I would be interested in running an HC Secret Santa this year. Before going any further, how many people would be interested ins such a thing? Please comment on or like this. I figure if we can get ~50 I will start organizing rules etc.

In. And with the size of the guild now, I think this is doable. Not to mention that the gifts from this SS should be some quality games! thumbsup

Possibly, my problem is I just usually end up acquiring the stuff I want to try and sell the stuff that disappoints.

In regards to the rules there are several approaches which can be taken. The traditional BGG SS says you must spend $50 and provide proof of purchase. Knowing guild members may have more, mmm, niche tastes than most, it is possible to allow for used games that are on a recipients wish list.

The most practical is that each recipient should update their profile to indicate their preference for used/new games.

Of course there will be a dummy SS account to taunt recipients with, and a geeklist to share pictures of gifts.

The only important rules which need to be decided upon is start and cut off date for the exchange and the minimum value which a gift may have.

Thoughts are more than appreciated.

How would we manage the international shipping consideration? I mean, Santa's sleigh would likely be busy at that time...

I believe that there is normally an ability to set preferences for international or not.

However, there are many ways to purchase a game from a LGS in their area and have it delivered for a minimal cost.

If it's an official Secret Santa, when folks sign up, they can specify what countries or worldwide that they are willing to ship to. It's added expense, but worth it IMO. Often times, you can order from a FLGS in the recipients country and they may even gift wrap for you. thumbsup

Maybe. I join so many of these already though. And, sadly, it would have to remain local for me.
