The last twice I visited the store (Over 4 years ago now) the staff were far from friendly and I had to interrupt their game play to which I felt I was the one being rude to actually buy a few games, I am pleased the shop has now seemed to have changed as they had an excellent selection so may now have to pop in again when I am passing.

I hope they are moving to somewhere with air conditioning or at least air movement to counteract the rancid stench of stale body odour that used to assault you like a nasal mortar bomb when you walked in.

Most games shops are like that, my local one in Manchester has the very same odour

Regretably gamers have a tendancy to have a low rank in the personal hygene skill and often lack female companionship to advise them they stink.

It doesn't sound like one to recommend as a friendly game shop, just a game shop in Manchester with a bad smell - like that one in Birmingham.

Try and keep on topic please, this is not the place to trash FLGS but to support them and to get the word out about stores that people may want to visit if they travel around the country for work (for example).

In this poor economy if we don't support our FLGS we will lose them RPG stores, classic game stores or even video game stores - Birmingham has lost at least 4 stores over the past few years, so please keep it positive and just post details.

If you are are not prepared to discuss retailers on a forum entitled 'Discussing Retailers' are you not just looking for a list of UK Games stores?

In which case:
http://www.esdeviumgames.com/findyourgamestore/

/thread.

I'm happy to support my FLGS, and routinely do, as long as it is what that means: Friendly. Wayland's Forge from the experiences of at least two posters so far, is/was not friendly.

I did a five year stretch in Stourbridge and when asked where to get a game I had introduced to new people I would pause, consider if I wanted them to go to that shop, decide against it every time, and send them in the direction of Gameslore instead. Because I know it isn't staffed by trolls.

I have two:

Leisure Games in Finchley, North London.

Great browsing experience, friendly knowledgable staff, light and airy, and great selection of RPGs, Boardgames, Mini's and CCGs / LCGs.
One downside is that they seel at MSRP so they aren't the cheapest, but I tend to forgive them due to their location.

Spirit Games in Burton (on Trent).
They have recently moved location, which has given them a bit more borwsing room (their previous shop could be difficult to negotiate. Great prices, great selection, and great staff - this is what a FLGS should be.

I'd definitely recommend Gameslore as a UK games seller. All my experiences ordering from them have been great.
Definitely friendly, even if not local to me.
Infinity Games UK are good too.
I've pretty much given up with local game shops.
I'd rather the good online sellers survived personally.

The Gamers Outpost is a new shop in Houghton-le-Spring, County Durham.

Links to Facebook page and forums.

It's a small store and mostly sells GW minis, but has a decent selection of Boardgames and CCGs with some RPG stock too. Friendly, knowledgable staff and decent prices. There's a gaming area upstairs for in-store gaming.
