The Optimum Game Selection Tool
The core purpose of the list was to choose the optimum games to play on game night taking into account the number of players you have available, the type of game they want to play and the weight of the game they want to play.
Of course it can also be used to decide the best games to buy for your group.
I decided that it would be good idea to update the geeklist making the most of the updated information on BGG. I also wanted to add a list of games for each entry rather than just one. This version aligns game type with the BGG subdomains. It also uses updated user inputs in terms of game ranks, weight and optimum number of players polls.
Weight is a relative term. I have used BGG weight ratings, but have adjusted them by subdomain so that there were almost equal groups in Light, Medium and Heavy for that subdomain.
This means that a game could be categorised as both a Heavy Family game and also a Light Strategy game or Light Wargame.
Childrens games are split by age group using the BGG recommended age group polls, not weight, as they would otherwise all be Light! This means that if you are looking for games for a four year old you'd probably want to look in both the "3 years and up" and "4 years and up" sections.
If you think a really good game for an entry is missing then feel free to add a comment to that entry
If you find an incorrect or broken link then please geekmail me rather than adding a comment which will still be there after the link is fixed. There are a lot of links here!
Have Patience after clicking the links - they will take you to the geeklist entry eventually!
An updated version of this list is here:
