OK. We are going to try something new this year.
Each month that you join us and sign in (with a legible email address), you will receive a "virtual ticket". At the end of the year, we will draw a virtual ticket out of the "virtual hat" and the winner will get a free game (NOT a virtual game but a real game).
Bonus opportunity: For each guest that you bring that has never been previously, you will get an extra virtual ticket. And for the first-timers, you will get not only a virtual ticket the first month that you join us but also one bonus virtual ticket for being a first time guest.
So, invite your friends, neighbors and co-workers to maximize your chances.

Limitations apply. The game awarded may be chosen by the Community Game Night Coordinator. Contents packed by weight, not by volume. Read at your own risk. Don't try this at home. Objects in mirror may be closer than they appear. Batteries not included. Don't feed the animals. All rights reserved. No part of this post may be reproduced by any means without the express written consent of MLB. No fur-bearing animals were harmed during the creation of this post. Allergy alert: may contain peanuts, but we doubt it. Not recommended for persons with sugar-restricted diets. May cause irritability, sleeplessness, drowsiness, or warts after prolonged use. Contents under pressure. Careful, the beverage you're about to enjoy is extremely hot. Avoid prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light--not even exactly sure why. The truth is out there. There can be only one. Drafted using recycled electrons. Do not remove tags.

You also must show up at least three (3) times during the year to be eligible. The winner will also be required to pick up the awarded game.

We will start CGN this month (Feb - 2/10) with a Chili Cookoff. See the web site (http://www.communitygamenight.info ...) for more details. Obviously, there will be no pizza this month but chili/soup instead.

Also, remember our Second Chance sale. This sale is for the few games left from last month's auction to raise money for the food pantry. I sent a note a while back with the list. If you responded back and expressed an interest in purchasing any of those games (and I confirmed that yours was the first offer), please bring your cash on 2/10 and I will bring your game(s).

Finally, remember that we will continue our year-long contest to give away a free game. See above.

Some logistical notes:

Please forward this note to anybody that you think would benefit from this info...
Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. [may actually be a little earlier] on Friday (5/11). You might want to eat before you come (or bring something to eat) as dinner will NOT be served on Friday. There is a vending machine on site but selection is limited. However, we will take a short break around 6:30 p.m. for ice cream sundaes (goodies will be provided and you supply the labor to create your own sundae).
As always, bringing snacks is always appropriate (especially if you bring enough to share).
You are also encouraged to bring your own pop. Water will be available on site.
Doors will re-open at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. You might want to eat before you come (or bring something to eat) as breakfast will NOT be served on Saturday. Lunch will also NOT be provided on Saturday, but supper will be provided for free.

We will keep track of all BattleLore games played and somebody will win a BattleLore promotional figure.

We will also keep track of all board games played (Ironman tournament) and somebody will win a fabulous prize package of games.

More details at http://www.communitygamenight.info . Please bring some games as well as your friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

Also, remember that this month we are asking everybody to bring at least one food item to donate to the Waukee Area Christian Food Pantry as an entry fee.

See ya there.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line.

There are 2 game stores in the area that host gaming in the store:
Mayhem: http://www.mayhemcomics.com/ (mayhemdsm@aol.com)
and
Games & More (gamegirl2win@msn.com)
[See also http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/7322]

The other store here, Games by James, does not host gaming.

You might check with BGG user Jax Hammer to see if he is hosting anything at his house while you are here.

Are you an 18XX player by any chance?

Next session is 12/8. We will be starting at 1:00 p.m. this month. But as always, drop in for any part of the time that you want.

It would be helpful if you RSVP (helps us to fine tune the pizza order) but it is perfectly fine to just drop in.

Also asking everybody to please bring (at least) a dozen Christmas cookies so we can perform a proper taste test.

Finally, if there is interest, I'll run a No-Ship Math Trade. Please reply here or send me a PM if you are fairly confident that you can attend and would be interested in participating in a No-Ship Math Trade.

No-ship Math Trade postponed due to lack of interest.

Our next session is 2/9. We will start at 5:00 as usual (but you can feel free to show up whenever). See details in the first post of this thread (or go directly to http://www.westview.org/ConnectionPoints/CommunityGameNight/...).

Note that in February we will also conduct our annual game auction to raise funds for the local food pantry. If you would like to donate some games, please send them to the address listed in the first post in this thread (since the food pantry is registered with the IRS, your contribution is deductible).

We would also love to have you come and bid on all the great games that will be in the auction. We have already received some great donations including games from RGG, Mayfair, Z-Man, Out of the Box, FFG, White Wolf, and many many others.

If it is still snowing at 4:30, we will probably call it off; however, the forecast calls for snow to stop by Saturday morning--so the roads should be clear.

It was great to see all those that made it to Gamicon last weekend!! It was such a pleasure to have so many of our regular CGN participants there. It seems like you all had fun. Randy and I will be attending GenCon for the first time. I know a few of you also attend that convention, so we will see you there in August.

The next game night will be March 14 at 5:00 p.m. Be sure to bring your favorite games, a visitor, and some snacks. We do have tons of games available if you would like to try some of ours. See ya in a few weeks!! Selena

The June session will be our annual Game Festival.

We will have a full day of gaming starting at 9:00 a.m. and run til 11:00 p.m.

Admission cost: We will be collecting food donations for the Waukee food pantry. Each person will need to bring (and donate) at least one item as an admission cost.

There will be door prizes and new releases from several publishers.

Everyone is welcome. Send a geekmail if you need info on hotel possibilities.

There will be the usual free pizza for supper and we will provide some great snacks in the afternoon, but you will be on your own for real food for lunch.

Some notes on some of the prizes:
1. The person that brings the best snack to share will win a free game.
2. The first person to enter the building after 8:59:59 a.m. and register on the official Sign-In sheet will win a door prize.
3. Sometime in the late morning we will hold a drawing and randomly choose one of the people in the room to win a free game.
4. Sometime in the afternoon the Director will choose a game and somebody (chosen randomly) that has played that game earlier in the day will win a free copy of that game.
5. Sometime between 5-7:00 p.m. a randomly chosen first-time adult participant will win a free game. Only first-time participants will be eligible for this one.
6. The person that brings in the most adult first-timers (that register and note who invited them) will win a free game. So, invite your friends and even that weird kid down the street.
7. Sometime in the evening the Director will choose a game and somebody (chosen randomly) that has played that game earlier in the day will win a free copy of that game.
