The numbers looked low early, but soon, the place was filled with gamers regular and new. With new games taught, cooperative games played and the maths trade trading being conducted, there was something there for everyone.

I think that this game relies on the company you play with-too chaotic and it can descend into a mess, too uptight and it falls flat. Fortunately for me, I played with Mark, Tyrone, Tim and Andrew. The hilight of this game was Tim flitching so many cards and ships due to his flair ability. This wasn't enough to stop Mark managing a solo win (5), with Tyrone and Tim on 4, Andrew on 3 and me on 1. We played with green aliens.

Tim played Jack the Ripper in this deduction game where Jack kills over four nights and the police have to find and arrest him through deducing where he's been, where his hideout is and Jack's special movements

Similar in concept to Scotland Yard with, in my opinion, a better theme, this game involves a degree of analytical thinking ('he's moved two spots, so we've checked there so he can't have moved there, but could have gone that way, or through there, unless he's moving that way etc.') and some brain burning.

The police (myself, Mark, Andrew and Tyrone who later joined) were not successful early on on the first three nights, but on the last night and when Tim/Jack was one turn away from getting to his hideout and escaping forever, arrested him and won.

It was very interesting to see where Tim/Jack had moved in the previous nights and his and our thought processes.

This was my first time playing with leaders, and it adds another small aspect to this game. Andrew took out the win with a heavy science strategy on 62, followed by Mark on 59, Tim on 55 and myself on 52. The scores were a lot closer than I expected.

6 owners with two cars each took to the track over 3 gruelling races. There were crashes aplenty, spindouts, turbo charges that failed and plenty of movement within the field. Andrew with the green cars led going into the third race. Through no planning of my own, Hamish played the second last card of the last race to bring his orange cars forward, bringing my red car behind him. With the last card of the game, I brought that red car to second place to join my car already in first. When the scores tallied up, I came from behind in the overall standings to clinch the game with 20 points, followed by Andrew on 15, Jess and Hamish equal on 13, Warren on 11 and Mark on 6.

Played a 5 player game in around 2 hours due to a 3 minute timer being used in the planning phase. It was very challenging putting down orders with the time constraint, but most managed it with seconds to spare.

Only Lannister and Greyjoy were never in the mix. Stark looked like a certainty before Baratheon caught up, but nobody saw Tyrell coming, securing a victory on turn 8.

Despite me playing Lannister and coming last, I enjoyed this game immensely. It helps if you get into character and play the political aspect of the game. I definitely had a few laughs at the expense of other's misfortunes. This is a brutally unfair game and it is not for everyone. Thanks to the guys who played along with me.

Taught two games of this to new players.....welcome to the Railways of the World series.

In the first game Grug squeaked home over Chris, Emma, Jess and Hamish. I know that that this game sold at least two copies of the game.

In the second game Teegan (okay, so I went for the simplest spelling) recorded a comfortable victory over Ian, Mal, Me and......Michael/Peter Soares (help).... Not sure if this game sold any copies, but it got on wishlists.

Liz, Tim and I played Alan Moon's Oasis. It was pretty interesting, but I am certain the game would be a lot more interesting with four players. With three players, only the first play gets to choose which cards to take, as you can't take your own cards - therefore a lot of the time you are forced to make moves you don't want to.

With four players the person in second place would get a choice too, and I think there would be a lot more planning and strategy.

But, all in all, it was fun and it was interesting and I would play it again.

We (Liz, Tim and I) finished up with Castle Merchants, which I have to say when we opened the box up, I was a little underwhelmed - the design/production of the game is... not great. And it seemed very generic. I kinda wish they'd come up with a different theme.

Anyway, it's a route-connection and pick up and deliver game, with hand management and, frankly, nothing particularly new, but once we started playing, and we realized how mean the game could be, we had a lot of fun with it.

You need to build the routes (which your opponents can also use) by playing cards that match one of the five route types, but to move along the routes you also need to be able to play a matching card. You start with six cards, and you can redraw as many cards as you used that turn UP TO A LIMIT OF THREE. That was a much bigger problem than it seemed like it would be.

You can move the routes after they've been played and also drop rock-slides onto paths.

The paths change quickly, so it's a little chaotic, and perhaps that might make the four player game less good? Or just more frustrating.

An underrated game!

I'll report this one, as Liz and Tim haven't succumbed to BGG yet.

Liz and Tim played a game of Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries while we were finishing Railways. All I know is that Tim won.

As a new player to the game Greg asked for a refresher game to iron out any rules he was unsure of but he need not have worried. His Hastur/Miskatonic deck started slowed but ended very strong against my Cthullhu/Agency deck, taking out the required number of stories without too much opposition.

Well, I won the first leg, where you don't get as many points, but ended up in the middle of the pack at the end. We had a little player rotation in this, but had a full pack of 6 in each of the three legs.

With the original artwork. :-)

ariaflame, rdm and I taught this to kristof and others.

Good game, Matt and I tied on points, but as he had more cards in hand at the end, he stole the win.

We finished on a snappy game of Mahjong with ariaflame and kristof: Aria salvaged a poor hand to become a very nice exposed Dragonfly.

Played by me, Hadassa, Raymond, Matt, Judson and Julie.

I got to be a cylon for the first time ever, after having played about 10 games! Although this was only because Julie, who started out as a cylon, was dealt the other cylon card in the sleeper phase, and passed it to me. Although I tried to pretend I wasn't a cylon, it was pretty clear that I was, so I still look forward to an opportunity one day to be a cylon from the beginning or at least a hidden cylon from the sleeper phase.

Anyway, at least us cylons won thanks mostly to my supercrisis which put two centurions on Galactica at the same time as damaging the armory... cool
