First of all, apologies for any mistakes in the title. Tack to JockiB for the correction!

So, in the grand tradition forged by Erik Warnes (unixrevolution) and Arne Hoffman (HRune), I figured we should have a Finland one.

The rules (unceremoniously lifted and adapted from the global and European chains - thanks for all the fish!) are as follows:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------

1. You must comment to the item in question indicating you wish to be in the drawing to receive it in order to be eligible to win.

2. If you win one, you MUST post a game of your own to give away in this fashion. If you don't like that idea, don't play. Please do not wait until you receive your win before offering a game of your own - its all about generosity.

3. Set a deadline of around 15 to 20 days. In the unlikely event that no offers are made on your game within the deadline, add a sweetener or try a different game in its place.

4. Please, no new subchains. There is only one chain, and one item (which can be more than 1 game or a choice of games) on offer at any one time. We tried it the other way, and there were simply too many things to keep track of, and interest was diluted among too many games. If you are really, really, really burning up to to give something, add it as a sweetener to the current item on offer.

5. Please use the BGG trade manager, so that a record of each transaction exists. The sender pays shipping, unless he indicates in his entry that the recipient will and under what grounds (International shipping, etc). Anyone signing up to receive an item where recipient pays shipping agree to do so. This is a Finnish chain, so if you are located outside the Best Country In The World™ please be prepared to pay shipping costs, and send a game right back to Suomi.

5. To award a game to a lucky recipient, the use GeekRoll is recommended.

Banned user list - do not send games to the following users:
N/A
Because of his lack of shame and generosity.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To spice things up, feel free to add something Finland-related to your post. I gave bag tips for the first seeds, and from now on, I will be tipping the according to how much I like the "extra" videos and other media you post about Finland in your entry. Any tips to this geeklist will thus be redistributed.

Oh, and give this list a thumbsup, maybe other Finns will see it and participate, or others will see it and start chains in their own countries.

If you have any questions, comment here or head over to the SLS forum.

KIITOS!

2nd Game

I won Through the Desert and here is my contribution.

It is the Finnish version of the Game from Marektoy (-> Competo).
http://www.competo.fi/product_details.php?p=80

I played it only couple of times, so in good condition.

I'll pay the shipping to Finland.

The draw will be 26.06.11 at 11:06.26 AM.

And a short video, something nice and Finland related...

The Draw:

I decided to use formula of famous boardgame enthusiastic Albert Einstein to find out the winner. E=mc².

The contestant with highest E will win the Maaaali!-game. To determine E I'll need values for m and c for every contestant. m will be average of four dice rolls D6, D8, D10 and D12 and c will be average of four card values in standard poker deck.

So I determined values of m and c for Verbal Kint (Noir).

Dice rolls were 1, 4, 9 and 6.

Cards were 8, 7, J (=11) and 4.

E=mc² -> E = 5 x (7,5)² = 281,25

And since Mr. Kint was the only contestant his E = 281,25 was highest and he is the WINNER! Congratulations!

By winning the game Gang of Four from the 1st chain, I now continue the chain with Manhattan. The game is quite old, but it is in a good condition and there are no pieces missing.

Since no-one seemed to be interested in Manhattan, I'll try to get Dungeon Twister to keep the chain alive. The game is in good condition and has only seen under ten gameplays. Sorry guys for taking so long to update it.

I will pay the shipping to Finland. Enter before Monday the 15th of August 12:00 (Finnish Time), and I'll make the draw during the Monday afternoon. Winner will be notified by GM. More attentive participation and action regarding the chain is promised.

Drawing will be conducted with the Random.org true random number generator, from 1-100 for each participant, and the highest number wins. In case of a draw, a new numbers are generated for all with the highest number.

The reason for three weeks of time to enter the drawing is because I am going on a vacation soon, and will be back on the 14th of August. I truly hope someone is interested in this one, since I have no other games to offer to the list...

I'll roll a D6 with BGG's 'Add a roll function', he'll win if {1,2,3,4,5,6}.

It's a '1', so he wins!

If both the sweeteners are not interesting, I'll instead offer a single game that's in my 'For Trade' collection as a substitute.

3rd chain

By winning Dominion (thanx Indramir!), I'll offer some games for the third chain.

Third time's the charm, so I'm trying a new offering. The latest offering is this new expansion that can be played with any of the stand-alone games in the TTR franchise. As sweetener, I'm adding Ticket to Ride: The Card Game (FIN), "no necessary in-game text".

Thus, two games from designer Alan R. Moon!

And as a bonus sweetener: well-kept Agricola Euchre cards! (Essen2008)

Shipping within Finland on me. The drawing for the lottery will be August 17th, the winner will be decided by roll of a die.

The 4th chain (la chaîne noire)
3rd game(s)

Keep in mind that for this chain (at least I plan to keep to it):
Quote:
7. Inspired by this chain, and again in honour of Noir, the 4th chain will operate as follows:
A. Whoever wants to be in for a game, must clearly state that they are in and must also state what game they will give in turn.
B. The giver of the game can take into account the offered games for the good of the community; naturally, higher ranked games might be preferred and expected to attract more givers.
C. This will go on until such time as Noir has deemed to be as generous as everyone else and offer a game in return for the one he received.

On offer this time is Michael Schacht's Architekton, illustrated by Michael Menzel:
Language: English - No necessary in-game text.
Condition: Minor shelfwear & missing one point token - it does not affect gameplay, and the game is otherwise in great condition.
Shipping: Free shipping within Finland.

But wait! There's MORE!
Say you are in until August 2, and get 8 steak knives!*
Let's extend it to August 9. I will ask Noir to change his offer.

But why stop there! Here's a sweetener:

The 2nd chain

The 3rd game

I won Bohnanza and I'am offering a game:

Parisuhdepeli

Game is Finnish language and in good condition.

How well do you actually know your partner? Parisuhdepeli is an hilariously perfect way to find out! Want to know how well you and your partner really know each other? Parisuhdepeli tells you all there is to know about relationships! This party-game for adults puts your relationship under scrutiny in a playfully serious way.

Areas such as Love, Money, Home, Work and of course Erotica will be put under the microscope! The game is suitable for one couple as well as several pairs playing as teams. When the game ends you can tell how well you actually know your partner! Parisuhdepeli is a funny way to check out your relationship!

Game is very similar to a famous Finnish TV-series Tuttu Juttu.

The Draw will be 26th of October.

I will make a nametag for all participants and attach each tag to a cup.
I'll put little bit of food to each cup and give them to our alpacas.
Winner is the cup from which they eat first.

AND THE HAPPY WINNER IS... "DRUM ROLL"...

TUOMO SYVÄNPERÄmeeplemeeplemeeplemeeplemeeplemeeple

I will contact the winner and thank you all for joining.

1. Carpe Astra is my favorite from these three. Nice little semitactical diplomacy game set in future.

2. Illuminati Deluxe Edition + Y2K expansion. Card game based on cults and world domination. Nice game but too much math for me.

3. Coloretto. Nice quick card game.

The 1st chain

I hope this is the 1st chain
Having won Carpe Astra et al. I'll put out a few card games in return.

1. Fantasy Pub is a "drinking game", so the theme shouldn't be too unfamiliar to finnish people This is the French, German & Italian Tilsit version, but the cards themselves are free of any text and english rules are available here on the geek.

2. Skip-Bo this is the finnish/swedish edition

3. Ligretto (the blue box), rules in english and a few others I forget

I'll let this run until 15.9.

Ooops, almost forgot to add a video. Best that Finland has (had) to offer:

From the overwhelming list of people interested in these games, lady luck picked kreikkaturkulainen as the winner. I will be contacting the winner by GM!

All reality is a game. Physics at its most fundamental, the very fabric of our universe, results directly from the interaction of certain fairly simple rules, and chance; the same description may be applied to the best, most elegant and both intellec

and aesthetically satisfying games. By being unknowable, by resulting from events which, at the sub-atomic level, cannot be fully predicted, the future remains malleable, and retains the possibility of change, the hope of coming to prevail; victory.
