Rowland, Mark, Jason and I started a game of this after dinner. Unfortunately we did not finish it in time but I think from memory Mark's Chinese empire was making good progress towards a possible win. But I suppose anything could have happened had a proper end game been commenced.

Knowing that the game did not have enough time left, Mark had some fun attempting a couple of premature attacks on the capital cities of Jason and myself (which would result in a military victory, and the game, if successful against either of us) but it was much too early as he did not quite have the right amount of military might to do it.

A good game. Look forward to revisiting this one.

Rowland introduced me to a game of this. We played a large scale winter map.

As a long time Tide of Iron player I have been looking forward to trying this as a comparison.

My Americans (who seemed vastly outnumbered I might add) were duly stomped into the ice pack by Rowlands hastily advancing Germans. I refuse to lay the blame purely on the dice I rolled and the cards that were dealt to us...though I did have a fair share of disapointments on both of those fronts We discovered midway that we were forgetting to apply winter effects rules, but in this case I don't think it would have changed the final result.

I had a minor victory on my right flank with a late, but decisive take and hold of one of the village objectives contained therein. But it did little overall other than give me some satisfaction that I achieved something at least.

I really liked this game, and as I suspected, is intentionally designed to be an entirely different take/experience to other tactically based wargames like Tide of Iron etc. I thought the "abstractness" was actually quite appealling. Certainly not necessarliy one for wargaming Grognards of course.

I would like to explore it further.
