Don't forget, if you had a hand in any of the winning products for this year, you're eligible for the

mb - 2013 Golden Geek Winner

Microbadge. Just send me a geekmail and I'll get it awarded to you!

Edit: To clarify, to be eligible for the microbadge, you must be credited for working on the winning product (design, art, publisher, etc.). We are not awarding the micro for playtester credit. While that's an important part of all good products, we must draw the line somewhere (and some RPG books have hundreds or thousands of playtest credits!).

Pretty good mix of games up there. I'd have liked to see Mice & Mystics win another category or two. Also, the winner of Best Party Game has a max of 4 players, which seems odd. But not too many surprises overall. They're all great games.

Congrats to the winners!

Wow. Just wow!

Thank you all for your support and enjoyment of Seiji's amazing little game. We are thrilled to be a part of its success.

Thanks to Seiji of course, Tak and Simon at Japon Brand, Ed Bolme and jim pinto for their work on Tempest, all our friends in Japan, and all the many other folks that brought this together. Wouldn't have happened without a lot of people's efforts.

We're excited to bring Lost Legacy out this summer and several new cool (and maybe surprising) re-themes of Love Letter over the coming year! And a ton more cool games from Japan!

Thank you all again! And congrats to all the winners, some excellent games on this list.

Congratulations to the winners, but it does seem weird that the Party Game winner only goes to 4p, and the Abstract winner has a theme, randomness, hidden information, and plays up to 4p...

Agreed... would never consider a 4 player game a "party" game. Definitely odd.

I have played this at parties. It's short enough that people can jump in and out and even spectators have a good time. It's always a hit.

These picks are spot on. All of them are sterling achievements in their own right, and I'm proud to own all but one of them... (the wargame... but the days not over yet...)

Congrats to them all, and the years of sweat and hard work and ups and downs that all the designers and publishers go through to get these games to us. Nobody gets rich off of these, so it's definitely for the love of the game.

Best Children's Game
Forbidden Desert

I think there were a lot of great selections this year, but, of all the games nominated for Best Children's Game, Forbidden Desert seems least appropriate for children. It's a great Family game, sure. I just think this award should have gone to a game for kids.

Looking at the number of microgames following the success of Love Letter, I don't have a problem with the innovative award.

I loved Terra Mystica and Love Letter when they came out in 2012 and they truly deserve to win prizes. Little surprised to see them getting them two yers later in 2014 though!
