This is the geeklist about the "Pasteboard and Plastic XII" all-day gaming event which was held on Saturday 10th July, 2010 at the Scout hut in Saltdean (Brighton, UK). The entry fees, raffle and any other financial benefit gained from all of the P&P events support the 42nd Brighton (Saltdean) Scouts.

The parent list for this event is the Pasteboard and Plastic Metalist. You can reach information about all the P&P events from there.

Thanks to all the gamers who attended for making it such a successful day. I seem to have overlooked putting this together last time - a fact which Dick reminded me about when we got to the next event, 4 months later!

Can you still recall what you played?

Another P&P game. I couldn't get Martin out of England and despite trying to use France against him, I came up short in French and Russian bonds and couldn't stop him taking the win.

Martin 88,000,000, me 76,000,000 ,Ron 66,000,000, Adrian 60,000,000

Mike had played Age of Industry recently and Brass ages ago, so he knew what was what, but I just managed to pip him to the post in a really tight game that could have gone either way.

I'll put this in, as it's the only one I can remember from the day.

I (as the Germans) took on Mark (as the Allies).

The rulebook is poorly laid-out, the plastic pieces are not impressive, and certain rules were unclear - But what a game! Once we'd got the rules sorted, it became heart-thumping stuff, as the allies tried to blast his way down to Arnhem and the Germans tried to cut the communication lines; and the balance of game seemed to hang repeatedly on single dice rolls and tough decisions about where to commit limited troops.

It's fairly rare for a 'direct conflict' game to be played at P+P, but this is certainly one I'd be happy to go through again.

Continuing my belated catch up on these Pasteboard and Plastic lists after a great PnPXIV on Saturday:

Very much enjoyed this although I think I was playing for notlast and failing. Good start to the day. The others I played were (from looking at logged plays) Carson City, Wits and Wagers and, to finish, a couple of games of Guillotine with Helen and Tom. Wits and Wagers was enormous fun and I thought I was doing quite well until the end of the game when I received an education in how to play it. Carson City is a game I enjoy (I love western theme) so I'm sure I was happy to be playing it but alas my poor old memory has a Carson City-shaped gap in it for that day.
