I'm merely keeping the seat warm.

Taking part is easy:

1) Add the game of the miniature you painted as an item to the list.

2) Add the picture of your painted miniature in the comment section for that game.

(use the format [imageid=xxxxxmedium] where xxxxx is the id of the picture)

That way people will be able to better judge your work. Medium should be sufficient please do not use large.

Rules:

1) The image you submit must have been uploaded during August 2010. Gallery images are ok but submitted images are preferred. As they've gone through the geek mod process it guarantees the picture quality and it's also easier to check the submission date. The contest will end on September 30th.

2) You are the artist. Do not submit miniatures painted by someone else.

3) One entry per person. You may, however, use up to two pictures of your entry to the front and back of the miniature.

4) The winner will be the picture with the most thumbs. You can thumb as many as you like.

5) If you can; include the make of the mini, scale and what paints you used in your entry.

Prizes:

Unfortunateley I'm reliant on tips to offer decent prizes at the moment as I don't have a huge amount of geekgold.

Any tips received will awarded as follows:

1st place: 50%
2nd place: 37.5%
3rd place: 12.5%

So if the tip total comes to 40 geekgold 1st will get 20, 2nd 15 and 3rd 5 etc.

I'll round down tips and put the remainder towards future prizes.

Judging at the end of the month and winners will appear in the next months list.

1st place will now also receive an exclusive microbadge! Microbadge: Golden Turtleback Painted Miniature Monthly Contest winner

Please give this geeklist a thumb to help get it to the front page. The more contestants the better!

And don't forget to click on the images you like and give the actual images thumbs up as well!

The images will be arranged alphabetically by the name of the game entry.

for making us aware of this.

Giles also found this useful website. It's full of useful tips on painting.

Previous contests for your viewing pleasure:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/51364/golden-turtlebac...

Attention anyone feeling too daunted to enter!
We now have on offer for entries finishing outside of the top three so enter even if you think you don't stand a chance of winning. This will be awarded at my discretion and perhaps even split amongst several entries.

Our more experienced painters will be able to offer advice and several people have already said they've learnt something simply by seeing their work next to work they consider to be of a higher standard.
So please enter anyway, you've really got nothing to lose.

There's now a guild for anything miniature painting related. It can be found here

OK, maybe not the most vivid paintjob, but they sure are tiny (1:6000 scale).

My entry this month.

Board Game: Warhammer: The Mass Combat Fantasy Roleplaying Game (1st Edition)

Haven't managed to paint anything this month despite a week off work so it's another bunch that were painted a few years ago.

Scale is 28mm and they're painted using citadel paints. Hadn't even heard of Vallejo back then.

A little paint and an ink wash can do magic. The figure shows exactly where you should click (in medium view)

(the figure WAS painted, I just pimped it up)

Board Game: Check Your 6! Air War Korea
Through my own procrastination I've missed this geeklist since I first heard about it so here's my first entry.

This is a flight of Korean War-era USAF F-84 Thunderjets. I use my aircraft minis with the Series: Check Your 6! series of games and campaign/scenario books. The paint scheme is historically accurate to a scenario (of a real air battle) in Air War Korea in which a pilot named William Bertram (523rd Escort Squadron, 27th Fighter Wing) and his flight were intercepted by trainee Chinese and trainer Soviets flying MiG 15s in January 1951.

The models are 1/300 Scotia Collectair, the decals are by I-94 Enterprises, the flight bases are Noble Minis (specifically made for CY6!) and the planes mount to the bases with magnets. I use Valejo Model Colors paints.

The black stone is to mark off board sectors, this is an in-game photo shake

They explained everything in detail and at great length. After they finished I sat, despondent, contemplating a bleak and empty future. "I’m glad you’re depressed" said one. "It means you’ve understood the situation.”

Another lean month on the painting front (though I did get some gaming in which was very good).

This month I submit two Horde mummies for wargods of Aegyptus.

Front:

Board Game: WarGods of Ægyptus

Rear:

Board Game: WarGods of Ægyptus

I am quite pleased with how they turned out - lots of inking and washes as well as using tips in old White Dwarf magazine for getting the metal of the antique sword to look suitably tarnished - from the crypt to you!

The miniatures are 28mm Crocodile Games from their "Eater of the Dead" range.

Painted with Foundry, P3, Vellajo and GW foundation paints.
