In January 2019, John/johniks/Tank Commander named Sam/sam1812 as the new GM of the Ladder.
We will emphasize scenarios that can't be played properly in Memoir Online.
Long may it run.
NOTE: I stepped down from command of the Ladder on Jan 2, 2019 after a run that last over 10 years. Thank you to all the players who were there at the end and all those who played in prior rounds.
On August 29th 2008, I started a group where the players were matched up against each other in each round of play. Each player would play another in a match (2 games - one from each side of that rounds scenario).
The goal of each player is to reach the top of the Ladder and thus earn the coveted "King of the Hill" spot. Once there, a King tried to fight off a new opponent every round thereafter to retain his crown.
Players are ranked according to how they did in the prior round and then are matched up from that ranking.
New players may join before the beginning of any round w/ each round allowed about six weeks to complete.
We use the Vassal platform (a free service) to play the matches. Practically all the official scenarios and many SFtF are available to play with the Vassal Memoir '44 module and extensions.
See this thread that started it all off (Ladder tourney details).
Match / Round guidelines
The most most important part of all this is communication. Please, as soon as you know of any possible delay(s) or your inability (or willingness) to compete in a round / match or finish a round / match please inform me (tank commander - aka John S) and your opponent ASAP. Having stated that, players are expected to follow the guidelines listed below.
If you cannot make a match date , be sure to inform your opponent and yours truly (John - aka Johniks) as soon as possible by sending a BGG message.
If you cancel out on a match date, be sure to come up w/ some alternate dates that you are available and inform your opponent (and me) ASAP by sending a BGG message. The player who cancels out on a match now has the responsibility to setup a makeup date w/ his opponent. I will factor in the effort (or lack thereof) of such a player when determining if a forfeit is in order.
If you find that you cannot play in a round after already committing to do so, inform your opponent and me ASAP.
Thank You all for playing,
John S. - GM
