Traits are components of character that do not easily fit into the q.v. Attribute or Skill categories. Typically, Traits are less-well-defined in terms of mechanical game play than either Attributes or Skills. Traits often do not have information beyond the trait itself (e.g., "Angry" or "Wealthy" or "Likes to spend time fishing and hunting"). However, Traits are components of character that, within the game system, define or describe something beyond soft aspects of personality - a character's dominant aspect, or a character's "super" power, etc.
