Other Hands Magazine was a quarterly subscriber-based hardcopy magazine published and distributed by Chris Seeman from 1993 until 2001 when he was sent a cease and desist letter by Tolkien Enterprises claiming it was "potentially damaging sales of licensed products" (the license being then newly assigned to Decipher for their Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game; published 2002-2007).
It inspired the establishment of a similar journal in the form of Other Minds, but in a slightly different direction and approach (purely online with no compensation of any form). This magazine began its run in 2007 and continues to this day.
The publication was created and run by Chris Seeman, now an Ohio-based professor of theology.
The magazine is now available at many websites in PDF format. In Other Minds, Issue 10 the story of the re-engineering of Other Hands from the existing hardcopies (not just scans, but searchable text with minimal images where unavoidable) was described. All Issues of Other Hands are available at the Other Minds website as a free download.
