Seemed like a fair old turn out that day. We had a great deal of fun playing 7 Wonders with the Leader expansion, which I won by having farrrr too much Science, and Wildlife, which I did not. How did the Dominion tournament go in the end?

Had our first 6 player game of this gem, and it seemed to go over well. The Crocodiles fought it out in the end with the Mammoths, with, as I recall, the Crocs taking the victory. My bears didn't do very well as I had a couple of bad misplays in the first few turns. Well, I won't do *that* again.

We taught this one too. I won with a devastating combination of Science which I was very pleased with. Although, it wasn't that devastating really, there was only a 10 point spread across the results, highest 71, lowest 61. Very good game!

My favourite abstract. Taught this to David and just lost. He had 2 colours on '9'. I had three colours on '9'.

Played with Cristophe (sp?), David, Allistair, Jenny and Renato.

Took a while for players to get their head around what the game was about (investing in the most powerful countries, trying to expand such countries while raiding their treasuries for dividends).

Some players lost the countries they initially controlled for others. Austria changed from Renato to Cristophe. I lost Italy for France and got Italy back again. Renato ended up with France. Not much fun when a player has no country to run but fortunately no one sat out for long.

The light bulb came on for most players on the last turn but it was already too late.

Cristophe 116 Roger 108, Renato 3rd other players ...ah, their scores weren't memorable.

More monster smashing fun. Richard, Jason and The Kid.

The Kid had Nova Smash and had just about beaten everyone to pulp. Richard was fixated on his freeze time ability which only appeared to freeze any progress he was making. My cyber bunny had reached 19VPs by lucky rolls. But Jason swooped in with his stockpiled energy cubes (10+) to grab some VP cards for the win at the last minute.

last game with Ernest, Richard and Jason finishing at midnight, played to 1000 pts.

With Ernest's inexperience with trick taking games, Richard and I managed to complete 1 tichu and 2 grand tichus for the win. Jason spent most of this game with one hand on his forehead - 'why, Ernest, why??' sauron.

There were nine entrants to the Dominion tournament and it was run over three rounds. A five and a four player game were run simultaneously and the winner of each was given immediate entry to the final. Then there was a three and four player set of games run with the remaining players, the winners of each of these going on to the final. The final was therefore a single four player game.

1st round, table A
Richard 36
Ian 33
Ernest 23
Tegan 14

1st round, table B
Genevieve 32
Elaine 30
Hong 29
Simon 28
Kim 12

So Richard and Genevieve sat out round 2 having booked their places in the final.

2nd round, Table A
Hong 42
Elaine 30
Ian 17

2nd round, Table B
Kim 38
Simon 36
Ernest 32
Tegan 23

And so on to the final.

Final
Genevieve 8
Kim 6
Richard -1
Hong -8

Genevieve is the winner and received a $20 Tactics voucher.

I plan on running again in November but will borrow another Dominion set to make sure that there are only two rounds.

A 5 player game where we won thanks to my brilliant levelling up and play as the Drow Ranger - whom all the Drow enemies "mysteriously" seemed to miss on their attacks.

Also, my cool jaguar ally just mauled enemies all over the place, not sure how it survived considering it ate a group of poisoned spiders!

Captain Kirk (Jason), Uhura (me), Spock (Renato) and Dr McCoy (Roger) all attempted to recruit Nimbia to the Federation.

Despite valiantly showing down with the Klingon battlecruiser, the planet decided to align with the Klingon Empire. That said, we did manage to avert a civil war and stop an ecological disaster but the natives didn't care.

Overall, we did well on the easiest setting, next time, we'll try Leutenant level!

Played a 2v2 game of this with Tim and 2 girls (sorry, I can't remember your names).

After a slow start the Klingons picked up enough VP in the final turn to take the game and the Alpha Quadrant.

I much prefer the 1v1 version but it was nice to play a longer and larger game.
