We broke the ice with this Kramer filler. Sarron, Kylie, Nathan, William, Lauren and I played two rounds of Zeks-Nimmt. I was surprised at how well it scaled and was keen to try another round or two. Unfortunately Nathan had to rush off to his BSG game, but I fear that some of the other players thought the game was a load of bull (sorry, couldn't resist)!

I taught this to Craig, Jacqui and Lauren. We were just warming to the game after an hour or so of being played by the rondel when Jacqui had to leave for a few hours to attend a prior engagement. The game was left to be resumed later in the afternoon, but was unfortunately abandoned. I really enjoyed it though and am looking forward to getting it out again soon.

At long last we managed to tee up a game of this LCG. Mark taught Lauren, Craig and me. The game itself is similar to CoC (see below), but with added layers of complexity. It was only my first AGoT game, but I'm not sure that the extra layers added to the game experience. There's a lot to keep track of with four players' variable powers and abilities. Definitely one that needs a few outings before a final verdict is reached.

Mark was Hastur and Yog-Sothoth, I Cthulhu and Shub-Niggurath. Shub-Niggurath creatures dominated early on, leaping to a two-zero story advantage. Hastur slowly reeled the lead in though to bring the game to two-one. Unfortunately, a few beginners errors cost Mark the game as I picked up the final story, which had been nicely poised at three success tokens a piece.
Hopefully I can get a game in with Greg at the next WABA.

Lauren taught Jacqui and Craig the best auction game out there. Numerous doubles in the early rounds saw them closed out with barely three artists played per round, leaving plenty of cards to choose from at the end. Craig timed his run perfectly, snatching the lead from Lauren in the fourth round to win the game with over $500 000.

Rob and Leece taught this to Stephen and I. Rob won in a canter.

Not a bad game with the bonus that it plays to six and is quite straightforward to learn.

This game is in the WABA collection and is easier to understand than it (and the box) looks.

I taught this to Warren and Steve. Billy had played before using only the basic rules. We played this game with all the expansion rules which for me makes the game alot more interesting. Billy came in with the win by miles.

This is a good game but not a great one ( A 7 with expansions). Concensus was that we would all play it again but not actually look to do so regularly.

Played with Zeke, Mitchell, Owen and Paul.

Tried to destroy mad lab scientist Kulak. Being inexperienced, the party split up early, didn't fully utilise their powers and eventually got defeated despite using 3 healing surges.

Played quickly...maybe too quickly.

Played with Paul (Shadow), Steve (Shadow) & Greg (Fellowship).

Session report

Really enjoyed this - especially as it hits the table rarely.

Thought we had won as the fellowship when we were on the second last step of Mt Doom and a -2 hunt tile was drawn. Then Greg quite rightly pointed out that we should have hidden the fellowship first and we promptly lost on the tile redraw. sauron

Looking forward to a rematch!

5 players, Billy, Ernest, myself, Caro and Matt.
A fun filler with Caro winning the 2nd game and Ernest the first.

Ernest, Mark and I tried this out.

No really poker, not really a board game.
Wasn't bad but didn't really have anything to do with gangsters apart from the art and nothing to do about poker except for the adoption of poker hands.

Mark won out after taking control of all the different businesses. The true king of Chicago!

Thanks to Tyrone for bringing this sort of co-op to WABA.

I say sort of as one to two of the players join the Cylons and try to sabotage the humans who have a hard enough time of getting to a jump.

The game began innocently enough, with Madame President on her "political" ship whilst I was Admiral Adama on the Galatica - please note that I have not seen or read anything about Battlestar Galactica, something I took great ridicule about over the game . All I demanded was that, being human, that I be given the Presidency as well as stay in command in order to bring the Galactica under a new order with strong leadership.

After some great manoeuvering, some water and food shortages, we made our first jump with Ms Starbuck / Starjump / Starsomething being promoted to my 2 I C. She proved valuable in taking down those annoying fighters. I was urged to moderate using nuclear weapons which I did. Then the President who had a "terminal illness" revealed that the illness was really an allegiance to the Cylons and she defected! A new President emerged, an ex-criminal. Again I kept insisting that they renounce the Presidency and instate me as Commander in Chief but to no avail. At this point we had also imprisoned a Cylon sympathiser who turned out later to be a Cylon but only after we accidentally freed him and imprisoned the President instead.

After all of this we were nearly home before 2 super crises occurred surrounding the Galactica, destroying nearly all the resources kept on civilian ships and inflicting some damage on the Galactica.

As the ship exploded around me, I sat there, aimed the last weapons at the "political ship" and opened fire. As always, trust the military, never the politicians. laugh

Richard and I taught and started playing this game to two of Richard's friends. Richard and I didn't stay to see whether Earth survived as we had already committed to a BSG game (see above). Apparently, Pandemic's Earth twice did not survive (compared to the humans not surviving against the cylons above).

Rob and I had been called away during lunch for an emergency, which luckily turned out, eventually, not to be one.

It did give us a very anxious three quarter of an hour or so though, and we were wrecked for any serious gaming when we eventually got back.

IceTowers was what we thought would be a nice calmer afterwards. We were wrong, but enjoyed the game anyway.
