I've got the boss thinking about this trip. Is it close to selling out like DTcon? Or do we have some time to figure out if this is a good fit for a family vacation this year? My kids will have to miss school, so we've got some decisions to make.

If I'm reading that it says all gratuities are prepaid, is that part of the standard charge? The last cruise I was on, I had to pay a daily gratuity at the end (a different cruise line) but I understood that to be pretty standard in the business.

Those daily gratuities are folded into the cost already...so all you pay is that single price above and there are no hidden costs later!

The only extras are listed above in the FAQ and they are all optional fees (shore excursions, soda, alcohol).

We tried to keep all the costs down as much as we could and make this close to the same price as a land-based convention. With a starting price of $499.50 per person...I think we did a great job!

Basically we made this "pay one price" with everything included so you won't need to worry about having extra money for anything!

Just come and enjoy the ship with us!

The most expensive price is about $1500.00 for two people, but that's only if you want a room with a balcony. I expect that on this trip we'll be using this room for very little other than sleeping and showering.

If this would be your first cruise, I STRONGLY recommend you do some research before you buy the ticket. Some quick googling and websites such as Cruise.com give a lot of intel about what to expect.

So much of how much you'll use your room and is balcony worth it depends on the type of person you are and what you want out of this.

Cruise Critic is my favorite cruise related website and forums so far. There is a roll call section that you can sign up under for each cruise which gets you in touch with other folks who will be on the cruise with you.

I've used that in the past to organize shore excursions with others.

On my last cruise with Royal Caribbean, we had enough people sign up under the roll call for the cruise line to setup a meet and greet in one of the lounges on our first day.

We probably don't need that for this cruise, but was a nice perk on the other cruise I was on.

If you are also going on this cruise for the actual vacation aspect of it, don't overlook the balcony rooms. They give you a lot of extra space to chill out and are great for unwinding with the Mr./Mrs. at the end of a long day. It's also nice to sit out there and watch the sea.

Just my two cents!

I don't think I'll be on this cruise but it sounds great!

Anyone familiar with the area know where to fly into? Fort Lauderdale has an airport, but if Miami is cheaper is that still an easy option?

I'm actually going on a cruise out of Miami next week. We're flying into Ft. Lauderdale since the flight for us (coming from MN) was less expensive to FLL vs. MIA.

Also factor in your transportation costs from the airport to the port in your calculations. The cruise line offers a shuttle, but that may be a premium price option.

Anyone know if Miami has a shuttle out to the cruise port? I'm thinking FLL does, which might offset the difference in flight costs.

I believe any questions like that should be addressed to Jason (liarsdice). Although you could try calling Cool Stuff and seeing if they can fix it.

FWIW. An inside cabin has no windows. A "window" has a "porthole." You usually cannot open portholes. This is because they are typically lower on the ship and waves may cause water to splash in. A balcony room is higher up on the ship has a sliding door and balcony that you can actually go out on.

Pictures are here:
http://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruises/4NightWesternCaribbean...

Also price difference is $100 more for porthole. and I think $500 more for balcony.

Hope this helps.

Call CoolStuff back to upgrade. No worries!

Our Oceanviews have windows not portholes, and are actually the closest rooms to the gaming area.
