Hi I'm going on vacation to Paris for couple of days, and we'll be staying near the Luxemborg Metro station area..

I'm looking for a helpful guide to see if there are any good Boardgame shop around that area or area that I could easily get to, and if they speak any english.

Thank you
Shingoi

Hi, Shingoi --

My wife and I visited Paris just last month. We stayed near the Cardinal Lemoine metro stop, 5e arr.

In our exploration of the Latin Quarter, we came upon Descartes Ecoles:

www.jeux-descartes.fr/ecoles

You'll find it at 52, Rue des Ecoles. Huge selection, friendly staff!

Hope that helps. Enjoy your trip; we loved it!

There's a bunch of various game/hobby related stores in the Notre Dame area, just south(across) of the river. I've never seen so many copies of Forumula De in my life....

spot on!

with great views of notre dame, and within 10 minutes walking distance from each other lie descartes and starplayer stores.

check out their website for directions.

descartes carry euro games, while starplayer carry miniatures, rpgs and some wargames.

there is also a games workshop 10 minutes walk from galarries lafayette, near the rail station.

enjoy!

Hey,
I went this summer and while the Descartes near the Sorbonne (please excuse my spelling mistakes) was okay (make sure you check out the sale corner downstairs), I was much happier in Fireball. I don't remember which stop it is (it is kind of close to the descartes store), but it is a cool store with some older games. Especially since Essen just happened they should have some more, harder to find games. Also, just down the street is a great action figure store with a ton of star wars stuff (a lot of fun just to go in and look). Also, see if they are still having the Star Wars expo. It was pretty cool. I got to meet George Lucas while I was in Paris. That was cool.

In the same neighborhood, close to the Luxembourg, you can pay a visit to "L'Oeuf Cube", 24 rue Linné - http://www.oeufcube.com/ - metro Jussieu. Still in the same area, there is also "Starplayer" - 3 rue Dante (http://www.starplayer.fr - click "plateaux" for boardgames), and "Variantes", rue Saint-André des Arts - metro Saint-Michel - small shop but quite friendly people - http://pleindejeux.com/?cmd_id_var=1007723)
Want to find those places on a map ? Visit www.viamichelin.fr, type one of these addresses in the "N°, rue, gare, métro" space in the upper left frame and also "Paris" in "Ville, lieu-dit" => enter, and you'll see that you choosed the right place for your hotel ! Don't forget to visit Paris, spending all your time shopping ! My tip ? Close to Variantes, on the "île Notre-Dame", the "Sainte-Chapelle", that lots of tourists forget to visit. Thank you for all of your helpful replies!!
Let's see how many of these I could pretend to accidently find while we walk around in the city of Paris.

We are so looking forward to it, and good thing we have budgeted our spending money with all these new Essen games coming out.

Shingoi--
I am going to Paris this next Spring and was doing a little research on gamestore when I came across your thread. How did your game shop search in Paris go and would you recommend any?

Thanks.
