So I've challenged myself to learn and play every game on Board Game Arena. This is for 2 mains reasons:
1.To try new games to help me decide whether or not to buy the physical copy.
2.To give me something to do during the week, when I can't get together with people to actually play physical games. And I guess it's all just to challenge myself.

Geeklist version here
(This Geeklist is only for my personal progression in the challenge. If you want to add your own Geeklist, I can post it here in the OP.)

My Criteria:
-Traditional games are excluded (any game that uses a regular deck of cards or is cosnidered traditional. Things like Hearts, backgammon, chess, etc.)
-Games I've played in real life are excluded.

Progression:
Learned:
In the Year of the Dragon (Rules read. Can't find players)

Played:
Dragonheart
Seasons
Stone Age
Hive
Coloretto

Excluded:
Takenoko
Tokaido
Yahtzee
Perudo (Perudo)
Brain Trainer
Jaipur
Chess
Hearts
Backgammon
Checkers
Kalah
Go (Gomoku)

I'm presuming the meaning is asynchronous play where you can make a move and then leave the website to play the next move later as opposed to live play where the whole game takes place within a given period of time without disconnecting from the site.

Both require an interent connection though.

When you go to the 'Play Now' section you can choose Real-Time or Turn-Based games. Turn-Based games give you hours/days for each turn instead of seconds/minutes that the real-time games do, and you don't have to stay connected to keep playing. I play most of my games on BGA using this option.

There is also a group called Game Tutors in which there are many people willing to teach and play games of many sorts. I believe it's open for anyone to join.

My name there is runtly.

Good luck!

Interesting - one of the ancillary stats on Boarspace.net is the "most versatile players" list, which has a 90 day timeout.
http://boardspace.net/cgi-bin/boardspace_olympics.cgi

Differnet games (max possible score is 75)
shogi 59 games
ezeregy 27 games
2m1204 14 games

Of course, beware of people "gaming the system" by not really learning
and playing, just to get on the scoreboard
.
