I am going for a short trip from Europe to US to Philadelphia. Where is a good shop to buy board games in Philadelphia? any advice welcome.

I'd recommend searching Matthew Gray's Game Store Database:

I don't know of any in Philly proper but there are two excellent shops in the western suburbs:
(1) The Compleat Strategist in King of Prussia (about a 30 min ride west of Center City (non rush hour))
and
(2) The Games Keep in West Chester (45-60 minutes west and south) - West Chester has a number of great restaurants if you decide to head out that way.
Both stores have a wide selection and very helpful staff.
There's another shop in Conshohocken (also west of Philly but I have never shopped there so I can't vouch for them)

You beat me to it.

There used to be a good one in New Hope ("Toys For Men" ... I got my pre-reprint copy of Ra there), but it moved away.

Living in Philadelphia, I can tell you that there is a lack of game stores nearby. I would have to second All Things Fun. It is a little bit of a ride (45 - 60 min) but it is worth it.

I don't know of any in Philly proper, but Comics Showcase in Bryn Mawr has a lot of games. I'd also second The Compleat Strategist.

Not to sound too much like a commercial but we'd love for you to stop in at All Things Fun! We stock hundreds of titles (and inventory is expanding like crazy right now for the holidays.)

And from Philadelphia it is a straight drive right down Route 73!

Have a safe trip and I hope you can visit!

Just so you know, the Compleat Strategist is not in the mall. It's only about a five minute drive away, but it's not on a major street and can be hard to find if you don't know where it is. I would call them for directions before going there and print out a map from mapquest or a similar site.

When I visited my friend in Wilmington, DE, he took me to a store near a Moroccan restaurant on Main St in Newark,DE near the university there. It's a bit cramped, but I recall they had a good selection of games.
