I don't think we'll achieve the epicness of the last one, but who knows. We shall see.

I just thought it was time to get another one going...see if we could keep some of the momentum. Heh.

how long until it gets added to the OLWLG? I'm lazy and don't want to manually add my items.

I'm the same way. Heh. I've submitted it for approval, so it's just a matter of when JeffyJeff adds it. I don't really know how long it takes, I doubt he is sitting at his PC just waiting to approve math trades.

I'm guessing it'll probably be up sometime tomorrow if not tonight.

EDIT: The answer is, fast! It's now up on the OLWLG - http://bgg.activityclub.org/olwlg/.

I think this is going to be my first Math trade....

I have to inventory the games I want to trade first, wish me luck!

Also if there are any hints or tips you have for a noob-math trader (besides the tutorial videos as I think I have watched each like 5 times) I would be more than willing to listen... err.. read them..

My tip as a former-noob MTer is to make absolutely certain you'd be happy with a trade before you list it as one you want. Because chances are you will end up getting the trade you're least enthused over; make sure that trade is still one you want to do!

Also, avoid the desire to scroll quickly through the want list and actually read the description of items. Not everything listed is of a quality you'd be willing to accept.

Both seem common sense but it's funny how quickly they're abandoned.

Don't forget to consider the shipping cost of the item you're sending when making your want list.

Also, remember this is not "I am trading X for Y"

So if you see a game that you know you would never likely get, it doesn't hurt to want list it, because while it may "feel" like you are trading X for Y, in actuality you are really trading X for A for B for C for D for E.... for Y

Secondly, don't wait to recieve your item before sending yours on. When the math trade results are announced, send your item on!

Read EVERY description of every item you put on your want list VERY carefully. Before submitting your want list, go through every item on it and click the magnifying glass icon. Read the description one last time, and make sure you understand the edition and quality of the item listed. Not everyone lists their items in a clear way. In fact, some traders frequently list purposefully vague descriptions.

Especially pay attention to editions. For example: If you're hoping to trade for Cosmic Encounter odds are you want the fantasy flight edition, not the 1970s version. If you want Pandemic, the older editions of Pandemic don't support the most recent expansion. Of course, you might be perfectly happy with either of those versions, but I've been burned once not realizing how different an "old" edition was compared to the "new" edition.

Remember that you are paying for shipping. You might be happy with trading 1000 old magic the gathering cards for a $20 board game, but shipping that box of magic cards is going to cost you the $20 you could have just bought the game for.

Don't hesitate to reply to an item and ask about it. If the user doesn't reply, don't put it on your want list.

List only one item so you don't have to worry about duplicate protection, failing that list only two items so you do learn about it, but don't risk your "most valuable to you" items by not understanding.

It is better to not make a trade, than to get a trade you're not happy with.

I haven't been able to reach the page for a few hours either. Going to wait and see if I have better luck at home tonight.

Yes, duplicate protection is cranky and a bit difficult to use but extremely valuable when you're willing to trade any one of several of your games for a specific game but there are multiple copies available in the trade and you only want one of them.

Trades are *always* one geeklist item for another geeklist item so if you indicate you're willing to trade all of your games for all of the different copies of the same game, your may end up with multiple copies of the same game. Probably not what you intended, hence duplication protection.

Once you gain a complete understanding of it, you can work it to your advantage even creating containers of arbitrary items where you only want one of them for one of your items (for example). I use "unrestricted" duplicate protection (I can't remember the real name for it) for GCs to simplify my interaction in the OLWLG.

But in the beginning, start slow....

I can access OLWLG but it's been stuck at 37 items and 14 users trading for this math trade since last night.
