A fruitful AGM (?best attended ever) preceded an even more fruitful day of gaming. A very cosy venue reminded everyone why the Banksia room is the preferred setting at Mnt Claremont.

A pre-arranged game saw Lauren as Chief Tyrol, Richard as Starbuck, Eric as Helo, Chris as Admiral Cain and me as President Baltar. Suspicion was aroused early on as Helo made some questionable tactical maneuvers during skill checks which saw him cool his heels in the brig. This was followed by a series of poor jump choices by the Admiral which saw all but one resource dial in the red before Galactica had even reached Kobol. Kara Thrace outed herself shortly after the second loyalty cards had been dealt, followed shortly thereafter by Cylon Baltar who had unsuccessfully attempted to chuck the admiral out of the Pegasus airlock.Population was at 1 and morale at 2 at this point, leading to a certain air of confidence within the Resurrection Ship.

Despite Cain and Tyrol being locked in the Brig and Helo recovering in Sick Bay, the puny humans managed to drag the inevitable out for a good half hour before finally succumbing to the superior tactical play of the Cylon Nation; Humanity's children had returned home!

The Pegasus expansion (minus Cylon Leaders or New Caprica) added another layer of paranoia that made for a refreshing game of BSG.

Lauren and I taught Eric, Chris and Matt. It started a little slowly as most of us were still recovering from a long game of BSG, but quickly picked up pace as the potential strategies began to click for the new players. This is a fantastic game that seems to get better with each play. However, it was another case of Lauren and I being great teachers as Eric won with 86, followed by Chris on 83, Matt on 75, Lauren on 70 and me on a lowly 45.

Rob and I sat down to work out this Roborally type game. It's actually pretty nifty. The rules are online if you want them at koryheath.com/games/rambots You don't really need the little pyramids to play, you can just use coloured bits of paper or fold your own

Elaine came and completely trounced us twice.

Picked this up today from the WABA auction - Tyrone sniped me on Tigris and Euphrates, but I forgive him because he sat down to figure out how to play this with us when he had limited time.

We concentrated on speed, and got what might have been a 90 minute game down nicely, and were able to finish, having just the three experienced (but not at this game) players might have helped speed things up.

It's a nice game, most enjoyable. Intense too...possibly not one for those prone to analysis paralysis though.

And I think we must have been doing it right because Tyrone and I were tied, but Rob won, one point ahead of us.

It's an interesting game, I like it, glad I grabbed it! Thanks for helping us figure it out, Tyrone!

I found myself running short of goods toward the end, Tyrone picked up some points there. All in all it seems an even handed play. This time, will be interesting with more players, Looking forward to trying it with more.

Played this with Stephen, Greg (first timer) and Owen. After two intro rounds, the third and final round was where the action was.

My ship was abandoned after slavers took off with all the crew.

Stephen's ship was battered by pirates and asteroids and he limped home with a third of a ship.

Greg hid behind Owen's battleship but fell apart after a few strikes from asteroids on his unshielded side - he also limped home with a third of a ship.

Owen didn't have any cargo but his guns took out allcomers and won the third round with 46 credits.

Stew asked to play this and Genevieve and Dean joined in, Dean was also new to the game though not to Settlers in general. As I've found in previous games of this the finale is quite exciting, you usually end up with so many cities that income remains steady and everyone has a chance. When it came to it in this game Genevieve and Stew were the closest in the final round with Stew striding over the line for the win.

All of us were new to this game, though as the teacher I had digested the rules previously. Ivan, Billy, Andrew and Tim were the other players. The game is well suited to be taught and played at a meet of this kind, it is simple and has a limited number of turns (five) with little absolute failure chance (you'll always have something to play for, it is difficult to be completely left for dead). I have seen some criticism of this game on a couple of threads and whilst the game is not top shelf it works well for what it is and all the players enjoyed it on the day. Andrew won with a single company strategy by a point ($10).

Genevieve asked to play so we sat down and were joined by Peter and Jeremy. Jeremy was familiar with 4th Ed D&D and picked up the game immediately, Peter had never played but also got up to speed relatively quickly. We played adventure 4 and started by drawing no items, not a good start for the adventure that you win by leaving with 12 treasure items. Some poor early rolls saw the monsters building up, and even when they were killed the treasure drawn was of little use. Eventually three characters went down one after the other and we failed. This, as usual, fueled a desire by all to play again but we were out of time.

Terry taught this to Genevieve and they both played. The game is colourful and eye-catching with the 3D skyscrapers. Genevieve reported that the game is simple to learn and play and she enjoyed it greatly. She particularly liked the big monster and buildings. In the end the monster was victorious, rampaging unchecked through Terryville.

Haven't played this in a couple of years and was reminded why I like it...come very close to the wire between Kristophe and myself, but that VP royal favours track is a hard strategy to beat when there aren't any buildings on the board...

Played with Chris, Jessie and Kylie. My second game ever of Tikal (and the last imte was a couple fo years ago). Despite this I was the veteran as I think only Kylie had played previously.

It was a close game for most of it and I had to leave before the final scoring although I was in the lead due to a good run of tiles that allowed me to segment off a section of the map where I'd built a basecamp.

Ernest, Mark, Tyrone, Nathan and President Me also tackled this game.

Names are listed in playing order and by the time it got to my first turn we were in it deep (apparently). I gathered this from the comments of my fellow trvaellers.

As the game progressed we got deeper into it (trouble that is). With the knife buried deeply in our collective back , Ernest twisted it by revealing himself to be not of our race, but a cylon.

Tenaciously we fought againt the impending disaster, on many occasions knowing that this time it could be our last stand.

I died and had the good fortune to return as a pilot, assisting with delaying the inevitable end, with a couple of handy counter strikes

Finally with our fuel, food, morale and population in the red (who am I kidding, I think three of them were on one and the last on four) the game came to an end.

Jump, and jump succesfully, we did.

Had a game of this early on with Stephen. We actually achieved our mission with minimal losses.

Played another round of it after the Talisman game. Richard and his assault cannon team were wiped out rather early in. The rest of us made it to the third location zone before being completely swamped by the genestealer horde. I believe Ernest was the last man alive with about 12 genestealers surrounding him.

I still need someone to remind me of the other two guys names :$
