For those who live in Taiwan, where and how do you buy games?
Are there any good online game stores that offer good deals to ship to Taiwan?

Thank you.

There is a boardgame cafe in Taiwan called "Witch House". They do have other activities other than boardgames, but when I stayed in Taiwan for 1 year+, I visited Witch House quite often to play boardgames. Witch House is in Taipei, near Taiwan University.

Try their websites:

To avoid posting lots of 亂碼 on this site, there is quite a lot of info, including FLGS in Taiwan, on this forum:

http://www.baseballpulse.org/boardgame/index.php

Just post a question and you might find that there are more game stores/cafes/restaurants (albeit minor ones) than you first thought possible in Taiwan.

In Taipei the best selection (by far) is at Alchemy.

1 - 9F, No. 305 Chung-hsiao East Rd., Section 3, Taipei

(It's the circular building on the north-west corner of Chung-hsaio and Fu-hsing S. Rd., across from the MRT station)

Tel: 02 2741-9964 www.akimigames.com

Don't believe their website on what's in stock- it doesn't seem to get updated, but they carry almost all of the readily available top 20 or 30 ranked games on BGG as well as a fair range of other games from Fantasy Flight, Rio Grande, GMT, etc.

Thanks for the info. This will be quite useful when I go back to visit during Chinese New Year in a couple of months.

By the way, Alchemy has a subsidiary shop, I'm not sure about the name, but the address is Roosevelt Road Section 3 or 4 #273, 2F... I'm not sure which section but it's between Gongguan and, I think, Taipower MRT. That place is a bit more spacious and has a better selection of card games. you can get Arkham Horror and every expansion for it there.

Link not working.

Just came back from family holiday in Taiwan. Had no idea about board gaming scene there but there are many shops if you know where to look. Only had time to visit one and it was great.

Went to lovely shop near Taipei Train station BGHUT (google map link, shop on second floor between Chongqing S Road and Huaining St) where the staff were friendly, with helpful English. The selection was amazing with kickstarter versions of Cthulhu Wars and Evolution with a large selection of European, English and Chinese language games. They even had a big box of promos that I hungrily went through. They demoed Ghost blitz for me while entertaining my daughter with sweets. Came away with Hello Taiwan for the memories and Lifeboat with the cannibal expansion that I've been trying to get hold of for some time.

Further to my research in finding this place here are some links to Taiwan gaming that might help you:

Geek Dad

Formosa Forum

Foursquare including map (although not too accurate)

And the link that led me to bghut:

So, this is a fantastic discussion. I rarely get back to Taiwan but when I do its for vacation and I have been looking for game stores for a while...obviously, not hard enough. I was wondering if we could expand the search/discussion area for game shops to include places like Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Yilan and Hualien. Thanks.

For those who are looking for board games in Taoyuan, there is Board Game Papa, some of their staff even speak English. It's a typical shop+game caffe combo

It's like, here (aka somewhere along Zhongbu 1st street)

Went there Dec. 2015.

Not been back for almost 3 years now. Bghut is near Taipei Central train station though so practical for travelling purposes.
