the entry is not really up to date right now. not much has been released and some is translation from russian to english. if anything, that might be per player, which I could understand better.

I'd hold your decisions until there is actual data and not jump on the wagon of skepticism and nit-pick unconfirmed data that someone had to fill in to even create a page....

(I consider it unconfirmed since there isn't really any data out there yet, and I believe playtime is needed to create the BGG page)

With just 90 cards? I wouldnt get too hopeful on depth.

Card count has nothing to do with depth.

i'm just honestly in shock at seeing this game at the top of the hotness.

MOO is a grail game for me, to this day likely my favorite video game of all time (1 & 2).

TI:3 is a great attempt at recreating the video game, and i've enjoyed eclipse as well, and yet to play space empires 4x...but it would be wonderful to have a boardgame version of my of my favorite board games.

the limited info posted here doesn't look very promising though unfortunately. I think i would want a streamlined TI:3 or like a TI:3.5 that FFG seems to be doing with a lot of their games where they rerelease a game with modified ands streamlined rules.
This looks like it could be a some kind of deck building game based on the cover art...

with that said, i know the original team is working a new version of the video game, which is promising...

It's sure not going to be a very deep game, but if it's fun and expandable, why not.

I had ton of funs playing empire of the void even if it was less deep and I hate many things in the rules. I had more fun than Eclipse and TI3 and now that you mention it, more fun than space empire 4X.

Hotness is less than meaningless. All it represents is pages that get alot of hits. So a game called Master of Orion will get alot of google hits and so it jumps up on the hotness. Its no indicator of actual value or gameplay.

Neither. Its what you do with the cards.

I could definitly see a MOO level game being workable in 90 cards. But odds are that what will end up for sale will be lacking. Possibly very lacking.

Please mister publisher person out there PROVE ME WRONG!

Maybe it's a start small and expand bigger strategy.

If the game works well it could finance bigger projects later.

From my experience, the only way to make MOM implementable as a board game is to convert magic as technologies. This is why Civ and MOO board games works, because technology change rules of the game while MOM spells are instant effects.
