to make a long story short, she never put it back. When she walked to the checkout, I hung my head dejectedly...just 3 feet from one of my best finds.
At that point, I start racing through the what-ifs. What if I am not polite around the geezer that blocked my path? What if my kid didn't take so long getting out the car with her mom? What if I hadn't hit that red light?
So my week started out well and I can say only got better. Goodwill 2.99. This game was unpunched so I figure someone turned in their game collection.. I ask the guy putting out games if there are any more in the back he said yea there is more games maybe well put them out in a few hours...okay so I drive around get some lunch and come back. nothing new. so I go to a few more thrifts and come back around 8 and I find...
yea I find a Dark tower. Good will 3.99 it's 100% complete 2 flags are broken and some one cut off the gold sword. but after cleaning the motor it works 100% and indexes great but it has no box...sigh..This is a personal grail and I have lots of memories playing this with my father.
So I say well I had good luck I'll try back again tomorrow...
So I have been looking for this game for a long time and there it is. Twixt 2.99 Goodwill. Actually after looking for this for years I found not one but five, yes five, this week. I bought four of them. The last one was faded real bad so I passed on the last one.
2.99...So at one of the goodwill's one of the managers is always flirting with me. I'm married and have even been in there with my wife and kid. still she does it. However you have to go through their stock room to use the bathroom. Your not suppose to be able to use it but she lets me. The point of all this is she walks me back and lets me look at the stuff that is going to be put out later. Now before someone cries "foul" I say meh you would too if you could. So I see clash and ask when she is putting them out she says wait around for 15 mins. Then in a bag I see it...
Yea that is it one of my grails. I find parts but never complete.. this one was only missing one fig and a 3 cards 5 wound markers but the rest is there including the dragon wings. In addition there are extra figs from some expansion sets... but there is no box ARGGG with is with the no box this week! but for 1.99 yea baby!! And to top it off Batdive has a box for me!! yahoooo!!
Another Goodwill find it was 1.99. Over all my best thrift week ever. You should have seen me text messaging Batdive when I found all of these games, there must have been 200 messages flying back and forth. I am very afraid I have used up all of my thrifting karma...but I guess tomorrow will tell.
