I've been enjoying roleplaying games for approximately eighteen years. I cut my teeth on Advanced Dungeons & Dragons with my parents (they raised me right), and since then have played over fifty systems and a variety of homebrew spins on the classics. My favorite game systems to date are Pathfinder, Shadowrun (3rd Edition), D&D 3.5, Iron Kingdoms (Both Editions), AD&D (Sucker for Mystara setting), and some of WoD. I'm also what some might call an eclectic gamer. I enjoy boardgames, card games, almost every genre of video games, online roleplaying mediums, and even live action. I also enjoy long walks on the beach beneath the pale blue light of elder gods.
As for my experience with game design, it is hard to be so involved in playing games without ever diving in and trying to make your own. I made my first homebrew approximately twelve years ago, trying out new magic systems and ways of building classes for AD&D. My first pass at an original game system happened around three years later. That system was called Dragon Dreams and ran on OpenRPG as a persistent world game for approximately a year, peaking at around 100 concurrent players. I was pretty happy with myself at the time, being only a teenager. From there I started to drift towards helping others make their ideas a reality. I founded student groups focused on supporting gamers, secured a grant for multicultural games as part of an outreach initiative for international students, and took that mindset with me when I graduated. Following the theme of making things happen, I picked up two masters degrees focused on entrepreneurship and systems design. Since then I've managed to help half a dozen companies make their way towards success, offering business expertise coupled with a game developer's passion.
Somewhere in between all of that I managed to spend time as a Radio DJ, Journalist, Bailbondsman/Bountyhunter, TV editor, Camera man, Computer Technician, PR Specialist, Poet, and some less interesting things. I have a day job completely unrelated to any of this, a beautiful baby boy that may one day rule with a tiny iron fist, and a loving wife last time I asked.
